Chapter 39: Meeting the Wolf Blood King Camp Steward (3)
"Sir, the Butterfly Species who caused trouble yesterday has been brought here." The young man who found Tilan stepped forward and reported with folded fists.
"Oh, they've already come, have they?" The fat man in the center, adorned with various jewelry, clapped his hands, signaling the dancing girls to stop and move the wooden platform aside.
"Yesterday's events, I assume many have heard about them." Gus said as he picked a clean bunch of grapes from the glass plate in front of him.
"I detest those who disregard the rules." He waved his hand, and someone brought a bag, then threw its contents out, which rolled a few times on the ground before stopping.
Tilan clearly saw it was the slave trader who sold her the Butterfly Species yesterday, unexpectedly killed, and decapitated by Gus's men today.
No wonder they say the Wolf Blood Species is barbaric and bloody. The girl turned her gaze away, no longer looking at the bloodied head.
"Sir Gus is indeed fair and strict." Others chimed in with compliments.
"With your assistance, Her Majesty, the Wolf Blood King Camp will be eternally strong."
...
Listening to the praise of the others, although Gus did not express himself explicitly, his demeanor showed he enjoyed it greatly, and he was in a very good mood.
"I didn't kill him because he angered me, but because he secretly brought slaves of a special species into the city, without reporting to me, ultimately causing the Butterfly Species disturbance." He reiterated his punishment was not personal but an embodiment of justice.
Then he gestured for someone to come over.
"Yes, you there, wake up that Butterfly Species, see if he's dead. These guys are pretty cunning and deceitful, never be careless."
"Yes." A guard carefully approached, shook the still unconscious Butterfly Species, and even slapped him a few times.
The Butterfly Species, still asleep and unconscious, gradually awakened, looking somewhat bewildered at the surroundings. He then felt his body, finding everything normal and quite astonishing.
"What's your name, which settlement are you from, how many people did you bring over yesterday, how did you manage to chase into the King Camp?" The Wolf Blood Species assistant beside Gus fired off a series of questions.
Unfortunately, the freshly awakened Butterfly Species paid no heed, seeing his status was fine, he immediately opened his wings, ready to escape.
"Catch him!" The guards within the tent couldn't let him escape like that; it would be an embarrassment to the Wolf Blood Species, and Gus wouldn't forgive them afterward.
First, they directly threw a spear, piercing through the Butterfly Species who was flapping his wings to fly, then threw iron chains to entangle him, after which several strong Wolf Blood Species advanced, their blood surging, muscles bulging, tightly holding and securing the Butterfly Species, then others used chains to bind him tightly.
After everything settled again, it was already half an hour later, the Butterfly Species was bound and pressed on the ground, escorted before everyone.
"Speak now, about those previous questions." The assistant beside Gus repeated again.
Alas, the Butterfly Species seemed to not understand, completely indifferent, sitting motionless on the ground.
"Chop off one of his fingers." Gus spat out a grape seed, flicked it, landing on the kneeling Butterfly Species.
"Yes."
A cold flash of the knife, a bloody finger flew, landing in the dirt beside, the Butterfly Species on the ground emitted a painful wail.
Tilan found the scene unbearable, so she turned away.
Then more questioning followed, but still no answer from the Butterfly Species, thus one by one the fingers flew, falling into the dirty gray soil.
Seeing all fingers chopped off, yet the other side remained silent, Gus's assistant was losing face, especially given many other settlements' guests and representatives were present here.
"Cut off one of his arms next, feed it to the wild dogs outside." Gus, while grooming his nails, waved his hand and ordered.
"Yes, Sir." The assistant wiped his sweat and instructed the tent guards to proceed.
"Wait a minute." At this point, Tilan could no longer restrain herself, stepping out.
Seeing the figure which hadn't spoken from the corner coming out, many were quite surprised, for they didn't recognize this girl nor remember when she arrived.
"Who are you?" Gus's assistant was full of doubt, but then the young man leading Tilan explained quietly by his ear, only then did he realize who Tilan was.
"So it was you who bought him yesterday, I thought it was some fool." The assistant sneered and again waved his hand, instructing the tent guards to act.
What a joke, when Sir Gus ordered, you simply say wait and it waits, who do you think you are? If not for many guests today, he would have certainly said so.
This time, knowing she had to display something to retain the right to speak, Tilan pulled down her hood, revealing a face of breathtaking beauty, with eyebrows showing youthful charm and allure, opulence intermixed with the tranquility of maturity, especially those light blue and clear eyes, as if the most precious treasures in the world.
When she fully revealed her face and hair, the tent fell into a brief silence, the guards who had half-drawn their swords now sheathed them back.
It seems, this lucky fellow doesn't have to die today.
