Chapter 322: Uchiha Madara— Revived

— — — — — —

"Also, I heard Konoha recently dealt with the Akatsuki and Suna Village attack? What's the situation—do we know anything?" The Fourth Raikage's voice was serious.

"Did they take heavy losses? Have we sent anyone to scout it out?"

"We already dispatched a team," Mabui reported. "According to intel from our spies, Konoha barely suffered any damage. Apparently, most of the major enemies were drawn away at the very start by Uchiha Renzo. After that, details are scarce… but there were no casualties on Konoha's side."

"Hmph. Keep digging—I want full details," the Raikage ordered with a deep frown.

He had a bad feeling about all this.

Honestly, with Uchiha Renzo around, it was hard to imagine the Akatsuki causing any real damage to Konoha. Even without him, they still had people like: Minato, Orochimaru, Tsunade, Kakashi, Obito, Itachi,... and more. There was even the legendary Uchiha Tom and Senju Jerry.

It wouldn't be easy to shake Konoha anymore.

Konoha had become a powerhouse in recent years—truly overflowing with talent.

In comparison, even though Kumogakure had progressed too, the gap between them had only grown wider.

...

At the same time, other villages—like Iwagakure, Kirigakure, and Sunagakure—had also received Konoha's warning about potential Akatsuki attacks.

Reactions varied.

Ōnoki from Iwa didn't take it too seriously. He'd had a few dealings with Akatsuki in the past—had even hired them to go after Konoha. He never saw them as much of a threat.

Kiri, on the other hand, was far more cautious.

Their Fifth Mizukage, Mei Terumi, suspected that the Blood Mist era under the previous Mizukage, Yagura, may have been influenced—or even controlled—by the Akatsuki.

As for Suna… well, this wasn't just about a warning.

This was about consequences.

Yes, they'd been tricked by Akatsuki too—but Sunagakure had also intended to attack Konoha from the start. So now, they had to face the fallout.

Konoha wasn't going to let this slide without proper compensation.

Let's not forget: the Fourth Kazekage, Rasa, had been captured—along with the One-Tail jinchūriki Gaara, his two siblings, and a whole battalion of Sand shinobi.

They were in no position to bargain.

— — —

Sunagakure.

"Elder Chiyo, Elder Ebizō—only you two can handle this mess. The rest of us… we don't have the authority," a senior jōnin pleaded, kneeling before them.

"I'm long retired. This has nothing to do with me," Chiyo muttered as she slowly reeled in her fishing rod.

"But with the Kazekage captured—along with Gaara-sama, and so many others—there's no one left to speak on the village's behalf!"

The jōnin forced a bitter smile. There were still some high-ranking elders and jōnin in the village, sure—but none of them were willing to take the fall for this.

No matter how they handled it, they knew they'd come out of it looking bad.

Not to mention, none of them had the strength or presence to stand before Konoha.

Fighting amongst themselves in the village was one thing… but facing Konoha directly? No thanks.

Ebizō, sitting beside Chiyo, sighed, shaking his head. "Why even attack Konoha in the first place? We knew they were stronger than ever. What were we thinking?"

"Overestimating ourselves has a limit."

Rasa always seemed like a sharp guy… so how did he mess up this badly?

Before Minato took over, maybe there was a small chance.

But after he became Hokage, Konoha's strength skyrocketed. There was no winning against them now.

"Ahem…"

The jōnin coughed awkwardly. "Actually… many of us were against it from the start. But the Kazekage insisted he had outside help lined up. And… he did."

"Oh?" Ebizō raised an eyebrow. "And who exactly was stupid enough to help him?"

"Akatsuki."

The jōnin lowered his head in shame. "They really did send people to assist with the attack. But… Uchiha Renzo used some space-time technique right away and teleported all of them out of Konoha."

"From what our spies tell us, most of the Akatsuki were captured in that battle."

"…Oh, and one more thing—this might be important," the jōnin added, his eyes suddenly lighting up. "We got intel on your grandson, Lady Chiyo. Sasori of the Red Sand."

"…What?" Chiyo's hands froze. She dropped her fishing rod and practically teleported to the jōnin's side.

"You're sure? It's really Sasori?!"

"No doubt," he nodded. "It's him. But there's more—something even more shocking."

The jōnin took a deep breath before continuing. "Our spy saw Sasori fighting Konoha shinobi… and he was using a human puppet made from the body of the Third Kazekage."

"…They suspect it was Sasori who killed him all those years ago."

Chiyo and Ebizō both went pale.

That incident had been huge. It was what kicked off the Third Great Ninja War. At the time, they'd blamed Konoha for the Kazekage's disappearance.

But now? The truth was out.

It had been their own blood behind it all.

"No… so it really was you, Sasori…" Chiyo staggered back a step, her expression filled with pain. "We always had our suspicions. But back then, we had no choice but to blame Konoha."

"…Now it's all out in the open."

"And going to Konoha after this mess? It's not going to end well."

Clearly, Konoha already knew the truth.

There was no way they'd just let it go.

If Sunagakure wanted to clean up this disaster…They were going to pay a very heavy price.

No wonder the Elders and senior Jonin of the Sand Village are all avoiding this like the plague.

"How's Sasori doing now?"

Chiyo finally broke the silence.

"He's been captured by Konoha. But… he should still be alive."

The suna Jonin replied carefully.

Chiyo sighed and waved her hand. "Fine. You can get up. This old lady will make the trip myself."

"Y-Yes! Thank you, Lady Chiyo!"

The Jonin looked visibly relieved, bowing deeply in gratitude.

At least his mission was done—he wouldn't have to deal with the fallout himself.

"You're heading to Konoha, sister? Then I'll go with you."

Ebizō chimed in with a warm smile. "It's been a while since I've left the village. Might as well take a look at how Konoha's changed. I've heard they're doing pretty well these days."

He sighed.

"While they keep moving forward, we've been stuck in reverse. And with our current Kazekage… let's just say the future isn't looking too bright."

Chiyo gave a silent nod in response.

Meanwhile, deep underground in the Land of Rivers, in a vast underground chamber…

"Edo Tensei?!"

"Ugh… I'm back? Tch, so I really died, huh? Figures. Uchiha Renzo… I never stood a chance against him."

Freshly revived by Black Zetsu's Edo Tensei, Uchiha Aiko looked grim and irritated.

"I told you, didn't I? You let your guard down too much," Black Zetsu said as he moved through Nagato's reanimated body, shaking his head.

Of course, he hadn't warned him too hard either—he'd wanted to use Aiko's life to test Renzo's strength. Unfortunately, that didn't pan out.

"Enough about that. I need to revive more people," Black Zetsu muttered, turning his attention back to the ritual.

"This time… even Madara might need to be brought back."

Uchiha Aiko frowned and quickly cut in. "Not just Madara. Senju Hashirama, Senju Tobirama, all the past Kage—even the top powerhouses from the other villages. We bring them all back."

"This time, we prepare properly. No mistakes. We won't get a third shot at this."

Aiko clenched his fists, voice firm.

"This time… we win."

"Exactly what I was thinking," Black Zetsu agreed.

Then he resumed his ritual.

He and White Zetsu had spent the last few months robbing graves all over the continent, gathering the remains of powerful shinobi—enough for a massive wave of revivals.

Soon after, Uchiha Madara emerged from the smoke and ash, fully reanimated.

"Hm?"

At first, Madara looked pleased to be back. But then he narrowed his eyes and frowned.

"This is… Edo Tensei, isn't it? So something went wrong with the plan after all? Black Zetsu?"

"You're right, Lord Madara."

Black Zetsu gave a small nod. "It's all because of Uchiha Renzo. He's thrown everything into chaos. And now, Konoha has become an even tougher opponent than ever before."

"We had no choice. Without reviving you and the rest of the strongest shinobi from the past, we don't even have the power to challenge them."

Then, Black Zetsu laid out everything that had happened over the years—the setbacks, the failed Akatsuki plan, and the current status quo.

The more Madara listened, the darker his expression grew.

"So let me get this straight… after all these years, you've accomplished practically... nothing? Even the Akatsuki, your little shadow organization, has been wiped out?"

He sneered.

"You really are impressive, you know that?" He didn't even feel like calling him useless. That word would be an insult—to the real useless people.

The enemy had only grown stronger, while they watched from the sidelines.

Still, now that he was back, things would be different.

"There are some perks to having an Edo Tensei body," Madara said as he clenched his fist and examined himself. A cold smirk tugged at his lips.

"Unlimited chakra. No real injuries. Practically immortal. Senju Tobirama really was a genius."

Black Zetsu chuckled nervously. "Heh, true, true…"

"…Hm?"

Madara glanced over, narrowing his eyes at Black Zetsu. Something about his tone didn't sit right with him.

Black Zetsu sensed the tension and quickly looked down, switching the subject.

"Anyway, Lord Madara, we might need you to lead the charge in collecting the Tailed Beasts."

Madara nodded. "Got it. Keep reviving the others."

"Oh, and don't revive Hashirama or Tobirama just yet," he added. "You won't be able to control them."

Even now, Madara could feel it—his full-powered self could easily break the Edo Tensei's control. If he could do it, Hashirama and Tobirama definitely could too, especially if they figured out the hand seals.

"Understood," Black Zetsu said, nodding once.

That had been his plan too.

"Oh, and what exactly is Uchiha Renzo's current power level? Got any detailed intel on him?"

Madara suddenly asked.

"…Uhh…"

Black Zetsu and Aiko both stiffened.

Black Zetsu gave a helpless sigh.

"Honestly, we don't know much. But… blah blah blah…"

He went on to share what little they'd gathered so far.

"In short, just be extra careful when fighting him—especially his space-time techniques. They're on a whole other level."

Black Zetsu finished with a grim look.

To be honest, even he was frustrated as hell.
