Chapter 244: Ghost Bell's Confession (Part 1)
After meeting with Ghost Bell and Mu Long, Black Cocoon happened to pass by the recording site for the weather forecast, pressed against the glass curtain wall, using the restraint sensing to eavesdrop for a while. Upon hearing the host say that Li Jing would have a heavy rain later, he hurried back home immediately.
Soon after, Gu Wenyu passed through the floor-to-ceiling window, stepping onto the wooden floor.
He took off the Black Cocoon suit he was wearing and used the restraint belt to stuff it into the cardboard box, casually piling it together with the diapers.
After sealing the carton, suddenly, in his mind came the dragon's hoarse and heavy voice:
"Minghuan child… come down and chat."
Gu Wenyu was taken aback.
This was the first time he heard the voice of Red Dragon Wales outside of the spiritual world. It seemed this Anecdote Fragment's power was much greater than those three managed personalities.
"Coming, coming."
He muttered, lay on the bed, rested his crossed arms as a pillow, closed his eyes, and felt his body slowly become lighter, as if being enveloped by a mindless blue.
Gradually, he sank into the deep ocean of the spiritual world.
Upon opening his eyes, what came into view was still that library at sunset.
Ji Minghuan raised his fair hand, touched the patient's gown on his body, looked at this physique of a four or five-year-old, sat cross-legged on the ground staring at the floor, thought for a moment, then looked up at the red dragon curling in the corner.
He remained silent, waiting for the old spectacled dragon to speak first.
"I actually don't quite understand why you deliberately anger your collaborators?" Red Dragon asked, "You could easily not provoke Ghost Bell and Mu Long, and cooperate with them in a more peaceful manner."
"Because I need to keep a distance from them, maintain a purely cooperative relationship, got it, Dragon Grandpa?"
"Why pretend to be mature, kid?" The dragon adjusted his glasses, "Spouting cooperation repeatedly, but do you really understand?"
"Please... whether it's Ghost Bell, Blue Arc, or Mu Long, they are all people who could die for their companions," Ji Minghuan said with pursed lips, "So, if one day any of them values me to the point of willing to sacrifice themselves for me, it would be disastrous."
He paused: "After all, Black Cocoon is just a body to me, it can be sacrificed at any time."
"So that's how you think, I was puzzled why you didn't directly reveal your identity to Ghost Bell and Blue Arc."
"Have you finished reading all my memories?"
"Skimmed through, more or less."
"I've only lived for a few years, and you're fast-forwarding through it? Don't fast-forward my life away."
After speaking, Ji Minghuan tilted his head, muttered: "This time is really difficult, with even a slight mistake, dad and big brother could all die… But if I don't let big brother enter Rainbow Wings, I won't be able to get the clues of the Salvation Society, caught between two sides."
"If it were Qingping, he wouldn't consider these, he would just take one step and see one step." The dragon said.
Ji Minghuan withdrew his gaze from its face, lowered his head, silently for a while.
"So… he's dead."
"But sometimes you could learn from him, be a bit carefree."
"If he were carefree, he would've told me his identity long ago." Ji Minghuan said softly, "No one can be carefree in front of someone they care about, otherwise it's not enough care."
Speaking, he leaned his body backward, supported his hands on the ground, closed his eyes and sighed.
"But there's one thing that you both have in common."
"What is it?"
"I often told him, 'You can't save everyone'." Red Dragon said, "And this sentence applies to you too."
Ji Minghuan was stunned.
Red Dragon lifted its head, silently looked at him, then lowered its eyes, continued flipping through books behind the glasses.
"Minghuan child, go, speak another day."
"Alright, I'm very busy, unlike Li Qingping, best not call me without reason."
"I don't know you very well yet." Red Dragon mused, "But I know your spirit needs rest, otherwise it'll soon collapse."
"Resting will cause the collapse, okay? Every time I sleep slightly comfortably, waking up, the sky falls, just like today." Ji Minghuan looked at the ceiling, sunset hues shone on his cheeks, "I have too many things to consider, where's the time to rest?"
After speaking, he sprawled on the ground in a big-letter shape, dazed looking at the ceiling.
"You're different from Li Qingping, just a twelve-year-old child."
"I have many memories."
"A child reading more books won't impact the fact that he is just a child."
"Really? Whatever you think."
Ji Minghuan no longer conversed with Red Dragon, closed his eyelids, his consciousness progressively transferred into the No. 1 body.
"Time to eat."
Gu Qiye knocked on the door, his voice coming from outside.
Ji Minghuan pushed the box on the ground under the bed, jumped off the bed, and went over to open the door.
"Yeah, did you see Xiaomai?" Gu Qiye absent-mindedly asked.
"Little sis seems to have left."
Ji Minghuan said while rubbing his eyes, giving a yawn.
Gu Qiye was taken aback: "When, I saw her sleeping when I went out."
"I don't know either." Ji Minghuan shook his head, "She was already gone when I got up to wash up."
"She… didn't say anything to you?"
"No." Ji Minghuan looked up at Gu Qiye, "What about you?"
Gu Qiye was silent, shook his head.
After a while, he exhaled a long breath, looked up at Ji Minghuan.
"Shall we chat?"
"Okay."
Soon after, the brothers stood leaning against the railing of the rooftop, the morning wind blowing overhead.
The sun lazily hung on the slightly white heavens, the morning light awakened the sleeping Li Jing, the glass of skyscrapers stained with a layer of bright halo.
