Chapter 1805: Another Summoning
The real confrontation between the two sides has begun.
The Ogre Sorcerer made the first move, setting up a Barrier in an attempt to resist the main army, but ultimately failed.
Now that the Barrier has been broken, Li Yao made his move, instructing two allied guilds to go all out against the opponent's elite Legion.
Both guilds have some top-tier Legions, even though they might be the less impressive kind, but a top-tier Legion is still formidable, and their combat power is unmatched by elite Legions.
With the full force of the two guilds, the air force on both sides found itself evenly matched, yet the players managed to seize a slight advantage. However, these air forces were far from the full strength of the Ogre Air Force.
On the siege front, although gaining control of the walls remained difficult, at least the Ogres felt tremendous pressure rather than the previous effortless defense against the attacks.
Thus, the battle quickly turned white-hot. From somewhere, warships appeared slowly approaching the walls.
"If you could make a slight concession, more troops would advance, putting greater pressure on the Ogres. Brother, you are still too stubborn," Sky and Sea sighed as he looked at the walls they hadn't captured throughout the day, clearly referring to Li Yao's tough attitude.
Li Yao shook his head slightly, while Fleeting Blossoms laughed and said, "You're the one who loves to act the good guy. Surely, someone contacted you to plead with Prairie Fire."
Sky and Sea didn't feel embarrassed by being found out, nodding as he said, "A friend told me they acted foolishly. They mentioned that if Prairie Fire could raise the reward to its original level, they'd continue deploying troops and persuade a group to send their most prized Legion."
Li Yao did not change his aim, still standing with hands behind his back, looking at the battlefield like a sculpture, and said calmly, "It's not that I don't respect you, but this is a matter of principle. How can I change orders as a military commander?"
"Cough, cough. It's not that serious," Sky and Sea smiled wryly.
Fleeting Blossoms interjected, "I think Prairie Fire is right not to compromise with them."
Li Yao nodded slightly, "Talking about all this seems pretentious. Let's put it bluntly; the numbers far exceeded my expectations. In my view, if a third of these players assist me, I can take the Main City. So many have come, and yet they're not satisfied. Perfect timing. Even if numbers fall short, I won't compromise. These people have no limits; if you give an inch, they'll demand something even more shameless. These people can't be indulged. Relay my orders, in one hour, if anyone doesn't accept the military merit mission, their reward will be reduced by another ten percent."
Sky and Sea smiled wryly, he had done his best. Frankly, they were bound to the chariot, without a voice. Li Yao's listening calmly was already respectful enough. He had done all he could. Li Yao didn't relent; Sky and Sea certainly couldn't threaten him either.
Not to mention their alliance with Starfire, just Li Yao's personality alone, those guilds probably also estimated Li Yao would kick them out.
The more he looked at Li Yao, the less he understood. Li Yao had meticulously planned the Main City offensive this time, with countless calculations, surely with many backup plans and absolute power, he naturally wouldn't fear their threats.
Put simply, it's a matter of supply and demand imbalance: without the local butcher, they'll still have pork. It's laughable.
Woo woo woo!
With the horn sounding, Queen First approached the city, and along with the Stone throwers and Plague Cannons roaring, green mist rose from the Ogre Main City.
In the mist, even the robust physique of the Ogres couldn't withstand the Rapid Plague, falling quickly. This plague was a new mutated variant, the Rapid Plague.
Plainly speaking, it's an accelerated version, where the plague can explode to powerful force in a short time but sacrifices its corrosion and long-lasting properties.
This is precisely what Li Yao desired; he did not wish his Main City to become a city of plague.
Surely enough, the Ogres proved resilient. Even when slain by the plague, it took some time before they turned into mindless shells.
Chaos finally broke out within the city, amidst the shock and screams of the Ogres.
In the sky, the Ogres didn't fail to send troops to intercept, but the warship shields were too formidable; without air force escort, they couldn't break them, not to mention the flying dragons Li Yao deployed, the Ogres were powerless to stop the two warships.
Meanwhile, the Magic Crystal Cannon of Drying Sun roared, relentlessly bombarding the walls, with runes flashing. But as the bombardment continued, the runes began to dim and fade slowly.
Seeing this scene, the Ogre leaders' eyes turned red.
The Air Force Commander roared and smashed his wine glass to pieces: "Sorcerer, I request to fight. I want to bring down that stinking garbage disperser."
The Sorcerer's complexion was grim, "Stand down. Do you want to die like that fool? The Barrier impenetrable by Demigod, you think you can break it?"
"But!" The Air Force Commander remained furious.
From the battle's start to now, the Ogres always held the upper hand, but now they were helpless against two warships, which was hard for him to accept.
The Sorcerer's eyes gleamed coldly, "Fall back, I have my plans. Though we cannot destroy the two warships, we can limit them."
The crowd cheered, in their view, only the warships were considerable opponents, everything else wasn't worth mentioning. As long as the warships were limited, victory was undoubtedly theirs.
The Sorcerer took out a rough, ancient raven statue, kneeled reverently, and held the statue high: "Oh, my divine spirit, the mighty Void Sovereign, Sky Lord, Supreme Raven God, please show us your power."
The rough statue suddenly shattered, the Void seemed to break, and endless blue light shone over the sky like a blue sun after sunset.
As the strong light dissipated, a massive raven shadow appeared in the sky, looking oddly ordinary, like a common spirit.
"Why do you disturb my slumber?"
The raven in the sky spoke, its eyes indifferent. Without a reasonable explanation, it seemed hard to be accountable.
"Great Supreme God, enemies poison your most devout followers with their sky power. We are powerless, please Supreme God intervene to restrict them," the Sorcerer quickly exclaimed.
The raven glanced over; countless birds in the sky dispersed a sliver of consciousness into the body of the Air Force Commander. All the birds ceased fighting, circling around the Raven God, resembling the worship of an unparalleled monarch.
Only the flying dragons weren't affected, keeping a watchful eye on the massive raven shadow.
"I understand your intent. The statue's imbued power is limited, I can't destroy the warships, but controlling one is feasible."
With that, the Raven God's eyes emitted a blue light, merging into a purple beam directly onto the Queen First…
