Chapter 1810: Tragic
This time, all the airborne forces were at least mid-level leaders, with no cannon fodder, and even some formed the ace army of the Warcraft.
To the grand magician, this monster without a defensive barrier should be easier to deal with than a warship, although it was more ferocious and gigantic.
But they didn't know that saying the Void King Insect's defense is insufficient means it's weak against peak powers. After all, it's a creature with rank, but its vitality is terrifyingly strong. Even a demigod would have to pay a hefty price to destroy it.
Moreover, the Void King Insect possesses its defensive mechanisms, which are even more aggressive.
The Void King Insect rapidly approached the city walls, and the Ogre Air Force quickly took off to intercept it.
This battle in the sky revolving around the Air Fortress once again became crucial.
In the minds of the players and the grand magicians, this was the battle truly concerning victory.
The better the King Insect performed, the greater their hope, and vice versa.
All around the Void King Insect in the sky appeared a dense array of blue spots resembling void cracks.
The huge spots revealed dragonflies, hunters; they were the King Insect's permanent units responsible for cooperative attacks and defense.
The smaller cracks revealed palm-sized, pale blue crystal-like beetles, summoned dimensional insects by the Void King itself.
With the King Insect's rank, it can generally summon silver elite dimensional insects, with a ten percent chance for leader-level, one percent for mid-level leader, and one in a thousand for high-level leader.
But the number of dimensional summons is horrendous; a glance shows countless dimensional insects appearing alongside sonic booms, their buzzing sound causing scalp tingling.
"For the god of the raven, for Odessa." The leading deputy commander of the Ogre Air Force, a camp-level leader, with him at the forefront were the ace air force riding two-headed Chimaeras, followed by the elite air force.
Countless hunters went into stealth, while the dragonflies roared out, led by the blue dragon.
Long-range strikes began before both sides even engaged. Dragonfly long-range attacks include spike spray and strong acid bombs; mid-range attacks involve strong acid breath; close-range of course involves their sharp teeth and claws.
Chimaeras are all two-headed; long-range they use frost bombs and magic orbs, mid-range frost breath and lightning chain, close-range is slightly weaker.
Spikes and magic orbs filled the sky in vibrant brilliance, some front-line air forces getting hit and plummeting before engagement.
The Ogre deputy commander wielded a huge shield, and his Chimaera finally dashed into the dragonfly swarm. Although his Chimaera bore wounds, they were non-fatal.
"Kill!"
The shield in the deputy commander's hand transformed into a shield-axe, wildly wielded.
With the frantic dance of the shield-axe, dragonflies were severed and fell. Many had already perished behind him, but in a few minutes, they cut through the dragonfly lines.
It wasn't that dragonflies were much inferior to Chimaeras, just that they couldn't bear weight. Dragonflies were essentially assassin-type flying stars, unsuitable for carrying heavy loads or Knights.
"Hahaha, is this all their air force has? Nothing much." The deputy commander laughed heartily, "Men, kill them for me, shoot down the monsters from a distance, destroy them at close range."
Roar!
Only the ace forces charged in, the rest were overwhelmed, slaughtered by dragonflies.
"Damn it!"
The deputy commander's expression changed, his shield-axe swung mightily as a hunter emerged from the void.
However, the hunter with only half its body left cut long gashes on him with its sickle-like forelimbs.
Bang bang bang...
More hunters appeared, and although the deputy commander's shield-axe killed many, wounds covered him.
His Chimaera's screams were tragic, despite being a camp-level leader, blood was flowing from everywhere, especially vulnerable areas like the abdomen, and the wounds were constantly corroded, causing unending pain.
"Damn ghost things."
Stealthy creatures are always hard to guard against.
He could cope temporarily, but his ace air force was falling one by one, even though the cost was fair in ratio, Li Yao saw it as a huge gain. The Ogre ace air force wasn't just one, considering the Chimaera it was two, and they were indeed formidable.
But without targets, they couldn't find the hunters, who would strike at the right distance and time, even dying to heavily wound their foes.
After ten minutes, most of the Ogre's ace army had fallen, only a few persisted.
Their elite legions were continuously massacred by the dragonflies.
"No regrets in death, fight!"
"No regrets in death, fight!"
The long-range ace forces, when free, would cast spells or shoot at the distant Void King Insect.
However, the attacks were ignored, as the King Insect was covered by dimensional insects, unaffected by these strikes.
Arrows fell, but the dimensional insects formed small shields like scales, blocking both physical and magical attacks.
Eventually, with continuous blows, the deputy commander's mount couldn't bear the pain and fell, its body wounded beyond recognition.
Covered in wounds, drenched as if by the hunters' green blood, the Tribe's blood was corrosive. Without wounds, it was fine; with them, it worsened, causing not just pain.
"Kill!"
The deputy commander was almost frenzied, his longtime companion fallen. With no time for grief, as the Chimaera was dying, it threw him toward the Void King Insect, his power surging for a leap.
His shield-axe was swinging madly, continuously slaughtering hunters in his path.
But as he neared fifty yards from the Void King Insect, hundreds of dimensional insects that had been clinging to it launched like artillery shells.
They spread their shimmering wings, radiating extreme brilliance, and their energy became violent.
Bang bang bang bang bang bang...
The impact force of the dimensional insects was secondary, but too fast, like bullets.
Even normally the deputy commander struggled to dodge, let alone when leaping in that direction; hundreds of insects, evading a few was possible, but not many.
Dimensional insects impacting the deputy commander exploded, like firecrackers, enveloping him in dense blue bursts of light.
The explosion occurred quickly and faded as fast.
Everyone saw an ogre resembling charred coal fall within ten yards of the Void King Insect.
Boom!
Until hitting the ground, the deputy commander made no further movement...
