Chapter 269: Evidence, Promise
Gui Xiaoxu's gaze turned cold at Ke Ting's words.
He chuckled coldly and said, "If he wants the Gui Group, he will need the life to take it. I may have built the Gui Group as a cover for Bu Gui Pavilion, but that company is still mine. Whoever dares to take it should be ready to die by my hand."
At this moment, neither Ke Ting nor Yong Yan dared to speak.
They both knew too well—this man wasn't just possessive. He was very dangerous and crazy. And whoever dared to touch what belonged to him wouldn't live long enough to regret it.
Seeing that Yong Yan looked tired, Gui Xiaoxu turned to Ke Ting and said, "Ke Ting, call the doctors to check on Yong Yan. Run the full body examinations for Yong Yan and give me the results."
Ke Ting nodded. "Yes, Boss."
After Ke Ting left to call the doctors, Gui Xiaoxu looked back at Yong Yan and said, "Your priority right now is to rest. Don't worry about this matter. I will avenge you—and our brothers."
Yong Yan nodded at his words. "Thank you, Boss."
Gui Xiaoxu raised his hand, wanting to pat Yong Yan's arm, but seeing that his entire body was wrapped in bandages, he lowered his hand.
"I'm going now."
Leaving those words behind, Gui Xiaoxu walked out of the ward. Left alone, Yong Yan closed his weary eyes and soon drifted into sleep.
Closing the door, Gui Xiaoxu looked at the bodyguards and ordered, "Don't let anyone disturb Yong Yan without permission."
The four bodyguards nodded in unison. "Understood."
After giving his instructions, Gui Xiaoxu left the hospital. On his way toward the main entrance, he dialed a number.
The call connected in seconds, and a low, cold voice came through the speaker. "Boss."
"Zhe Xi, Yong Yan just woke up," Gui Xiaoxu said.
Hearing this, Zhe Xi let out a breath of relief. "That's good. How is his condition now?"
"He doesn't look good, but the danger has passed. He should recover in no time under the doctors' intensive care."
Relieved that Yong Yan was out of danger, Zhe Xi's heart finally settled. But knowing Gui Xiaoxu wouldn't call him merely to give an update about Yong Yan's condition, Zhe Xi asked, "Boss, do you have something for me to do?"
Gui Xiaoxu's eyes turned cold when he recalled what Yong Yan told him before and instructed, "I want you to bring Gui Sihong to me."
Hearing this, Zhe Xi replied without hesitation, "Understood."
After giving the order, Gui Xiaoxu added, "Let Xuan Wu know about Yong Yan's condition."
"Alright. I will tell Xuan Wu when I meet him tonight."
"Good." With that reminder, Gui Xiaoxu ended the call.
At the hospital entrance, seven black luxury cars were already waiting there. Seeing him coming, a bodyguard opened the back door of one of the cars and waited for Gui Xiaoxu to get in.
After the bodyguard shut the door, Gui Xiaoxu ordered, "Go back to the company."
"Yes, CEO Gui." The driver answered, then drove out of the private hospital, escorted by six black sedans.
While Gui Xiaoxu was planning his revenge, Hu Chaoyang was buried by work.
Sitting behind his desk, Hu Chaoyang glanced at his exclusive assistant and asked, "Zuquan, where is the evidence of Bai Yansheng's corruption?"
Being asked, Hou Zuquan tapped on his tablet, then replied, "CEO Hu, I have sent the evidence to your email."
Hearing this, Hu Chaoyang immediately opened his inbox.
While he was reading the file, Hou Zuquan reported, "CEO Hu, your mother just called a few minutes ago. She ordered you to return home tonight."
Hu Chaoyang paused, looked at him, and asked, "Why did Mother suddenly call me back?"
Smiling, Hou Zuquan replied, "She is hosting a welcoming banquet for you tonight at Hu Manor."
The moment he heard this, Hu Chaoyang felt a headache coming on. Removing his glasses, he rubbed his tired eyes. After a brief silence, he said, "I won't go."
When he said that, Hou Zuquan gave him a helpless smile. "If you don't go, your mother will skin me alive. Brother, you won't sacrifice your childhood friend just because you hate socializing, right?"
Hu Chaoyang stared at him for a moment, then sighed. "Fine. Cancel my schedule for tonight."
Hearing that, Hou Zuquan's lips curved slightly. "I will arrange it right away."
Sensing his concealed delight, Hu Chaoyang rolled his eyes at Hou Zuquan and returned to work.
Placing a stack of documents neatly on the desk, Hou Zuquan reminded him, "CEO Hu, please review and sign these documents before tomorrow morning."
Looking at the high pile of documents in front of him, Hu Chaoyang muttered with a touch of regret in his voice, "I shouldn't have accepted this job."
Overhearing him, Hou Zuquan chuckled and asked, "Who told you to be soft-hearted whenever Yinqi asks for help? This is the result of your tolerance towards him."
Unhappy, Hu Chaoyang shot him a glance. "Are you that free? Do you want me to give you more work?"
Hearing this, Hou Zuquan raised his hands in surrender and replied, "No, thank you. I already have plenty to do, so don't call me unless it's something very important."
Without waiting for a response from Hu Chaoyang, he slipped out of the office.
Watching the glass door close behind Hou Zuquan, Hu Chaoyang sighed and muttered, "Traitor."
With only a few hours left before returning to Hu Manor, Hu Chaoyang had no choice but to speed up his work.
At the same time, Jiang Yinqi's phone chimed.
Ding!
Seeing that it was an email from Hu Chaoyang, he opened it. The moment he read the contents, his eyes lit up.
He chuckled and muttered, "Chaoyang is still as dependable as ever. Asking him to handle the Bai Group was the wisest decision I made this month. With him keeping those old foxes in line, Hanyun can sit back and earn money without lifting a finger."
After checking the file, Jiang Yinqi dialed a number.
