Chapter 143: Memorization Genius
Seeing Miya walk away, Raiden finally glanced at Adam.
"Condolences. May your friends rest in peace."
Adam nodded at his brother's words, his silence speaking louder than anything else.
Raiden didn't linger on it.
Instead, he changed the topic to a more comfortable one.
"Don't attack any of the monsters here. If you do, the entire sixth floor will engage in target mode against you. Every second, missiles and bullets will be fired everyday of everysecond until you're gone."
He continued without pause.
"The sixth floor is different. To advance, you don't fight, but instead you study. You'll need to learn the old civilization's technology and then take the floor boss's test."
Raiden's eyes narrowed slightly.
"I'll help you find the materials you'll need. Miya and I will review them too, so all three of us can pass safely. As a Stream Hunter, your memory and thinking are enhanced, so do not worry about overload. Just be diligent."
He stopped, then asked simply.
"Any questions?"
Adam was silent, he already knew these things, and he didn't really need to review much as he had already read most of what was in this floor in his past life.
Of course, unlike the geniuses in innovation and machinery, he had only delved into memorization of the content, not recreation.
After all, he had no interests in machinery or technology.
And he simply did not have the creativity and genius for innovation... at best he could modify things that were already created.
"I do have one question, brother."
Raiden turned toward him.
"What is it?"
Adam's gaze drifted toward the endless mechanical city around them.
"Do you think we'll ever escape this place?"
Raiden raised a brow.
"Of course. Even Miya passed the sixth floor despite never being the studious type. With your intelligence, you'll naturally do better than her."
Adam shook his head.
His voice was low and serious.
"I'm not talking about the sixth floor. I'm talking about the Tower of Yxthar."
Raiden's expression did not change, but he stayed silent.
Adam continued.
"I saw a vision… from a teammate before they died. Celestia and the others are trying to control the Tower before it connects fully to its main consciousness. With the government's help, they might succeed."
He clenched his fists slightly.
"If I told you that I only needed to hand myself in for them to do it… would you let me?"
Raiden didn't hesitate to answer.
"No."
His reply came fast.
Adam turned to him, waiting as though asking why.
Raiden's voice was quiet, but firm.
"Because I simply don't want to."
The words carried no other emotion, only a cold certainty that left no room for argument.
Adam lowered his gaze again, silence falling between them.
The sound of machines in the distance filled the void.
Silently, Adam made the decision to not sacrifice himself for the "greater good".
...
A day of study passed, and Miya was left staring at Adam in disbelief.
"No! I don't believe you studied everything already!"
She shouted in frustration, gripping her hair.
She quickly flipped through one of the thick books in front of her and slammed her finger down on a passage.
"Fine, then answer this! What is the principle behind the energy conversion of a plasma coil reactor?"
Adam didn't even glance at the page.
"Stabilizing magnetic fields prevent the plasma from collapsing in on itself. The reactor's chamber redirects excess energy into secondary capacitors, which then store or redistribute it for continuous output."
"In short... control the heat, maintain the flow, and it'll never overload."
Miya froze. Then she grit her teeth.
"Tch—lucky guess! Okay, then what about this—"
She fired off another question, and another, each one more advanced than the last.
The functions of propulsion stabilizers, the theory behind kinetic ammunition, the memory storage capacity of old-world servers, even obscure details about obsolete weapons technology.
Each time, Adam answered calmly, not even needing to pause.
His voice was steady, almost bored, as though he had already memorized it all long ago.
Miya leaned forward, eyes wide.
"You… you actually read all these books overnight? How did you do it without even taking a break… Or could it be—you're cheating through streamchat for answers?!"
Her finger jabbed at him accusingly.
"Let me tell you something, my cute little brother."
She continued, puffing her cheeks in annoyance.
"Don't rely on that! The streamchat will be turned off the moment the test starts!"
Adam stayed silent, ignoring her glare.
He wasn't using the streamchat to cheat... He really did not even need to.
He had already gone through all these materials once before, far more deeply than most ever would.
A single day of review was enough to refresh the knowledge buried in his head...
And besides, he wasn't like others.
As a Streamhunter with blood related powers, Adam had learned how to control his own blood circulation.
By forcing more blood into his brain, he could keep himself awake, sharpen his focus, and push away fatigue.
His heart pumped faster, his vision stayed clear, and his thoughts flowed without pause.
Sleep wasn't something he needed, not when he commanded his body this way...
Miya collapsed back in her chair with a groan.
"Unbelievable… you're not even human, are you?"
Adam finally looked at her, faintly smiling.
"Just diligent."
Miya puffed her cheeks again but didn't argue.
She glanced over at Raiden, who had been silent until now, quietly watching them.
He did not know how to react...
Although he knew that Adam was an intelligent individual even when he was young, he didn't think it was to this extent...
Was his little brother always this much of a genius...?
Not just him, even the stream chat was dumbfounded.
[Bird Hunter is deeply impressed by the streamer's studying capabilities...]
[Comrade of Wisdom is shaken by the streamer's memorization speed]
[ZippyMagician has donated an F-tier gift]
[You have received] +4 Soul Cores
[ZippyMagician] : Heh. A day? One hour of studying is enough for me.
[Frog Eater] : Really? You can pass the sixth floor with just an hour of studying? As a magician, do your abilities revolve around knowledge?
[ZippyMagicina] : I said enough for me, not enough to pass.
