Chapter 262: Bai Hanyun’s Gift
After a brief moment of thought, Gui Ying lifted his head to look at the sky.
Frowning slightly, Gui Ying flipped his palm, and a small mirror appeared on top of his palm. After forming a hand seal, he tapped the mirror with his index and middle fingers.
A second later, golden lines came out from the mirror's surface, floating in the air.
As the glowing golden lines intertwined and connected with each other, Gui Ying's eyes flickered as he muttered in disbelief, "No way… how could fate be changing again?"
Gui Ying then raised his head to the dark clouds slowly gathering in the sky, then turned his gaze toward the signal tower not far away.
After a long silence, the corner of Gui Ying's lips slowly curved upward.
A second later, Gui Ying suddenly chuckled, his deep voice tinged with expectation as he whispered, "Fairy Bai… Feng Xiyan… This young master really wants to see what kind of fate you two will bring into this world."
While he was observing the change of fate, Feng Xiyan and the generals arrived at the southern city wall.
Seeing them approach, Gui Ying raised his brows with interest.
Below, Feng Xiyan and the generals walked up the stairs. When they reached the top of the city wall, Feng Xiyan looked around but found nothing unusual.
Just as he was about to order the generals to search the surroundings, Feng Wu spotted him.
Circulating his internal energy, Feng Wu activated his lightness skill and leapt down from the signal tower without hesitation.
Landing a few steps away from Feng Xiyan, Feng Wu knelt and greeted him, "Master."
Turning to him, Feng Xiyan asked, "Feng Wu, why are you here? Does that thunderous sound have something to do with you?"
Feng Wu nodded and replied, "Answering Master. This subordinate is here under Fairy Bai's order. As for the thunderous sound just now, it came from the heavenly artifact used by Fairy Bai to call forth rain. Fairy Bai said that this is her gift to you, Master."
When Feng Xiyan and the generals heard this, they were not as shocked as Feng Wu had expected.
Looking at his master's calm, smiling face, Feng Wu asked, "Master, did you already know about this beforehand?"
Feng Xiyan shook his head. "Fairy Bai told me she had prepared a gift for me, but I did not know her gift was a heavenly artifact that could call forth rain."
Hearing this, Feng Wu nodded in understanding.
After confirming the source of the thunderous sound, Feng Xiyan said, "Since you are here, then the bronze mirror should also be here."
Feng Wu nodded and explained, "Yes, Master. The bronze mirror is up there."
Following Feng Wu's gaze, Feng Xiyan and the generals looked toward the signal tower. Seeing four more shadow guards stationed at the top, Feng Xiyan said, "Let's go."
With that, he activated his lightness skill and lightly tapped the ground. In the blink of an eye, Feng Xiyan soared into the air, followed closely by Feng Wu and the generals.
Tap. Tap. Tap.
Landing atop the signal tower, Feng Xiyan and the generals were stunned when their eyes fell upon the Artificial Rain Cannon.
Before they could react, the four shadow guards clasped their fists and knelt before Feng Xiyan. "Master."
Feng Xiyan nodded and said, "Stand up."
"Thank you, Master."
As the shadow guards stepped to the side, Feng Xiyan noticed the bronze mirror placed on a small table nearby.
From the antique mirror's surface, Bai Hanyun saw him approaching. With a smile on her face, she asked, "Feng Xiyan, do you like my gift?"
Feng Xiyan picked up the bronze mirror and replied, "Fairy Bai, Xiyan likes this gift very much."
Grinning with delight, Bai Hanyun said, "I'm glad you do."
Then she added, "Feng Xiyan, show me the sky. I want to see if using one bullet is enough to create rain or not."
At her request, Feng Xiyan tilted the bronze mirror toward the sky, then walked toward the Artificial Rain Cannon.
Seeing him approach, Zhan Qi exclaimed, "Great General, this is truly a heavenly artifact! Captain Feng Wu said that by loading the bullet and shooting it into the sky, we can summon rain!"
Listening to his words, Feng Xiyan curiously asked, "Fairy Bai, can this heavenly artifact really create rain?"
With a smug smile, Bai Hanyun replied, "Of course. I was truly fortunate to find this Artificial Rain Cannon. If not for Boss Shen's fondness for inventing things, I would never have obtained such a treasure."
Feng Xiyan's brows furrowed slightly when he heard the name "Boss Shen" from Bai Hanyun.
'This isn't the first time Fairy Bai has mentioned this person called Boss Shen. I wonder what their relationship is…'
Unaware that her words had stirred Feng Xiyan's feelings, Bai Hanyun excitedly continued, "Feng Xiyan, if we can create rain, there is a chance we can end the drought ahead of time."
At her words, everyone present immediately turned their eyes to the bronze mirror.
Feng Xiyan's eyes lit up as he asked, "Fairy Bai, can you truly end the drought ahead of time?"
Recalling what Shen Yi had told her the day before, Bai Hanyun replied, "Before I answer your question, I need to check the condition of the soil and water level. Feng Xiyan, can you show me the state of the soil and the nearby water sources?"
"Yes." Feng Xiyan answered, then turned to Feng Wu and ordered, "Feng Wu, you and the others stay here and guard the heavenly artifact."
Feng Wu and the shadow guards clasped their fists and replied in unison, "This subordinate accepts the order."
After giving his command, Feng Xiyan turned to the generals and said, "Everyone, let's go."
"Yes, Great General." The generals answered at the same time.
Holding the bronze mirror, Feng Xiyan leapt down from the signal tower, followed by the generals.
From the watchtower nearby, Gui Ying's eyes flickered with surprise as he caught sight of the bronze mirror in Feng Xiyan's hand.
