Chapter 7: 7
[Twitter]
@RATGOD:
Hehehe, guess who turned up at the U.A support course!
@RockHard:
Who? Was it All Might?!
@RATGOD:
@RockHard no, it was not All Might. It's someone who I've wanted to talk to for a while since Twitter and Cosmic Exchange appeared though.
@MightFan_Z:
@RATGOD no way! @CryptoGod is going to U.A?! Awesome! I wonder what quirk he has, is it super intelligence? It must be to be able to create so much complicated software so easily.
@RATGOD:
@MightFan_Z ah, no. I don't think so, however I do believe that he has some type of construction quirk, from what I've discovered about him.
@RockHard:
Can't wait to see the hero gear this dude will make. I heard that the economy has shot through the roof since Cosmic Exchange was released. Even though Yen was listed as a stable coin, it has gone up by 2,000% and is now equal to £0.11
@RATGOD:
You are correct, the exchange and CryptoGod's intelligence has boosted how much a single is worth by a substantial amount. I look forward to seeing what he creates next.
The Exam Room (Outer POV)
In the observation room Aizawa turns to Nezu, who has just gotten off of Twitter.
"What are you doing? The kids are taking their exam right now, we should be paying attention to them."
"Ah, but I was just posting on the social platform created by one of our future students, bragging about how they've shown up today for the support course."
"Oh? Which one?"
"The one over their, leading his team to create something that will be no doubt phenomenal."
Nezu points towards Zack's team, showing his leadership skills as he puts everyone's skills to good use. Telling them where to meld, join and giving an image of a blueprint for the task at hand.
"Although he is indeed fascinating, it's unusual for you to be so interested in a applicant like this. Almost like you already have a personal stake in his enrolment."
Aizawa and Nezu look over at Power Loader, impressed by his perception as he just looks out of the window, quietly observing the children's progress.
"We all have an invested interest."
Aizawa raises an eyebrow, wondering what he means by that.
"The HPSC has made a case to the authorities to once again cut our funding, stating that we don't need such a high budget to keep the many facilities running and the staff don't need such high wages when they are training future heroes instead of fighting themselves.
They are trying to restrict us again."
Nezu sighs sadly, not understanding why they are taking such actions.
A lot of the budget goes towards student safety and having everything the students need to become better heroes.
"Human greed and corruption shows it's ugly head once again, putting their own wealth before the people's safety."
A sharp glint shows in his eyes, as he scowls just thinking of the pompous fools over at the commission.
Aizawa shuffles away a couple of feet, unnerved by the principle who is practically growling in anger.
"So you think Zack could help with the funding?" Power Loader asks, trying to distract Nezu from going to his unhappy place.
"Yes," Nezu says, suddenly gaining back his cheerful attitude.
"With his mind for business, along with technological skills, he could help us get funding outside of just heroes. We could sell some inventions to heroes to help keep us afloat but that would be a short term solution. We can only get so much from them when taking into account all the buildings, bills, equipment and tech we need to constantly use and replace."
"Some passive, independent income for keeping the budget up to snuff would be useful."
Aizawa frowns, not entirely comfortable with relying on an child for financial aid and business advice.
"Surely you could make something yourself, you are, after all, the most intelligent person currently living."
"No, my friend. While I may be extremely intelligent because of my quirk, I have not completely grasped human emotions.
I can understand them for the most part but when it comes to technology that will boom throughout the world, and interests everyone, I am still a little shy of approaching.
Even if did manage it, what I develop may eventually die out and require a successor."
"Next you are going to tell me that you want him to build you a time machine so that you can go to the future and get every lottery number."
Nezu's eyes light up at the thought.
"No, no. No time travel!"
"Time travel." (˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶)
"No time travel." <( •̀ᴖ•́)>
"Time travel." ◝(ᵔᗜᵔ)◜
"No time travel! ヽ(#`Д´)ノ
"Maybe time travel?" (ㅅ´ ˘ `)
"NO TIME TRAVEL!" (╯'□')╯︵ ┻━┻
"No time travel." (•̀⤙•́ )
Aizawa's eyes twitch at the immaturity of U.A's principle, wondering how the school has survived for so long under his leadership.
'These students are doomed. I should get my resignation letter ready, I had to skip coffee for this and I'm still tired. If I can escape Nezu's employment then I can sleep for longer without needing to hear the whining and complaining of the students in my class's.'
'Now this, this does put a smile on my face.' he chuckles to himself, to the confusion of Nezu before quickly putting on a neutral face again. Got to keep the street cred in tact, you know?
"He's done." Power Loader states, looking over at them.
"Whatever his team were building, they've just finished it and are the second group to accomplish the task in the given time. They are definitely a quick bunch."
"Hmm, how long is left until the task's time is up?"
"The clock is right next to you, Aizawa."
"Im too tired to look, so asking you who is keeping track, was the logical action."
"There is just over 10 minutes left until the first phase of the practicals is up. Remember to be strict with your scores, we can't give false hope to those not suited to join the support course."
Aizawa I was planning to, it's only logical to give them my real thoughts on what they have invented so as to discourage them from partaking in what could be a hopeless endeavour should needs be."
"OH!"
Nezu claps his paws in realisation, suddenly remembering some important information that should have been shared with the two earlier, but having forgetten to do so after having been distracted by talks of CryptoGod, and then their current financial crisis having come up.
"I need to inform you both that All Might will be teaching in the coming term at U.A, having finally accepted my offer for employment as a teacher in the hero course."
Power Loader finally turns around, having been distracted from the students tool development by talk of All Might suddenly deciding to give teaching a try.
"Why so sudden? I thought All Might was going to put all one hundred percent of his effort into fighting villains, no time for training the next generation.
Why the sudden change of heart?"
"I'm going to have to ask you to keep this a secret, and only to bring this up when necessary in front of the other staff that have been informed, but All Might, also known as Toshinori Yagi, has decided to train a successor due to a injury caused during his finale battle with All For One."
"Did something happen to him? He seems to have been doing alright from what the news shows of him saving people without much effort."
"Actually, Toshinori has a critical injury that has caused the removal of his stomach and sever damage to his respiratory system.
Due to this, he now can only use his quirk for one hour before needing a long rest to regain his strength, what's surprising is how he's even still alive. A normal person would die with these sustained injuries.
I don't know if it's pure will power or his quirk coming into play but whatever it is, it's the only thing stopping him from falling apart."
They share a solemn silence as this information sinks in, knowing exactly what would happen if this were to reach those inconsiderate news sharks who live and breath for the next big scoop.
Hero society hangs on by a thread as it is, if All Might were to suddenly disappear one day without someone to take his place... the resulting chaos would be disastrous.
