Middle Earth: High King of The Avari

Chapter 127: The Power Within

It had been a week since the day Aurion and Lossiriel confessed their love for each other. Though the warmth between them had softened Lossiriel's fears and anger, the frost still came back every night, creeping along the edges of her emotions. It hurt her, a constant reminder of the power she couldn't control. And yet, Aurion was always there beside her, comforting her through the pain, assuring her that she wasn't alone.

But tonight, something inside Aurion shifted. He was tired of seeing her struggle, tired of watching her be afraid of the very thing that made her unique. He sat beside her as the frost began to inch across the room, her breath cold as it curled from her lips.

"Lossiriel," he said, his voice gentle but firm, "Enough is enough. You don't need to fear this. You don't need to keep hiding from it."

Her gaze flickered to his, the pain in her eyes evident. "I can't control it. It hurts everyone around me."

Aurion shook his head, his hand finding hers. "That's not true. You can control it, Lossiriel. You're stronger than you think. I'll help you. Together, we can turn this curse into a gift, a power unmatched by anything else."

She hesitated, looking at him with uncertainty. But then, after a moment, she nodded. "Okay," she whispered, her voice barely above a breath. "I'll try."

With a soft smile, Aurion kissed her forehead, standing up to fetch a glass of water from the small table beside the bed. "Try freezing this water," he said, handing her the glass. "But don't freeze the glass itself."

Lossiriel looked at him, her brow furrowing as she took the glass from his hand. Slowly, she focused, her fingers trembling as she tried to summon the cold. At first, nothing happened. The water sat still, undisturbed. But Aurion didn't give up on her. He encouraged her, watching her closely.

"Focus, Lossiriel," he whispered. "Don't be afraid of the cold. You control it, not the other way around."

The hours passed like that, with Aurion by her side, offering calm words of encouragement. Slowly, a faint mist began to form around the water, and then the water itself began to freeze, the edges hardening while the glass remained untouched. The frost danced along the surface, delicate yet strong.

Lossiriel gasped, eyes wide in awe. "I did it," she whispered, her voice filled with disbelief.

A warm smile spread across Aurion's face, and he kissed her gently, his lips a promise of support and love. "You did it," he murmured, "You've taken the first step."

They rested together that night, the weight of the world seemingly lifted from their shoulders. As they lay in bed, Lossiriel nestled against Aurion, her head resting on his chest, they spoke of their future.

"What do you see for us?" she asked softly, her fingers tracing patterns on his skin.

"I see us growing stronger together," Aurion said, his voice filled with conviction. "With your power, we can shape the world around us. We can make a future that's ours, not defined by the past or by anyone else."

Lossiriel smiled, closing her eyes. "I like the sound of that."

They were silent for a while, simply holding each other, the promise of tomorrow heavy in the air. Eventually, the exhaustion of the day caught up with them, and they drifted off to sleep, wrapped in each other's warmth, knowing that whatever challenges lay ahead, they would face them together.
