Chapter 167.5: The Elf Enters the Dream
"Woo-woo-woo—"
Zachary's eyes bulged out as he opened his mouth wide but couldn't form a complete sentence.
Just kill him! He would rather they kill him than be made a laughingstock by a group of slaves!
What residents of the island? How could he not know the people he had brought here himself?
Once he was a slave trader who held their lives in his hands, but now he had become a prisoner being gawked at in jail. How could a prestigious Mystical Smith be humiliated like this? He would rather die than submit to her will!
"Mr. Bunian, you're not thinking of killing yourself, are you?"
Noticing his resolute expression, Luo Wei calmly said to the necromancer behind him, "Patrick, if Mr. Bunian wants to seek death, you don't need to stop him."
"Once he's dead and becomes an undead, it would be perfectly natural for me to enslave him."
"Keeping him alive means we have to feed him, what a hassle."
In just a few short sentences, Zachary's gaze towards Luo Wei changed from hatred to terror.
She wasn't human at all - she was a demon!
"Focus on your rehabilitation," Luo Wei gave Zachary a magnanimous smile, "Demon Island is a free city-state, we don't have prisoners or slaves here. Mr. Bunian, I look forward to the day of your release."
"Oh, did I forget to tell you how many years you'll be imprisoned?"
"You see, since you haven't confessed to your crimes yet, I can't sentence you properly, so I'll have to keep you locked up for now."
"The sooner you confess, the sooner you'll be released!"
Under Zachary's furious gaze, Luo Wei waved at him and flew into the sky with her wings.
"Woo-woo-woo..."
If she wanted him to confess his crimes, she should at least remove the silence spell!
Damn black magic - if his magical power wasn't depleted, he could break free in a minute!
Luo Wei returned to the academy castle through the teleportation array. It was just after nightfall, and the dormitory supervisor hadn't started bed checks yet, so her credit points were safe.
The magic runes carved on the bed frame could still be used next time. She put the bedding back and changed to new sheets and covers.
In the dim light, she lit an oil lamp and walked over to pull open the tightly drawn curtains.
When she opened the window, a gust of cold wind rushed in.
The smell of horse manure had mostly dissipated, and the sewage on the lawn had all flowed into the artificial lake nearby.
The willow trees by the lake swayed their slender branches, now home to several magpies. They didn't like to migrate and would start building nests with twigs around December each year.
Luo Wei watched for a while before gently closing the window.
The presence of magpies was an auspicious sign.

After washing up, she curled up in bed and took out her well-polished turtle shell to do a divination for herself.
Great fortune, smooth sailing, and victory in all endeavors.
The divination gave the new semester a good start - at least she wouldn't have to race against death every day anymore.
Putting down the turtle shell, Luo Wei lay down in the soft wool blanket and closed her eyes.
For the time being, she had nothing to worry about except money.
Gold mines, gold mines - when would she be able to go to the Misty Plains to mine for gold?
As drowsiness overtook her, Luo Wei yawned and fell into a deep sleep.
It had been a while since she'd had a dream. Perhaps because she had been lost in thought before falling asleep tonight, she entered another bizarre dreamscape.
The golden light was almost blinding. Luo Wei shielded her eyes with her hand and squinted to see that before her was the gold mine she had been yearning for.
Just as she had imagined countless times, high-purity gold sand was exposed on the surface, with nuggets of natural gold scattered across the hillside. The largest nugget was as big as an ostrich egg!
Luo Wei walked back and forth on the gold-rich hill, picking up pieces and dropping others, her excitement beyond words.
After surveying the gold mine, she felt a sense of loss.
Too bad this was just a dream - if only it were real.
With a "clang", a gold nugget fell to the ground.
Luo Wei froze, looking down at her hand where she still firmly held the nugget she had picked up earlier. So that sound just now was...
She turned around and felt a cool breath brush past the top of her head as she found herself facing a broad black chest.
The distance was so close that her nose nearly touched their skin, and she could hear their strong heartbeat.
Luo Wei's eyes widened slightly - perhaps this wasn't a dream after all?
She held her breath, standing stiffly in place.
Black skin - she had only seen two people with skin this dark.
One was Theodore, the other was the Dark Elf.
But Theodore wasn't this tall, standing only around 5'7", half a head taller than her.
The body before her was strong and muscular, every inch of skin radiating mature energy. Her eyes were level with his chest, and she estimated his height to be over 6'3".
With that height, this had to be the Dark Elf who excelled at archery, jumping, and running.
Luo Wei gripped the gold nugget in her hand tightly, but its rounded edges didn't cause her any pain. She still couldn't tell if this was reality or a dream.
If this was reality, would the Dark Elf discover her?
She remained motionless, holding her breath, waiting to see how the Dark Elf would react.
They stood face to face, less than four inches apart. The wind passed between them, tangling their long white and soft black hair together, but neither spoke.
Luo Wei's face reddened from holding her breath until she finally had to take a breath.
"Who's there?"
The Dark Elf finally moved, reaching forward only to grasp at empty air, his hand with its bound bracers suspended stiffly in mid-air.
Luo Wei watched as his hand passed right through her body like it was moving through air - the sight was truly eerie.
However, this proved that the Dark Elf couldn't see her.
Not only could he not see her, but he couldn't touch her either. They seemed to exist on different frequencies, perhaps because her physical body wasn't actually present.
Luo Wei stepped back several paces, and his hand finally withdrew from her left shoulder.
The Dark Elf still held his hand up, confusion evident on his face.
He had clearly sensed something's presence just now, but it had vanished.
Was it just his imagination?
After a long moment, the Dark Elf lowered his hand, scanning the surroundings before taking a woven basket with rope straps from his back.
Luo Wei stood about sixteen feet away, quietly watching his movements.
The Dark Elf set the basket on the ground and skillfully began collecting the gold nuggets from the hillside, tossing them one by one into the basket.
After gathering the nuggets, he used an iron shovel to fill the basket with fine gold sand.
Only when the basket was full did he hoist it onto his back - nearly 700 pounds of gold ore - and head down the mountain.
Luo Wei followed behind him, and despite being unburdened, she had to jog to keep up with the heavily laden Dark Elf's pace.
The Dark Elf carried the gold ore into a small town by the river, where traditional wooden houses with suspended gables and single-eave gable-and-hip roofs stood in neat rows through the empty streets.
If she hadn't known this was Star of Galan, she would have thought she was touring a historical Chinese cultural town.
How did the Dark Elf know these architectural styles?
The scene before her was ninety percent identical to the wooden house designs she had drawn for Demon Island - or rather, it seemed to have been planned and built according to her designs.
When she had been drawing those plans before, she had been so tired that she kept drawing even in her dreams. Could the Dark Elf see into her dreams?
