Chapter 19: Refusal
Refusal
"I had no idea wind could be used like this. You're a genius sir!" Titus said with excitement and Christopher chuckled.
'That's just basic knowledge from earth. This world relies a whole lot on magic, so their scientific knowledge is pretty basic.' Christopher thought.
It wasn't really strange though, they had magic to do most of the things they needed, so they never had much need to find an alternative to achieve a similar result. Just like how on earth, science is the best option, so other alternatives weren't really necessary.
But Christopher, who knew about both magic and science, had quite the advantage. And he was going to use it to its absolute peak.
"Well. That's your current assignment I guess. You'll spend the rest of this evening training to eliminate wind resistance. You will also train with your sword and train your body with those weights. It will be arduous, but when they no longer have any impact on you, trust me when I say you will feel weightless." Christopher said and Titus nodded.
"I will train earnestly sir." He said and Christopher smiled.
"I trust that you will." He said before deciding to leave the training room. He already explained the theory behind eliminating wind resistance, so he had no reason to be there anymore and would only come again when Titus had gotten a hang of the technique.
When he stepped out of the room. He paused And turned to the side. There, he saw Titus' muscular elder brother leaning against the wall.
"I almost didn't see you there, Lord Han. Good evening" Christopher said with a slight smile.
"I'm surprised you noticed me. I couldn't help but listen to how you were teaching my brother. And I must say, your method of removing 'wind resistance' is quite ingenious. How did you learn it?" Han asked.
"That, is a secret. But what I will say is that I have no qualms with sharing similar information." Christopher replied without hesitation.
"Interesting. I'm very curious about you, Christopher." Han said without a change in expression.
"I'm flattered, Lord Han." Christopher wasn't fettered either.
"So what are your plans for the rest of this evening?" Han asked.
"I'll eat and go to sleep." Christopher replied simply.
"Hmm. Would you be interested in accompanying me for a walk?" The sudden request took Christopher off guard.
"... I wouldn't mind." Christopher shrugged and Han finally let out a smile.
"Alright. Let's go then."

For the first twenty or so minutes, neither Han or Christopher said a word as they just walked through the Palace. Han seemed to be deep in thought and Christopher was admiring the scenery.
They then ended up outside where the dim moonlight shone on them. Christopher looked up and saw a night sky filled with millions of stars and nebulas that gave off a faint purple hue, and the large moon that seemed much closer to the planet than the one that was near earth.
Christopher felt a sense of awe and satisfaction at this scene. He was happy that he didn't come to this world with some terrible handicap or anything like that. He was just vibing.
"So what are your plans?" Finally, Han broke the silence.
"As in?" Christopher stared at him with a raised brow.
"Exactly that. What do you plan to do from now on? I can't imagine what someone as talented as yourself would want to do. You have no interest in joining any forces which speaks volumes about your interest towards status and popularity. You could easily make a name for yourself and become wealthy and influential. But you haven't done So. You're a walking enigma." Han said and Christopher stared at the sky.
"Honestly. It's pretty basic." He said and chuckled.
"I want to get stronger, and there are two reasons for that." Han raised a brow this time.
"And they are?" He probed and Christopher chuckled.
"Well for starters. I want to be able to live my life without being under the rule of anyone. I want to be able to do what I want without care for how people see me. I just wanna enjoy myself." He said and Han rolled his eyes.
"You're right, that is pretty basic. Then what's the other thing?" He asked and Christopher let out a sad and melancholic smile.
"I want to find someone. I don't know where she is or how to find her. But I know she's out there. And I need to get strong enough to search for her. So I will, and I will find her. No matter what it takes." Naturally, Christopher was talking about Joan.
Han stared at him with some surprise.
"I didn't take you for the lovesick type." He joked and Christopher chuckled.
"I guess I don't appear that way either. Then again, I see no reason to put my emotions of full display." He said and Han nodded.
"That's right." At this point, the two of them had arrived in a huge garden that was filled with countless beautiful flowers.
"So this is the royal palace huh?" Christopher noted and Han nodded before turning to him.
"How do you feel about becoming an envoy?" He asked.
"Envoy?"
"Mhm. A diplomat basically. You have the strength. And you're pretty charismatic. The role would fit you well." Han explained, however, Christopher shook his head.
"I thank you for the offer, but I have my own plans." To this, Han frowned.
"I know your top priority is getting stronger. But shouldn't you make yourself busy during that time? Surely you won't spend every day of your life getting stronger. Besides, You said you're looking for someone and you have no idea where she is. Wouldn't it be better to become an envoy where you can search for her whenever you get sent out?" Han Said sounding genuinely confused.
But then he was even more surprised when Christopher started to laugh out loud.
"Pfft. I'm sorry Lord Han. But I'll tell you straight. I DO know where she is. However, getting there for me is impossible. And I can only do it when I'm stronger. Much, much stronger than I am right now. Moreover, I don't plan on just getting stronger without doing anything. I have my own plans so don't worry about me. I'll be fine." Christopher said and Han stared at him.
"Just how much stronger would you need to become then? And does that girl mean that much to you that you're willing to go so far?" Han asked and Christopher sighed.
"I Don't know to be honest. I just need to be stronger. And yes, that girl means that much to me. She's the reason I'm still alive after all."
