Chapter 4
An unexpected timing, and the assistant arrived.
Words floated lightly in the air.
As expected.
I was in the position of doing something like an internet broadcast.
It became clear that the assistant was in the position of a viewer.
There was no better metaphor than this.
The assistant who came was probably watching me in real time from somewhere safe. And that safe place would be the Earth where I originally lived. They sent a support request to a number saved in my phone.
The assistant’s chat continued to flow in.
They were quite an active person.
If I were to express my feelings, I wanted to communicate right away, but…
Unfortunately, I wasn’t in a position to do that now.
Even the slightest sound could alert the spiders to my presence.
I gently pressed my finger to my lips.
It was a gesture to be quiet.
I silently mouthed my words without making a sound.
“I’ll explain later.”
I didn’t know the identity of the assistant, but since they were speaking casually, I decided to use informal speech too.
“I said I’ll explain later.”
The message wasn’t getting across.
Just as I was pondering whether I should stop the spiders’ surveillance and move to a distant place to talk, it happened.
[Ssssh…]
[Sssshhhh…]
The spiders that were lying flat on the ground began to take a nap one by one.
An opportunity to steal their eggs had come.
‘First, let’s get the eggs.’
I postponed communication with the assistant.
I judged that stealing the eggs took priority.
‘Fortunately, there are no guards on duty.’
Quietly.
I held my breath and stepped forward.
The spiders’ habitat was getting closer.
The assistant’s view…
No, it seemed the spiders were also captured on the broadcast screen.
Ignoring the chat, I paused for a moment in my position, slowly rolling my eyes to observe the spiders.
They looked sound asleep.
They seemed totally unaware of my presence.
It was a relief they weren’t sensitive creatures.
‘On the contrary, they seem somewhat dull.’
To avoid accidentally touching the sleeping spiders,
I moved forward carefully, putting attention into every step.
Before I knew it, I had arrived at my destination.
I bent down and carefully picked up one egg.
It was an egg with red spots engraved on it.
I successfully snatched the egg.
Until I left this place, the spiders didn’t wake up.
*
On the way back.
I gazed intently at the egg in my hand.
‘It’s half full.’
The red circular spots engraved on the egg.
They were gradually turning green from the bottom up.
Just like a battery charging up.
‘Once this spot completely turns green, the taming will be complete.’
It didn’t seem to take as long as I thought.
The time my hands touched it was roughly about a minute.
Unless the discoloration speed suddenly slows down.
It meant that taming would take about two minutes.
Of course, this was only the time calculated for this egg.
The stronger the monster, the longer the taming time was expected.
Anyway.
While returning to the hideout, I briefly explained my situation to the assistant 001.
And the assistant’s reaction to my story was…
Naturally, they didn’t believe me.
“It sounds hard to believe, but it’s true. You saw the monsters earlier, didn’t you?”
Maybe it was because they hadn’t seen them move.
The assistant seemed to think of those spiders as dolls.
“What are you talking about all of a sudden?”
“I’m not calm because of the concept. I’ve been dragged into other worlds before and returned, so I’m just steady.”
The first time I was pulled to another world, I was nervous as heck.
There aren’t many people who aren’t afraid of unfamiliar environments.
Now, since it was my second experience, I could act calmly and comfortably.
【001】─Hahaha
“I can’t use magic.”
“Just because I was pulled into another world doesn’t mean I can use magic… I’m a purely physical type, so I can’t handle even basic magic at all.”
“Those who specialize in extreme physical training are called physical types.”
“What should I show you?”
Breaking a rock with my fist.
That was an easy task.
For my past self, at least.
Currently, it would probably be impossible.
“Sadly, I can’t do that right now.”
“When I returned, my powers were all sealed.”
That’s not an excuse.
I returned under the condition of having my powers sealed, you know.
The dimension magician said they wouldn’t open the portal unless my powers were sealed, so I didn’t have a choice.
The reason for the seal is one.
To prevent someone from rampaging in another world with the power gained in that world.
They say there have been cases like that.
Well, it doesn’t matter.
There’s no need to prove anything right now.
Since the egg I’m holding will naturally lead them to believe in the existence of monsters once it hatches.
*
Returning to the hideout while communicating with the assistant.
The spot engraved on the egg had fully turned green, but there was still no sign of hatching.
There’s no rush.
If I wait, it will eventually hatch.
In the meantime, I just need to keep communicating so the assistant doesn’t lose interest and leave.
“Hey.”
“I know I’m a bit late to ask, but who are you?”
“What’s your name?”
“Just curious.”
I thought it would be like that.
It seemed they had no intention of revealing who they were from the start.
“If you don’t want to say it, that’s fine. But you do know me, right?”
Just because someone has my number saved doesn’t mean they all know me. It could be a complete stranger. There are plenty of cases where the owner of a number changes.
“What’s my name?”
That question alone didn’t tell me much.
My name was written in the message.
“What’s my age?”
Since they could guess my age, it seemed they indeed knew me.
Who could this assistant be?
A schoolmate?
Someone met in society?
A guy or a girl?
I was curious about their identity, but didn’t pry further.
It would be troublesome if they felt pressured and ran away.
‘Forget about the identity. For now, let’s ask what support the assistant can give me.’
While I was pondering what question to ask next to keep the conversation going…
The assistant hurriedly typed in the chat.
What’s going on all of a sudden?
I tilted my head slightly in confusion.
“Uh? Other people can’t see the broadcast?”
I learned a new fact.
From the assistant’s chat, it seemed that unless someone responded to a support request, they wouldn’t be able to see me.
“So I told you earlier. This isn’t an ordinary broadcast.”
The assistant still seemed skeptical.
But now, they had no choice but to believe.
Right then, cracks began to form on the egg I was holding.
Crack-–crack-
Before long, the shell split apart,
pop!
[Sii!]
A baby spider pushed its head out from the broken shell.
