Chapter 202 Sand Cave

The sand cave was pitch black, like an endless abyss swallowing all light.

The flashlight's beam appeared particularly weak in the darkness, only illuminating a small area ahead.

The three of them pressed close to the wall, moving cautiously, each step filled with the unknown and danger. The walls of the sand cave were sometimes smooth, sometimes rugged, and their fingers tightly gripped the crevices in the wall, fearing a single misstep might cause them to slip.

"Jingqi, be careful," Li Baiyu said softly, her voice exceptionally clear in the darkness. She focused intently on the path ahead, the flashlight casting dappled shadows on the cave walls, shadows that seemed to harbor some secret, sending a chill through her heart.

Shen Jingqi nodded, saying nothing, merely watching their surroundings with heightened alertness. He sensed the aura in the cave growing more intense, as if an unseen force was propelling them forward. This force was both warm and indifferent, pure yet complex, making it impossible for him to discern whether it was benevolent, malevolent, or neutral.

"What is that… that shadow over there?" Renault suddenly exclaimed, pointing ahead. His flashlight uncovered a bizarre shadow, slowly writhing on the cave walls as if it were a living being.

Shen Jingqi and Li Baiyu both followed his direction, seeing the shadow quiver slightly under the light and emitting a low hum, seemingly devoid of hostility. Yet its presence stirred an inexplicable fear within them, as if it were an unknown dangerous creature.

"Don't panic, let's take a look first," Shen Jingqi said in a deep voice, keeping his gaze fixed on the shadow, trying to discern some clue. He realized that despite its eerie appearance, it showed no intention of attacking them. It seemed to be guarding something or guiding them forward.

The three of them held their breath, cautiously approaching the shadow. As they drew near, it suddenly moved, swiftly climbing up the wall, then vanished into the darkness, leaving behind a faint trace as if to assure them of its existence.

"What the… what is going on here?" Renault asked.

Shen Jingqi shook his head, his heart filled with doubt as well.

They continued along the cave, each step taken with caution. The atmosphere in the cave grew increasingly intense, as if an invisible force was attempting to hinder their progress. This force was at times as warm as a spring breeze, at times as cold as ice, and at times neutral like autumn waters.

"I feel... something pulling at me," Li Baiyu suddenly said.

He felt an invisible force trying to draw him deeper into the cave. This force was powerful and mysterious, leaving him unable to resist.

Shen Jingqi and Renault both sensed this force.

"Stay calm, let's stick close together," Shen Jingqi said in a deep voice, reaching out to tightly hold onto Li Baiyu and Renault's hands. The grasp of their hands formed an unbreakable strength.

The pulling force seemed to sense their resolve, gradually weakening. They sighed in relief, though they remained vigilant.

The sand cave still harbored more unknowns and dangers, necessitating constant alertness.

They continued onward, the atmosphere in the cave growing increasingly complex.

The flashlight's beam flickered in the dark, like a lonely traveler's faint lantern in the vast night, illuminating the unknown path ahead. Shen Jingqi led the way, with Li Baiyu close behind, and Renault bringing up the rear, gripping the flashlight whose light danced on his tense face, reflecting a mix of fear and curiosity.

"The aura in this sand cave is becoming more complicated," Shen Jingqi said softly, his voice echoing with a slight tremor in the narrow cave. He felt the air around them was imbued with an indescribable energy, sometimes warm like sunlight washing gently over their faces, offering comfort; other times cold like winter's chill, piercing through them, prompting them to shiver.

Li Baiyu nodded, a hint of concern flickering in his eyes. He sensed that this force seemed to be influencing their minds, causing Illusions. "We have to be careful not to be deceived by these Illusions," he cautioned with a trace of firmness in his voice.

Suddenly, a warm energy like a spring breeze brushed their faces, bringing an inexplicable comfort. Shen Jingqi closed his eyes, taking a deep breath, as if drawing strength from it. But next, a cold energy cut through him like a blade, causing him to shiver uncontrollably. He gritted his teeth, striving to withstand the force's assault.

"Look, what is that?" Renault suddenly exclaimed, pointing ahead. His flashlight revealed a strange sight, the cave walls displaying flowing images like a dream, both surreal and vividly real.

Shen Jingqi and Li Baiyu followed his gaze, seeing familiar desert scenes as well as unusual creatures they had never encountered. These creatures varied in form, some resembling giant insects, others like monsters composed of sand, swimming in water or flying in the air, dazzling their eyes.

"Is this... an Illusion?" Li Baiyu muttered, his heart brimming with doubt. He couldn't determine whether these images were real or simply Illusions.

Shen Jingqi fixed his gaze on the images, a flicker of wariness in his eyes. He knew these images might be an attempt by some force in the cave to confuse them and lead them astray. "Don't be drawn in by these images, let's keep moving," he said firmly, trying to make his voice sound more assured.

They proceeded, but the images clung to their thoughts like a haunting curse. With each step, the images surfaced in their minds, making concentration difficult.

"I feel dizzy," Renault suddenly said, his voice weak. He felt his thoughts being drawn by an invisible force, irresistibly ensnared in the images.

Shen Jingqi and Li Baiyu sensed his unusual state, a nameless fear surging within them. They knew that if Renault succumbed to the images, they too might face the same fate.

"Renault, stay awake!" Shen Jingqi shouted, trying to break Renault from the enchantment with his voice. But Renault seemed not to hear, his eyes growing vacant, body swaying unsteadily.
