Chapter 48: MCSDB Chapter 40 Frustration and Arrival
"Bang!"
"Useless!"
"You're all useless! He is a mere Saiyan child and you lost track of him again? How many times is this now?"
Inside a massive spaceship, Cui's furious voice echoed through the control room. His sharp gaze swept over the group of brawny aliens standing before him, each one trembling under his intense scrutiny. His expression was grim.
Over two months ago, Cui had received a direct order from Frieza Sama to handle the aftermath of the incident on Mid Level Planet. To his astonishment, he discovered that the Saiyan sent on a supposed suicide mission had somehow sold his spaceship mid-journey and vanished from their radar.
This unexpected turn of events darkened Cui's mood, and he immediately sprang into action.
Fortunately, his response was swift. Within ten days, he managed to locate the new spaceship through various tracking measures on Planet Tatar. Without delay, he dispatched his most capable subordinates to apprehend the Saiyan.
Considering that the team he sent out included elites with power levels surpassing 7,000 to 8,000, Cui was confident that capturing the Saiyan would be a routine matter.
However, things didn't go according to plan.
A month ago, his subordinates tracked down the spaceship, only to find it abandoned on an unknown, desolate planet. The Saiyan had vanished once more.
Frustrated but determined, Cui ordered a thorough investigation along their route.
Once again, luck seemed to be on their side – they found traces of the Saiyan's movements. Yet, as before, the result was disappointing.
The spaceship they found had been abandoned again.
"Find him! Keep looking!" Cui's enraged voice reverberated through the spaceship.
The aliens, drenched in cold sweat, hurriedly began their search, frantically operating the control panels.
As the army of the galactic emperor, the Frieza Force was renowned for its formidable capabilities and efficiency. After another half-month of searching, they finally picked up new traces. Without hesitation, Cui acted on the information.
But it was already too late.
Jiang Chen, determined to evade the Frieza Force's relentless pursuit, had gone to great lengths to cover his tracks.
He hadn't merely switched spaceships twice – he had done so five times.
Unlike the first time, where he simply sold his old ship and bought a new one, Jiang Chen adopted a more elaborate strategy for each subsequent switch. Each time he changed ships, he programmed the abandoned vessel to fly in a specific direction before leaving it behind.
Even if the Frieza Force managed to track down one of these decoys, they would only find an empty ship drifting aimlessly through space. Meanwhile, Jiang Chen would already be aboard a new spaceship, traveling in a completely different direction.
By the time the Frieza Force caught on, he had already switched ships again.
In just over two months, Jiang Chen had switched spaceships five times in total.
As for how he acquired so many ships, part of it came from trading supplies he had carefully prepared back on Planet Vegeta. The rest came from the rewards he earned thanks to his battle power of over 1,000.
Although a power level of around 1,000 wasn't particularly high, it was enough to establish him as a competent fighter in the galaxy. Securing a couple of spaceships wasn't difficult at all.
As for whether his actions were ethical or not, Jiang Chen didn't hesitate. When it came to a choice between morality and survival, he chose survival without a second thought.
It was precisely because of his decisiveness that he managed to completely vanish from the Frieza Force's radar.
Had he hesitated even for a moment, the outcome might have been entirely different.
Escaping from the grand spectacle Frieza had meticulously planned – the mass extermination of the Saiyans – was no easy feat.
In the original story, excluding non-canon characters like Turles from the movies and Vegeta's brother Tarble from the special episodes, only a handful of Saiyans survived: Vegeta, Nappa, Raditz, the protagonist Kakarot, Broly, and Broly's father, Paragus.
Vegeta's squad survived only because Frieza deliberately allowed it. Kakarot's survival was a result of his protagonist status. Broly and Paragus had already left Planet Vegeta long before Frieza initiated his plan.
Apart from these exceptions, not a single other Saiyan survived the purge.
Even when Frieza initiated the destruction of Planet Vegeta, there were Saiyan children who had left the planet shortly before on missions. Despite this, none of them managed to escape their fate.
Theoretically, Jiang Chen wouldn't have been an exception either.
However, thanks to his decisiveness and meticulous preparations, he found a possible way out.
In the silent expanse of space...
"Only one more month!"
Inside the cramped spaceship, Jiang Chen gazed at the star map in front of him and murmured softly.
Although he had switched spaceships several times, his overall direction had never changed – he was still heading toward Namek.
Now, only a month remained until he would arrive.
The thought of reaching Namek filled Jiang Chen with anticipation.
Initially, his plan was to head either to Namek or Planet Yardrat.
Namek was well-known for its Dragon Balls and the Great Elder, who possessed the ability to unlock hidden potential. Reaching Namek would undoubtedly grant Jiang Chen a significant power boost.
Planet Yardrat, on the other hand, was also a viable option. As a unique and mysterious planet, Yardrat was home to incredible abilities, including the legendary Instant Transmission technique. In terms of energy manipulation and advanced techniques, Yardrat was even more advanced than Namek.
However, Jiang Chen ultimately had to give up on that idea.
The reason was simple – at the moment, neither the Frieza Force nor anyone on Planet Tatar knew the exact location of Planet Yardrat. Finding it under such circumstances was nearly impossible.
Thus, Namek became his only choice.
With his eyes gleaming, countless thoughts swirled in Jiang Chen's mind. Meanwhile, his spaceship streaked across the starry void, heading swiftly toward Namek like a flowing beam of light.
…
Time flew by quickly.
In the blink of an eye, a month had passed.
At a certain point in space…
Cui stared at the wreckage of a broken spaceship, his face twisted in fury, unable to contain his frustration.
Moments later...
"Boom!"
"Boom!"
Brilliant explosions erupted like fireworks in the vast expanse of space.
Inside his spaceship, a trembling Cui reported to Frieza.
"Oh ho ho, Cui, this is quite the unpleasant news."
"So, what you're telling me is that the little wild monkey has disappeared?"
With his signature laugh, Frieza looked at Cui, though the smile on his face seemed to grow more ominous.
"Frieza Sama, please give me a bit more time – one year, just one year at most, and I'll definitely find that damned wild monkey!"
Cui knelt on the floor, his voice trembling with fear. Beads of sweat formed on his forehead, trickling down in a cold sweat.
He had bungled such a simple task, and the potential consequences were beyond what he dared to imagine.
"Quite the clever little monkey, isn't he?"
"One year, you say?"
"I'll be waiting for your good news then, Cui."
"Oh ho ho!"
Surprisingly, Frieza didn't lose his temper. Instead, he chuckled lightly, speaking in an almost playful tone.
"Y-yes, Frieza Sama!"
Overjoyed, Cui hurriedly responded, grateful for the unexpected reprieve.
