Chapter 67: She Won't Refuse
Sivis looked melancholic.
After upgrading to Monster Lord, there was no need to say that he would get another chance to draw a talent.
Even if it wasn't as powerful as Extraordinary Dark Power or Corpse Resurrection, it would still be a significant boost!
Now, the residents he had gathered in Minnet City could help him advance two levels, allowing him to draw talents twice.
The benefits of upgrading his territory were even more terrifying...
After upgrading to a Monster Settlement,
Sivis's system would unlock a batch of new buildings.
These included a pharmacy that could continuously produce various potions, an equipment shop that could produce magical gear, and a training ground that could turn ordinary units into extraordinary units.
Three buildings.
Each one more impressive than the last.
In Gandanyir, various special potions required specialized alchemists to create.
Magical equipment also needed skilled blacksmiths to forge.
Moreover, the materials for potions and equipment had to be collected.
But a Monster Settlement could directly produce Silver-Rank potions and equipment for free!
During peacetime, these items would cost a significant amount of gold to purchase, and during wartime, they would be virtually priceless.
The true advantage of a Monster Settlement isn't even in these resources.
It lies in the ability to mass-produce extraordinary units, specifically the training ground that can produce Silver-Rank units.
According to the game's rules, most beings with some talent can be transformed into Silver-Rank units by spending resources at the training ground, even though the transformed beings won't be able to make any further breakthroughs in strength, they are still genuine Silvers!
Sivis had already upgraded his territory in Minnet City, achieving the majority of the requirements for the lord to advance two levels.
To lose everything due to the Blood Plague would be incredibly difficult for him to accept!
Previously, Sivis's main pressure was the need to break through to the Silver Rank, otherwise, he would be in a dead end.
Once he managed to break through within the time limit and started looking to the future, he realized just how much trouble the Blood Clan would cause him.
Sivis had built up such a terrifying reputation in Minnet City, which he earned by running a factory for a year.
In any other city, he wouldn't be able to quickly gather a large number of residents.
After this Blood Plague, if he wanted to restore the number of residents and the progress of his territory to what he has now, it wouldn't take a full year, but it would certainly take several months, or even more than half a year!
In response to this, Sivis fell silent.
He felt a deep pain and frustration.
Sivis sighed slowly, "I hope the items that come out of the Blood Shackles can make up for my losses."
After much thought, he could only comfort himself — although he had suffered a significant loss, the constant trouble stirred up by the Blood Clan was also aimed at taking the Blood Shackles from him. Sooner or later, Sivis would have to face them.
The residents would undoubtedly suffer heavy casualties, but once Sivis defeated the Blood Clan and opened the Blood Shackles...
If there really was a Blood Clan Relic inside, the current losses would be acceptable!
A Relic brought about an extremely powerful boost!
But...
"If the Blood Clan had attacked me earlier, I might have been able to save some of my residents."
A thought couldn't help but flash through Sivis's mind.
In just a few days, he would be able to advance to Silver Rank.
He was currently at Bronze 10, and he could already face the Blood Clan. With the advantage of his Holy Sword technique, he could slay it.
Although, at the Bronze level, he could also be killed in one hit by the Blood Clan.
But Sivis still had Soul Points, which he could use to exchange for a defensive item that could withstand an attack from a Silver-Rank entity.
In a situation where both sides could instantly kill each other, if one had a means to survive, the outcome would be undeniable!
If the Blood Clan had indeed attacked earlier, the outbreak of the Blood Plague in Minnet City might not have been as severe. After the Blood Clan was slain, the mindless Blood Servants, without their leader, would no longer remain hidden.
The monsters would have emerged earlier, and their total number would have been significantly reduced.
After Sivis slayed the Blood Clan, he would be able to obtain a Silver-Rank Extraordinary Soul, which would allow him to unlock the exclusive skill "Summon Guardian" — this skill could summon Goblins and Stone Demons from his territory and enhance them to Silver Rank 1!
That's nearly a hundred Silver-Rank units!
Facing a significantly reduced number of Blood Servants, Sivis might still struggle to handle the situation, but he could at least save a hundred or two of his residents and evacuate them, which would help mitigate some of the losses...
Sivis was a bit conflicted: "Following this logic, the earlier the Blood Clan attacks, the better."
"But facing a Silver-Rank powerhouse is still risky. It would be safer to wait a few days until I break through, and then the Blood Clan can make its move."
"Ah, forget it. I'll just take it one step at a time. I can't control when the Blood Clan decides to strike." He pondered, looking into the distance.
Thinking about the Extraordinary Soul, Sivis's mood improved slightly.
Even though the trouble caused by the Blood Clan would bring various negative consequences, there was one point: they were vulnerable to Holy Swordsmanship! This made them the easiest way for Sivis to obtain Extraordinary Souls.
"Almost forgot, this time I can unlock an exclusive skill at the very least."
"It's still a decent gain."
Sivis consoled himself.
He looked into the distance —
Vikalina was moving among the workers. Everyone who saw her bowed deeply in great respect. The female knight patiently explained to them time and time again that she was not of noble birth and didn't need to be treated with such deference.
This scene brought a smile to Sivis's lips.
Despite his worries, the charming female protagonist of Gandanyir quickly lifted his spirits.
But...
His smile soon faded, as a commotion broke out among the workers, and countless eyes turned toward Vikalina.
The crowd rapidly parted.
A group of knights, clad in armor, appeared, their presence and aura distinctly different from ordinary people.
Vikalina's smile faded, and the surrounding commoners quickly fell to their knees, like dominos being knocked over.
Everyone bowed their heads.
The members of the Knight Order, however, kept their heads high as they approached the female knight.
"What is it?" Vikalina asked coldly.
The members of the Knight Order silently looked at the young man with golden hair standing at the front — Sylar.
He forced a smile.
"Vikalina, we were wrong about what happened earlier."
"We offer you our sincerest apologies."
"We should have been more proactive in carrying out your orders to eliminate those evil-doers."
"I am truly sorry for the rude things I said to you earlier, and I hope you can forgive me."
As Sylar spoke.
Both the members of the Knight Order and Vikalina were taken aback.
When had the previously arrogant and domineering Sylar become so humble?
But the young man with golden hair felt an inner peace — for the greater cause of the Blood Clan, what did losing his dignity matter?
With a puzzled look, Vikalina watched as Sylar continued: "Vikalina, we need you."
"You've been patrolling this district for several days and have dealt with many evil-doers, haven't you?"
"On our side... the priests from the church refuse to act, and we don't have any Silver-Rank fighters, so the pressure is too much."
"Could you come and patrol our area for a while?"
His current humble and pleading demeanor was a stark contrast to the arrogant and haughty attitude of the Knight Order members from before.
Sylar didn't mention the Blood Plague to the commoners, using "evil-doers" instead to avoid causing panic.
He still had to maintain his role as a Knight Order member and couldn't break character.
The other members of the Knight Order, seeing this, were momentarily stunned but felt a flash of admiration — they had always thought Sylar was a proud and arrogant young man, but he could humbly put aside his pride in a time of need.
In their eyes, this was what it meant to be "pragmatic"!
In a life-or-death situation, who would still care about face?
First, they needed to appease this Silver-Rank female knight and save their lives.
And...
Sylar, with his best family background and the most protective gear, was the least afraid of this blood plague. He was doing this entirely for us!
"We were right not to underestimate Sylar. Serving him and following his lead has indeed been the right choice. He truly is a good brother to us."
"He's willing to eat humble pie just to bring Vikalina back!"
Many members of the Knight Order felt this way.
They were extremely moved!
Not just them, even the surrounding crowd of kneeling civilians thought this knight named Sylar had a good attitude.
His request seemed reasonable enough.
But it made these civilians uneasy...
Did it mean the female knight was going to leave them?
At a distance from the Knight Order members, many people were whispering, "Does this mean the knight who has been silently protecting us is going to leave?"
"What are we going to do?"
"But... it does seem like they have a point. Things in the city are indeed very strange right now."
"Then what about us? The knight lord seems very powerful. If he leaves, will we be safe?"
Everyone looked anxious.
Although the civilians didn't know about the blood plague outbreak, they had a vague sense that something unusual was happening in the city, making it no longer safe.
But with the female knight Vikalina protecting them, the Daister family's compound had remained safe.
If the female knight left, how would their safety be maintained?
No one even considered the possibility that Vikalina might not leave. The Knight Order member's plea was sincere and reasonable. Vikalina, the female knight who often appeared near Lord Sivis's territory, seemed like a kind-hearted person.
There was no reason for her to refuse.
The many members of the Knight Order looked calm.
Before they came, they were worried—
That Sylar's personality might clash with Vikalina's.
He had always looked down on the "future Saint Flame Spear" from a commoner background.
But with Sylar being so humble, Vikalina had no reason to reject their request for help.
Today, things would be accomplished!
The lives of the Knight Order members and the residents of other districts mattered too!
Vikalina couldn't possibly protect only the people of the Daister family.
The female knight was indeed... standing there speechless and stunned.
Seeing this, Sivis wore an expression of slight helplessness.
