Mushoku Tensei: This reencarnación is strange!!

Chapter 74: Marriage preparations! 11 fiancées?!

"..." The system notification only made me fall silent. What the hell did this even mean in the first place?!

[Ding]

[The skill will help the Host become the king of Asura more quickly while implanting a subconscious idea in the minds of the Ars population and its most powerful nobles!]

"Oh my... so the system wants me to directly become the king of Asura, huh? How original, Morgan..." I muttered in my mind.

"Rudy? Something's wrong? You got distracted out of nowhere," Sylphie murmured as she gently tugged on my shirt sleeve.

"It's nothing, I'm just thinking about what to do. I had planned for us to get married first, but obviously I need a house first," I said with a smile, and she immediately blushed... no, both Eris and Elinalise blushed at my comment, remaining silent for the rest of the trip.

So the four of us headed back to the city center to the inn where the others were resting, and I immediately told them the news.

My mother, Kishirika, and Lilia were the most excited by this.

Lilia, on the other hand, kept her composure, but I could tell she was excited too, given the slight blush on her cheeks and the way she was looking at me.

Hilda and Hope... they looked completely discouraged, but I had already promised them I would find a way to marry them, and I'm not going back on my word.

But the ones disturbed by this were obviously those idiots Philip and my poor father-in-law, Laws.

"Let me get this straight... you're marrying your own mother... your maid... Ghislaine... and your father-in-law's mother..." Philip muttered in complete shock. It was clear that the subject of Ghislaine still pissed him off. The idiot is in love with her, and it shows.

"Philip, do you have a problem with that?" Ghislaine asked, her hand not so discreetly going to the handle of her sword.

The man paled and quickly shook his head.

"N-no! Of course not!... J-just... I-I never expected to see something like that..." he muttered, lowering his head in embarrassment.

Ghislaine then lost interest in him and looked at me with a smile.

"That's my plan, but first I need to get a house. What will you do?" I asked my in-laws.

"I also want to see what jobs I can get and then buy a house," Laws said, scratching his chin.

Philip, on the other hand, froze at my comment.

"T-t-work?!" He stuttered, fear visible on his face.

"W-well, I'll just wait for you to marry Eris, and then we can go claim the Boreas house..." he muttered, a cold sweat breaking out in his head, as if the mere thought of working was one of his worst nightmares. After all, he was a man who had lived his entire life as a nobleman.

Seeing her husband's indecision, Hilda couldn't help but sigh and cover her face with her hand in embarrassment.

"My husband is an idiot!" she screamed in her mind in frustration.

Eris, on the other hand, just looked at her father with a look that screamed "pathetic."

"Uh... but that would be a problem, father-in-law... Eris is barely 12 years old... we'd have to wait at least a year for us to get married so I could claim the Boreas house, and... aren't we forgetting Lord Saurus?" I muttered, and all eyes fell on me, especially Eris's.

"Hah!" She yelped softly and slapped her forehead.

"My grandfather! I had completely forgotten about him!" she exclaimed, slightly embarrassed, and Philip clicked his tongue in frustration.

"My father... do you think he's still alive?" he asked, slightly annoyed.

"I can't confirm anything, and I don't know where he was teleported to, so I know as much as you do about that," I said, and he clicked his tongue, then looked at me embarrassedly.

"R-Rudeus... I-I know this might sound a little shameless, but... will you allow us to live with you while I get a job?" Philip muttered, while Hilda and Eris looked at me pleadingly. It was clear that they also wanted to live with me.

I smiled slightly and then nodded slightly.

"Of course, father-in-law, after all, we are family, but in that case, I'll have to look for a big house for all of us..." I said, looking at him out of the corner of my eye.

Philip understood what I meant and, like the scoundrel he is, looked at me with the best fake smile he could offer.

"Oh! Of course, Rudeus! Once I get a job, I'll pay you back for everything you spent!" he said with a smile, and I nodded.

So, the matter was settled that night, and the next day, I left the inn early in the morning to find the house I was looking for. Obviously, I had an idea.

...

"Hah! Welcome, young man!" I entered a real estate shop in the city's commercial district and a man in a fine robe greeted me. His tone seemed to soften slightly when he saw my age, but he quickly regained his initial enthusiasm.

"What do you want to see?" The man asked with a modest smile, looking me up and down as if examining me or looking at my wallet with X-ray vision.

"I would like a catalog of the available houses. I want to buy one," I replied.

He opened his eyes slightly, but then nodded with a smile. He then reached under his desk and handed me a rather large catalog notebook.

"Here are all the available houses, locations, and prices. Please sit wherever you like and take a look," he said, pointing to a couple of sofas.

I sat down and immediately began searching for the haunted mansion.

Besides its size, it was also a good location—in the northern part of the city and just a five-minute walk from the Magic University—it was an ideal place for me.

So quickly, and in the last few pages of the notebook, I found it.

"Can you tell me which one this is?" I asked, pointing to the map of the haunted mansion.

The seller immediately grimaced as he hesitated whether to tell the truth or lie.

"J-young man... can you tell me your name?" he asked, sweat pouring down his forehead.

"My name is Rudeus... Greyrat," I said. The last name felt wrong coming out of my mouth, but it had the desired effect.

"O-oh! I-I didn't know you were a Greyrat... t-then I must inform you of the bad news that that house... is haunted," he said, preparing for my answer, but I just raised an eyebrow, feigning ignorance.

"Haunted? But how?" I asked.

"Well... to be honest, we don't know what it is. A couple of years ago, a quest was sent to the kingdom of adventurers to cleanse that house... a B-rank group accepted this assignment, and... they were all killed that same night... I don't recommend you pay any more attention to that house," I told him, but I shook my head.

"It seems you don't know who you're talking to, my friend. The name Rudeus Boreas Greyrat will quickly resonate throughout the continent. A simple haunted house will be nothing to me!" I said with a mocking smile, and the guy just sighed, as if he could already imagine my death and the trouble it would bring.

"In that case... please sign a waiver of liability in case anything happens to you," he said, and I nodded.

And so, with a signed paper, the owner of the real estate gave me permission to enter the property.

My priority now would be to destroy the automaton guarding the mansion while it's still daylight and that's what I did.

At first glance the mansion seemed completely neglected, the main doors were barely overlapped and the interior was surprisingly clean, all this obviously due to the automaton.

Finding the basement wasn't difficult, what was difficult was finding the secret room but when I found it I put myself on guard while using gravity magic to open it.

*ziiing!!*

Immediately when the hidden door opened a white spider-shaped doll rushed towards me at high speed.

"..." I simply caught it with gravity magic, crushing it like a ball of paper.

'I'm sorry, Zanoba, but I want to get this over with quickly.' I muttered in my mind as I dropped the remains of the automaton to the ground, but I made sure to save the writings on this one because if my memory serves me correctly this automaton and house belonged to a member of the Dragon race who died long ago.

So with this issue resolved I immediately returned to the real estate store reporting that it was already done.

Obviously the man was in shock but it didn't matter and he paid for the house.

It was surprisingly cheap, only two gold coins for how big it was although it was obvious from its reputation.

But it was also incredibly damaged and it would cost me more to repair it than to sell it and so it was.

I left a request at the adventurer's guild for a capable carpenter and returned to the inn.

"He?! That fast?!" My mother exclaimed in surprise when I told her I had already found a house.

I nodded with a smile and showed her the purchase certificate.

"So in this way we can get married and have more children" I said and she blushed with a dreamy smile.

"Hehe... That sounds amazing.." she muttered as her hand unconsciously went towards her belly.

Although I already knew that she and Lilia were pregnant, I couldn't ruin the surprise for both of them.

"Now we'll just have to wait for the house to be remodeled so we can all get married," I said to the women who had gathered around me.

"Rudy!... B-but you know that we won't be able to get married because of Millis, right?" My mother murmured with concern.

"That's no problem, we'll just have to register our marital status with the adventurer's guild and then we'll all have a big party, how does that sound?" I asked.

"Rudy... I have a better idea..." Roxy murmured shyly as she took my hand.

"Hmm? And what is it?" I asked her curiously.

"You know that some of us are from different races, right?... And only humans have the same traditions and customs, we don't... I was thinking Maybe we should get married one by one, following our customs or in places where we want..." She said in a light tone clearly not expecting too much from her suggestion.

"that... That's actually a good idea Roxy..." I said with a smile and she immediately looked up at me.

"Hah! But in that case we should get married in the order in which we started a relationship with Rudy!" My mother suddenly intervened and tension was generated.

"Well in that case I would be the first, Rudy declared his love for me first" Lilia said with a smile.

"Oh yeah? Well, I was the one who took her virginity! So I must be the first!" My mother said with a pout.

"That's irrelevant, he declared his love for me which is why his first love affair was with me, I will marry him first!" The triumphant smile on Lilia's face created while my mother gritted his teeth with anger.

"...In that case I'll marry you two first... Then with Roxy, I'll wait a couple of years for Sylphie and Eris and I'll continue with Ghislaine and Kishirika and at the end Pursena and Rinia will be the last" I said in a serious tone without leaving words for discussion.

"Hey?! Why are we waiting years to get married, Rudy?!" Eris shouted indignantly.

"Because you are young, they wouldn't let us get married until we are older and you know it" I said with a sigh of exasperation and she just pouted a lot.

"That's not fair! I want to marry Rudy too!" Eris shouted indignantly and her mother hugged her tightly to comfort her.

I could see Hilda and Hope looking at me longingly but they also seemed to understand that I couldn't do anything right now.

"In that case, Rudeus, you should go register your first marriages at the guild." Laws suggested.

"In that case, why don't you tell me where you want us to get married?" I asked as I turned to them.

"I don't mind a human-style wedding," Elinalise said suddenly.

"I... I want to go to the big forest..." Ghislaine said In a calm tone, she had already slightly reconciled with Gyes but it seemed that she also wanted to return.

"I...want it to be in my village...I also want to see my parents" Roxy was next while playing with one of the ends of her pigtails.

"I don't care where it is, as long as Rudy takes me as his wife!" Kishirika said while smiling showing her shark teeth.

"And you Sylphie? Where do you want it to be?" I asked while staring at the green-haired elf.

Still she hesitated for several seconds, and it was obvious.

After all, Buena Village had been destroyed and she had no emotional attachment to any other place.

"I'll think about it when the time comes" she said in the end.

I didn't argue my decision and headed towards Lilia and my mother who blushed deeply upon seeing my intentions.

Still they did not refuse and so the three of us left for the adventurers' guild
