Multiverse Gacha

Chapter 429: [427] Injured

Boom!

As August's immense magical power surged, the surrounding darkness intensified, swallowing everything in its path.

Yukina Himeragi, sensing the looming threat, wasted no time. She swiftly opened the violin case strapped to her back and pulled out her weapon, the Schneewolf.

The Schneewolf was no ordinary weapon. It was the only Type Seven Anti-Demon Assault Cannon imbued with the Lion King Organization's proprietary "Divine Vibration Wave Activation Technique," a mechanism that nullified magic.

However, while Schneewolf was specifically designed to counter vampires and demons, its efficacy against someone like August was questionable.

The weapon's supposed ability to "restore the world to its original state" held little meaning against August. As the embodiment of primal darkness and original sin, August was the "original state."

Moreover, Schneewolf's anti-magic properties mattered little to him, as August rarely relied on spells or traditional magic. His favored abilities, such as the Dragon's Shadow and Gate of Babylon, rendered the Schneewolf nothing more than a well-crafted artifact in his eyes.

"Interesting," August mused, his tone sharp and condescending. "You've drawn your weapon. Does this mean you've made your decision?"

A thunderous roar erupted as a torrent of magical energy poured from August. In an instant, everything within a ten-kilometer radius fell silent. People collapsed unconscious where they stood, succumbing to the oppressive force of his Conqueror's Haki.

At the epicenter, Yukina Himeragi struggled to remain conscious, gripping the Schneewolf tightly. Her breaths were shallow, and her vision swam, yet she clung to wakefulness with sheer determination.

Far away, a shikigami sparrow observed the scene, its tiny eyes gleaming with urgency. It silently transmitted everything it saw to its master.

"Himeragi, you're far too reckless," her superior sighed, watching the unfolding chaos through the sparrow's eyes. "To confront someone who might be at a True Ancestor's level... and tell him you're there to spy on him? How could this not go wrong? Inform her immediately—if this escalates, we'll all pay the price."

With that, the sparrow transformed into a paper talisman and vanished into the distance, leaving the disaster to unfold.

Meanwhile, Yukina's heart pounded in her chest as she faced August. The weight of his presence alone left her reeling, and now she truly understood the magnitude of the gap between them.

He had defeated the Fourth Primogenitor's Familiars and the Lion King Organization's most esteemed elder, Ancient Yume. How could she, a mere sword shaman, hope to stand against him?

"Sword Shaman of the Lion King Organization," August's voice broke through her turmoil, cold and unyielding. "Let's see what makes you think you have the right to spy on me."

Yukina's grip on Schneewolf tightened. "Lord August, the Lion King Organization bears you no ill will."

"No ill will?" His laughter was sharp and scornful. "You're spying on me, yet you claim no ill will? Tell me—what exactly does ill will look like?"

"It's for the safety of Itogami Island. Your power is too immense, and if—"

"Sword Shaman," August interrupted, his voice laced with disdain. "You are either astonishingly arrogant or profoundly ignorant. Do you have any sense of respect for a true sovereign?"

Before she could respond, the shadowy blade of his Dragon's Shadow ability tore through the air. It struck Schneewolf with such force that Yukina was sent flying backward, her body slamming into a nearby lamppost.

The pole crumpled under the impact, while Yukina collapsed to the ground, her breathing ragged. Though her injuries weren't life-threatening, the overwhelming difference in strength left her shaken to the core.

"Descendant of Sanni, Sword Shaman of the High God Shrine," Yukina murmured, gripping Schneewolf tightly as she began to chant. "O divine wolf of snowy dawn, I beseech thee—lend me the steel of your divine might to vanquish these evil spirits!"

Schneewolf's barrel expanded as seven magic circles appeared, glowing faintly. The intricate sigils aligned, forming a single unified array.

The Divine Vibration Wave Activation Technique was ready.

"Oh?" August's lips curled into a sardonic smile. "So, Sword Shaman, you're aiming that weapon at me. Does this mean you intend to kill me?"

"No!" Yukina shouted, her voice steady despite her trembling hands. "I only wish to stop you from causing further destruction."

August chuckled darkly. "Such noble words. Stop me, you say? I wonder… what makes you think you even have the right to say that?"

"I don't know," Yukina admitted. "But I won't give up."

"How amusing." August waved his hand dismissively, his tone mocking. "Let's see if you can back up that conviction."

With a flick of his wrist, the shadowy blades of Dragon's Shadow faded. In their place, golden ripples appeared in the air behind him, signaling the activation of his Gate of Babylon.

From these shimmering portals emerged weapons—dozens of them, glinting with deadly intent.

"Come," August said, his voice calm and commanding. "Show me what you're capable of, Sword Shaman of the Lion King Organization."

The weapons launched forward with a resounding hum, streaking toward Yukina like bullets.

Yukina braced herself, wielding Schneewolf with precision. Despite the barrage, she managed to deflect or evade most of the attacks. Her movements were a delicate dance, blending grace and desperation as she fought to survive the onslaught.

August watched her with a detached curiosity. Yukina Himeragi—the first heroine of the original story. Stubborn, proud, and possessive to a fault. Now that she had been sent to his side, August saw no reason to push her away.

However, before accepting her, there were lessons to be taught. She needed to understand the balance of power. Respect had to be earned—and August was no fool like Akatsuki Kojou.

He would not let a mere girl dictate the terms of their relationship.

"Ah!" Yukina gasped as a lance slipped through her defense, piercing her leg. Blood spattered the ground as pain shot through her body, breaking her rhythm. She collapsed to the ground, Schneewolf flying from her grasp.

August smirked. "That's all it took? How disappointing."

He approached her slowly, the golden ripples of his Gate of Babylon shimmering behind him.

"Perhaps now you understand," August said, his voice low and menacing. "Strength demands respect. And until you learn that… you'll remain nothing more than a pawn."
