Chapter 26: Madam Mingzhu, Yan Lingji (Second Update)_1
「Blood Robe Castle.」
A white-haired man clad in red, with an indifferent expression, stood with his hands behind his back, his deep gaze fixed on the distant horizon.
Standing beside him was a stunning, alluring woman.
She was tall and shapely, dressed in a long black lace dress. Her perfectly contoured figure, complemented by a waist-cinching fishtail skirt, was a match made in heaven.
Her three thousand strands of dark hair gently undulated, cascading like a waterfall, framing an elegant and bewitching oval face that shone as pale as jade—nearly flawless.
Resplendent in her beauty, shining like a luminous pearl.
Worthy of the title 'Madam Mingzhu.'
She was none other than the Azure Sea Tide Demoness—Madam Mingzhu.
She possessed a pair of deep eyes capable of ensnaring a soul—attractive, mysterious, coldly enchanting, and slender. This was an epitome of otherworldly beauty, the kind destined to bring disaster to nations.
Yet, it was precisely such a "demoness" that was most adored by men; ninety-nine percent of the men in the world were unable to resist her charms.
"Han country is doomed!" Lord White of Blood Robe Castle said indifferently, without a trace of emotion.
"Indeed. How can mere mortals contend with Divine Spirits? Not just Han country, the Six Kingdoms are all doomed!" Madam Mingzhu sighed, her eyes flitting about, bewitching the mind.
Having witnessed the greatness of the God of Hongmeng, they truly felt their own insignificance. The power and interests they fought over meant nothing in the presence of the God of Hongmeng.
"Qin Kingdom is selecting beauties for the next sacrifice to the Divine Spirits. Perhaps you could give it a try!" Lord White said slowly, revealing his purpose.
Although Madam Mingzhu was King Han's concubine, King Han had never so much as laid a finger on her, not even a single hair.
Madam Mingzhu, as the Azure Sea Tide Demoness, one of the four fiends of the Night Curtain, might not have remarkable martial arts, but she was a master of poisons, illusions, seduction, pharmacology, and fragrances.
She had left King Han dizzy with enchantment every time, with each delightful experience being nothing more than a dream woven by Madam Mingzhu.
"Fine!" Madam Mingzhu pondered for a moment before agreeing.
Even Jing Ni, a ruthless assassin and a merciless killing machine, had the qualifications to be offered in sacrifice and ascend to divinity in one step. I don't believe I'm inferior to her! My martial arts might not match Jing Ni's, but in talent, figure, intellect, or tactics, I don't consider myself any less. I naturally won't let slip this chance for divinity!
「General's Mansion.」
There sat Ji Wuye, fierce and hideous, on an elongated seat, cradling two enchanting beauties in his arms. His gaze was dark and ferocious, and the two beauties in his arms trembled, gritting their teeth as they endured the rough handling of his coarse hands.
Below him was a paunchy man with a large belly. The fat man was garishly dressed, with a benign smile, looking every bit the amiable businessman.
This was Ji Wuye's confidant, Jade Tiger, one of the four fiends of the Night Curtain.
"The General seems to be in a bad mood," Jade Tiger sipped his wine casually, smiling warmly at Ji Wuye.
"With Han country's doom, my position as General is just for show!" Ji Wuye said irritably, waving the two beauties out of his arms.
"Then why not seek a different path, General?" Jade Tiger suggested as the two beauties left.
"You mean to defect to Qin Kingdom, or to the Divine Spirits?" Ji Wuye pondered aloud.
"Qin Kingdom is the prevailing power, the one determined by destiny. How can we mortals defy the Heavens?" Jade Tiger spoke without haste, his voice like a soothing spring breeze. "Of course, if we can forge ties with the Divine Spirits, that would be even better."
"Becoming believers of the Upper God just like everyone else gives us no advantage, nor do we know how to worship the Upper God. The only thing we can do is…" Ji Wuye's eyes gleamed fiercely, his voice trailing off.
Jade Tiger continued for him, "…to select some beauties to send to the Qin Kingdom. If they are chosen, then we will have a powerful patron!"
Ji Wuye nodded. The problem, however, was what kind of beauties to send. Ordinary ones would have little chance of being selected; after all, this was for the service of Divine Spirits, and common beauties would not suffice. At the very least, they needed peerless elegance, beauty that could topple empires, or remarkable talents and grace. Their status, it seemed, wouldn't matter—even an assassin like Jing Ni had been deemed acceptable.
Ji Wuye looked at Jade Tiger and asked, "Tiger, do you have any peerless beauties on hand that are fit to present?"
Jade Tiger's face showed his difficulty. He had no shortage of beauties at his disposal, but none that truly stood out as exceptionally beautiful, with the qualifications to ascend to the heavens and serve the Upper God, it seemed.
Suddenly, a stroke of inspiration flashed through Jade Tiger's mind, and a fiery red figure appeared in his thoughts. Gentle as water, passionate as fire. A peerless enchantress, blazing like a flame, captivating as a true demoness. With her unparalleled allure, few in the world could match her. If she were to participate, she would surely stand out.
"Tiger, have you thought of any good candidates?" Ji Wuye noticed Jade Tiger's expression shift from difficulty to a sudden jolt—he must have thought of someone.
"General, although I've been collecting beauties to supply the needs of the Tide Demoness, all those women are just ordinary, suitable for mundane men like King Han. It's virtually impossible for them to stand out."
"However, I did think of an exceptional demoness, it's just…" Jade Tiger hesitated, looking troubled.
"Just what? Out with it, don't hem and haw!" Ji Wuye said impatiently, hating it when others beat around the bush.
"Does the General still remember Yan Lingji, whom we captured from Baiyue?" Jade Tiger said cautiously, knowing this matter was top secret—so much so that not even King Han knew of it.
"Yan Lingji?"
An enchantingly ravishing figure immediately flashed through Ji Wuye's mind, and he mused aloud, "Indeed, that woman's beauty could topple nations; she's a peerless enchantress, naturally seductive to the bone. Even I was quite moved at the time, very tempted to have a taste. However, she hails from Baiyue and is proficient in the arts of poison and enchantment—a very dangerous individual. It won't be easy to make her work for us."
Ji Wuye hesitated. My purpose for sending beauties is the same as King Han's—hoping to have someone influential in the heavens to smooth things over later. But if this person already bears a grudge against me, not only would she not look out for me after ascending, but she might also seek revenge. That would be like trying to steal a chicken only to end up losing the rice bait—a complete waste.
Jade Tiger remained silent, fully aware of the stakes involved. Hence, when he had mentioned Yan Lingji before, he had stopped short of speaking further.
Ji Wuye thought it over; it seemed there were no other good candidates. The Tide Demoness, one of the four fiends of the Night Curtain, might be suitable, but she's closer to Lord White of Blood Robe Castle. And Lord White and I are not on the same page. I need to make other preparations.
Thinking it through, Ji Wuye said, "Every person has a weakness. Go and make contact with Yan Lingji. We're not looking for her to serve us!
"If she can stand out and ascend to heaven to serve the Upper God, her loyalty will belong only to the Upper God. We have no right to command her!
"As long as she doesn't oppose us, and could give us some consideration within her capabilities later on, I will release her and allow her to head to the Qin Kingdom for the selection!
"If she has any unfulfilled wishes or someone she wants me to look after, I can also help take care of them!"
"I understand!" Jade Tiger nodded. These women offered as sacrifices were never people we had the right to control. All we truly need is the merit from the act of sacrifice, to obtain more divine grace from the Upper God. Furthermore, if these sacrificed individuals are known to have ties to us, others will be more cautious, allowing us to leverage their influence. Finally, if these individuals could ever return, or perhaps influence matters on our behalf from the heavens, even a little consideration from them would be more than enough.
