Chapter 40
Late that night, at twelve o’clock.
Inside the interrogation room.
The female zergs on duty sat around a small table, holding a worn-out deck of cards in their hands, scattered chips on the table, a few plastic cups with some clear liquid left, and a plate of peanuts half-eaten.
Female zergs could stay up late for a long time, but that didn’t mean they had no feelings at all. To stay alert, they still had to do something to stimulate their tired and numb spirits.
Although there was that female zerg there today, they didn’t need to be vigilant at all.
But they still had to maintain appearances.
The so-called “that female zerg” was actually their colleague, but no female zerg was willing to get close to him.

Leaning against the railing, innocently looking, was Lu Xi.

So everyone’s gaze focused on the sleeve of that zerg. The zerg was speechless, “You guys believe him too?”

“Turn his sleeve over for me!!”
“Damn!! You really hid them, huh?!”
After a noisy commotion, it took a while for things to settle down, and everyone resumed playing cards around the table, grumbling. Someone casually picked up a pack of peanuts and threw it to Lu Xi, “Eat.”
Lu Xi took it, found a clean spot, and sat down to open it.
The indoor lighting was dim, the lamp probably hadn’t been changed in years, like a candlelight, making everything blurry.
Creating a perfect environment for cheating.
There was a window up high, also welded shut with iron bars, but tonight there was a big moon, and the moonlight seemed brighter.
Lu Xi looked at the moonlight separated by the iron bars, unconsciously twirling the ring on his index finger.

When he opened the door, the other female zergs even stopped playing cards, staring blankly at him. Lu Xi looked at their expressions and raised his eyebrows inquisitively.

“You’re a bit later than usual today.”

The person didn’t speak, just silently took a step forward, and the light finally illuminated his face, but disappointingly, nothing could be seen.
His face was covered in dense bandages, only revealing a pair of dark, obscure eyes, even harder to see in the already blurry light.
As he walked, the wind coat fluttered, revealing the long whip tied around his waist, flashing with a dark sheen, and the heavy smell of blood gradually filled the room.
The female zergs, already sensitive to their senses, couldn’t help but frown at this.
He stood before the railing.
Lu Xi sat on the ground, facing him across the railing, thinking that this was probably the pervert mentioned by Officer Huang.

Xia Baiyuan’s eyes curved slightly. “Hmm.”
Lu Xi looked at him incredulously. “How did you manage to do this?”
Xia Baiyuan pointed in a certain direction. “When I infiltrated, he had just taken out a prisoner. I thought he was suitable, so I knocked him out and came in.”
He swung the whip forcefully, making a loud whistling sound. “Let out a scream.”
Lu Xi complied and let out a miserable scream to avoid arousing suspicion from the female zergs outside.
Xia Baiyuan took off his coat, revealing why he was only wearing it. The inside was filled with all sorts of peculiar objects.
Xia Baiyuan picked up a saw-like object and looked up at the railing on the window. “I’m here to rescue you.”
