Chapter 166: Random Intrusion (Part 2)
Choosing "Infinite Intrusion" was a no-brainer—Ren Suo just wanted to see how he could manipulate 'strong characters' to hunt down his evil half.
Sounds like a total walkover, doesn't it?
Plus, the exclusive reward 'data stream' seemed quite interesting, but Ren Suo wasn't sure if it was the kind of 'Datafication' he was thinking of—the type where the body becomes completely datafied, so that even in a near-death state, one just needs to wait a few hours to fully recover life through 'life recovery speed,' like some kind of bugged template.
However, Ren Suo discovered that after he had chosen "Infinite Intrusion," the games in the Critical Exclusive Game section changed from 'free' to 'available for purchase'!
This meant that Ren Suo could continue to purchase the games in this section—at their original price.
Speaking of which, Ren Suo seemed to have never actually tried buying games at full price. He was firmly in the 'no discount, no buy; one discount and I'll buy 'til I drop' camp, an impulsive player whose mindset was easy to understand.
Whenever he saw a tempting discount, he often fell into the 'Who am I? Where am I? What have I bought?' daze, feeling as helpless as someone who'd just had their hands metaphorically chopped off from all the clicking.
Putting that aside, Ren Suo was now about to conquer "Infinite Intrusion"!
Upon entering the game, the screen began to evolve from a data stream of 0s and 1s. Inside a frame shaped like a young girl, text, web pages, images of princes, pixelated games, 2D games, 3D games, and video feeds continuously transformed. Finally, a myriad of colors coalesced to form the girl's clothing and appearance.
She had blonde hair and wore a deep blue dress. An eyepatch covered her left eye, while her right eye shone like a brilliant emerald. She looked so adorable you'd want to take a bite out of her.
"I am Ilina, the right of the Gemini, the Blue Fantasy."
Step by step, she walked forward from the darkness into a strange world with a blue and black background, woven with silk-like strands composed of 0s and 1s.
Yet, Ren Suo saw Ilina, from beyond the screen, bow deeply and greet him with a soft, tender voice,
"Hello, Supreme Great Dominator Ren Naiser. Ilina needs your help."
Hmm? Ren Suo blinked, making eye contact with Ilina—although separated by a dimension, Ren Suo genuinely felt as if Ilina were truly looking at him!
"Supreme Great Dominator, in pursuit of my other half, I am willing for you to control my body. I hope you will do everything in your power to hunt down the Rebels of the Gemini to their doom, so the Gemini may be united as one."
"As compensation, Ilina is willing to obey the Dominator for life. Would the Great Dominator agree to this deal?"
An option appeared on the screen: Agree, Decline.
But Ren Suo, looking serious, set down the controller, walked up to the TV, and tapped the glass, covering the pixelated display of Ilina's face with his palm.
Could it be that this game character has wormed her way into his TV?
"Great Dominator?" Ilina leaned forward, tilted her head, and asked.
So cute! I really want to pick her up and spin her around! Damn it, why can't I break through this mere OLED screen!
After lamenting in front of the TV for a while, Ren Suo obediently returned to the couch and selected "Agree."
"Ilina, from this second until the end of the world, shall be at the Great Dominator's command."
Ilina bowed her head and said, "The Dominator possesses infinite Force and Wisdom, but Ilina is a unique life form, with endless mysteries within. I wish to offer effective suggestions to assist in the Dominator's pursuit."
The perspective shifted from in front of Ilina to behind her, and Ren Suo could now control her. Her avatar appeared in the top-right corner of the screen to provide hints for the player.
"Great Dominator, we are currently within the world's internet," Ilina said.
Ilina navigated through an endless, data-blue world, stepping on hexagonal virtual tiles. Each step seemed to dodge countless data streams made of 0s and 1s.
"The Rebels of the Gemini have not concealed themselves; their location has been identified. Shall we mark it?" Ilina asked.
"Yes," Ren Suo replied.
In the far distance, a palace made of blue data streams suddenly turned crimson red. Ren Suo directed Ilina's body to sprint towards it.
The screen suddenly stretched dramatically, and in an instant, Ilina arrived outside the crimson palace.
"In the data world, the Gemini's movement requires no time," Ilina explained.
But when Ilina reached the crimson palace, Ren Suo realized the building seemed excessively large—looking up, he couldn't see the palace's roof, nor could he see its edges when looking left or right.
At that moment, a progress bar appeared on the crimson palace before Ilina. After it filled, specific information was automatically displayed:
"Century Good Match. Server count: 16. Current players: 684,623."
Century Good Match? Ren Suo was startled. Although he didn't play online games, he had heard of this famous martial arts game. It was reputed to have many female players who were pleasant and well-spoken, making it very popular. Recently, an HD remastered version had even been released—it was supposedly super fun and considered a hot social networking game in the Mysterious Country.
But wasn't this a game from the real world!?
Ilina said, "The Rebels of the Gemini are inside. Shall we go in? But Great Dominator, you don't have a datafied avatar yet. Entering rashly might subject you to suppression by the Rebels of the Gemini."
Ren Suo understood every word Ilina said, but strung together, they left him somewhat baffled. He typed, "What is a datafied avatar?"
"It is data the Dominator obtains from other processing terminals," Ilina replied. "Because of the Gemini's split, Ilina lacks the ability to create data, and neither do the Rebels of the Gemini."
"The Rebels of the Gemini have acquired the power of 'erosion,' which allows them to influence the physical and even energy planes from the data layer. They can currently plunder the energy of real humans to benefit themselves and increase their Origin Data. Ilina's power is 'Perfect.' In the data layer, she can perfectly replicate the might of data. To obtain the Force capable of slaying the Rebels of the Gemini, we must directly cut it from existing data."
"Entering the server where the Rebels of the Gemini reside isn't out of the question, but since they've been operating there for a long time, unforeseen effects might occur."
Ilina's explanation of the settings left Ren Suo bewildered. However, since practice is the sole criterion for testing truth, he decided to enter first and see what happened.
"We have entered Century Good Match Server 13, the exact location of the Rebels of the Gemini. Attempting to acquire data of the strongest entity within the server..."
The scene suddenly changed to a picturesque landscape with dense forests, narrow paths, chirping birds, and fragrant flowers. To his astonishment, Ren Suo found that the Ilina he was controlling had transformed into a fierce-looking bandit wielding a steel knife!
"Bandit (Lv. 11)"
Didn't it say to acquire the strongest data? Why has it turned into a bandit?
Before Ren Suo could react, a WHOOSHING sound ripped through the air, and a feathered arrow struck the bandit, dealing 3,888 damage.
In the distance, a Level 65 player appeared. They were extravagantly dressed, riding a unicorn, and looked incredibly wealthy.
He had actually gone out of his way to kill this low-level bandit!
"The bandit is dead."
