My brother is an Idol

Chapter 58

Chapter 58: Chapter 58
Chapter 58

Jiwoo explained patiently to Hyoyoung, “I thought very carefully for a long time after listening to Hyunsuk, and I decided to try his way. I tried so hard too.”

“Oh!”

“I really tried! So much so that I thought I was going to die from it. I went beyond my limits, physically and emotionally. Do you understand, Hyoyoung?”

“What happened, oppa?”

“I did that for three years. I kept up my grades and made sure I didn’t get in any kind of trouble. I was a model student and a son, and you know what? After three years, my father finally told me that it was okay for me to follow my dream. To my shock, he changed his mind.”

“Wow, that’s something…”

“I learned later that it wasn’t the painting itself that he hated. My father later told me that the truth was, he was just afraid that I would become just like his father, my grandfather. Irresponsible and reckless. Only care about painting and nothing else. But by showing my father how responsible I could be, I was able to convince him that I was not like my grandfather.”

“Oh, I see…”

“Yup, and that is how I am happily doing this. My father did not object when I told him I wanted to become an idol. And you know what? My father is now the biggest fan of The M. I’ll bet he has the most extensive scrapbook of The M in the world.”

“Amazing. If I get a chance, I would love to ask for that book. It’s probably worth a fortune.”

“Haha, alright. When I return home, I will try to sneak it out for you.”

“So, Oppa, why are you really telling me this story? What are you trying to say?”

“The truth about Myunghee.”

“That stalker?”

“Do you wonder why Myunghee exploded the way she did?”

“Because she is a crazy b*tch! Is there a reason for going insane?”

“Yes, there is. There’s a reason for everything in this world.”

“Wow, you sound like a philosopher. It’s strange to see you all serious. So very unlike you.”

“It is easy to hate but hating doesn’t solve the problem. I think we need to find out the real reason why Myunghee lost it.”

“Jiwoo Oppa…”

“I’m not saying this is your job.”

“Then…?”

“And it might not even be our responsibility at all.”

“Then whose job is it?”

“How would I know? It could be the person who originally hurt Myunghee. Or maybe it’s Myunghee herself who needs to examine her life. But at this point, we have become her target, which means that although it may not be our duty, it would benefit us to find the answer for her. If we can figure out what happened to Myunghee that made her so angry, then perhaps we will be able to help her and thereby help ourselves.”

“I can’t believe this. Why are you acting this way all of a sudden? Could it be… you…”

“What?”

“You are considering becoming a priest? A selfless religious figure…?”

“Oh my god! Hyoyoung, I was being serious! Why can’t you believe that?”

When Jiwoo became loud and flustered, Hyoyoung grinned, “Finally, the Jiwoo I know!”

“Whatever. Just think about it, ok?”

“Fine, fine. I still don’t get what you are saying, but I will think about it, Oppa.”

“Anyway, just where did Hyojun and Kiwook go? Do you know? Why haven’t they come back yet?”

“I know! Where are they? It makes me nervous to see them together.”

“So… whose side will you be on?”

“What? What do you mean?”

“Your brother or your lover. The oldest question in history! If they fought, whose side will you be on?!”

“…”

When Hyoyoung sighed, Jiwoo prodded, “Hurry up! Your choice would be…!”

“Jiwoo Oppa…”

“Oh my god! ME?! Wow! I am so flattered!”

“I’m going to hit you! That is my choice!”

Hyoyoung yelled and slapped Jiwoo’s back and tackled him.

“AHHHH!!!”

His scream filled the house. Hyunsuk ran out from his room, still holding his cell phone, while Kiwook and Hyojun walked in with shocked faces.

“What happened?!”

“What’s going on?!”

“What’s wrong?!”

What the three of them saw was a huge mess. The kitchen was still littered with piles of unwashed dishes and on the floor, Jiwoo and Hyoyoung were tangled up in what looked like a wrestling match.

After a shocked silence, Hyunsuk burst into laughter. He was laughing so hard that he started to tear up, and soon, everyone else started to laugh as well.

“Wow, it’s so true that laughter is the most contagious thing in the world.”

“I know! I can’t believe we are laughing even in such a grim situation.”

“By the way, I’ve never seen Hyunsuk laugh like that before. And I’ve known him for over 10 years!”

“Me neither. I didn’t know Hyunsuk could laugh at all.”

Hyojun walked up to Hyunsuk and asked curiously, “So why are you laughing so hard?”

Hyunsuk was still crying from laughing so hard. He wiped his tears and replied, “Because it’s funny. Don’t you think so?”

“Well, it is… but not that much.”

“I guess you have a different sense of humor than the rest of us.”

Hyunsuk grinned, “Oh, so I am the only one that finds this scene hilarious?”

He looked at his phone and abruptly he returned to his serious self. He announced to everyone, “I have something to tell you guys.”

“You are so strange, Hyunsuk…”

“Whatever. I learned a few things during the last hour.”

“What?”

“It’s about that man. President Shim.”

When everyone stared at him, he coughed and replied, “I was able to stop him from leaving Bali. For now, anyway.”

“Huh?”

“What? How?”

“Hey… do you know someone in the Indonesian government?”

“Are you FBI?”

“Or maybe… are you involved in a secret Russian gang or something?”

Hyunsuk shook his head and answered, “All wrong. You guys are so ridiculous. Lucky for us, and I guess unluckily for him, he broke a few laws in Bali and I was able to report him to the local authorities. He will be imprisoned for about a month there and afterward, he will probably be deported back to Korea.”

“Wow.”

Hyunsuk nodded, “Oh and…”

“And?”

After a brief hesitation, Hyunsuk looked at them with determination and added, “Let’s meet Myunghee. I think we should face her. Tomorrow.”

“What? Who?”

“Myunghee. Let’s meet her.”

“Are you insane, Hyunsuk?”

“Why?”

“How could you…?”

When the guys started to argue angrily, Hyoyoung raised her voice.

“Hyunsuk Oppa must have a good reason for his suggestion, so just let him speak. We should listen.”

Hyunsuk smiled at Hyoyoung gratefully. “Thanks, Hyoyoung.”

He nodded and continued, “I’m not saying we should meet her in person.”

Hyoyoung interrupted him and asked, “So you mean we should send someone else?”

Jiwoo and Hyojun immediately asked more questions.

“Huh? How? Who?”

“Do you really think that’s a good idea?”

Hyoyoung thought quietly for a second before looking up. She glanced at Jiwoo and said to Hyunsuk, “Are you saying… that you will send someone pretending to be you? The M member? Or maybe four guys pretending to be all of you?”

When Hyunsuk nodded, Hyoyoung said to him, “But… she used to be your stylist.”

“So?”

“So how would you be able to fool her? Don’t you think she will know that it’s not you?”

“What? What do you mean? How would she know? She has never seen our faces.”

“You guys are the one she has loved for a long time. She saw you every day and touched you as she clothed you. She adored you. So do you honestly think she wouldn’t know if you sent four strangers? Are you serious?”

“…”
