MHA: The Fresh Blood [Rewrite]

Chapter 10: Bloody Berserker

As soon as the Elder Boarbatusk spawned in, I noticed that it didn't only look like a bigger Boarbatusk, unlike how I imagined it. From its back spines made from bone were jutting out from its skin, its legs were longer and more muscular, which made it look even bigger, and the parts of it that weren't covered by bone were covered by large chunks of black ice.

This thing wasn't just an older and more experienced Boarbatusk, it was basically the ultimate form of a Boarbatusk.

Before my on-screen self could even blink, the Elder Boarbatusk was already on the move. It curled up into a ball and spun towards her, its spines making it look like a saw blade as it closed in on her.

Seeing this she did try to jump out of its path, like she did with the first Boarbatusk, emphasis on the word 'try'. Because of its large size, and the black ice making it overall bulkier, she wasn't able to completely avoid it, which she quickly (and painfully) found out.

Its ice armor that covered its body barely grazed her, but it was enough to launch her with such force that she was sent through two trees and smacked into a third one hard, her aura managing to take the brunt of the damage. While she fell down to the ground from where she hit the tree, the Elder Boarbatusk didn't stop rolling, I don't even think it noticed that it hit her already.

"Well. She didn't break anything, but it's something, at least." I said while going to kitchen to grab something to drink from the fridge, looking back at the screen every now and again to not miss anything.

On-screen me, who I'm just gonna call Red ('cause of my semblance), slowly got back on her feet with a look that spoke mountains of how pissed she was. Her aura seemed to even be reacting to her anger, judging by how it's slowly turning a deep red from its previous black.

"Kill... I will... kill... you..." She mumbled as she slowly walked towards where the Elder Boarbatusk had finally come to a stop, after charging through a boulder.

"I will... kill you..." Her slow steps started to turn into a brisk jog, while the Elder Boarbatusk looked around and sniffed the air trying to find her, not realizing that it already passed her prior.

"I will kill you..." Soon she was practically running towards it, the Elder Boarbatusk turning in her direction as it heard her footsteps closing in.

"I'LL KILL YOU!!" Before it could blink, Red used a nearby rock as a platform to jump up into the air, seemingly aiming to go for the Grimm's back.

Normally, this would have been an easy attack, after all, the Elder Boarbatusk didn't have enough time to curl into a ball to avoid her, so it shouldn't have been able to even react in time. But, it looks like those spines weren't just for show. 'Cause the second she got close to its back, one of those spines shot out towards her stomach.

Red was barely able to twist her body to the left to avoid it hitting any vital organs, but it wasn't enough to completely avoid the projectile. The only sounds I heard at that moment were the tearing of fabric, and blood spraying out from her freshly opened wound.

"Hm. That healing part of my semblance is pretty damn good. I don't even have a scar." I lifted my shirt a bit to check where that spine made contact, only to see not even a scratch on my body.

It became even more clear how good it was when I saw the wound on her visibly heal in a matter of seconds, before she went back on the attack. Knowing now that she couldn't go for the back that easily, she tried to go for the legs next. But, the claws on her gauntlets couldn't pierce through its armor, and when she tried to punch it instead, the creature immediately kicked her to the side.

This launched her through another tree, and tore off more of her shirt, because it got snagged on the broken remnants of the tree. She didn't even take a second to breathe before she charged back towards it in another attempt to slay the beast.

"Huh. Now that I look closer, I kinda look like a blonde honey badger while using my semblance. Honestly, I'd look more like one if I ran on all four-" I was saying as I went back to the couch before seeing Red get on all fours and charge towards the Grimm again, after getting kicked a second time.

"I'm just gonna shut up, cause I feel like I'm making some sort of self-fulfilling prophecy here." I said with a flat face as I opened the bottle of strawberry ramune that I got from the fridge.

She kept going at it, again and again, striking at different parts of the Grimm, punches, kicks, and even attempts to bite it. But, each time she was kicked through multiple trees, or stabbed by one of its spines. At this point her clothes were nothing but rags that barely covered anything. I guess that's how my clothes ended up like that.

"Kill... kill... kill..." She kept repeating over and over again as she got back up again for the umpteenth time. Her aura was beginning to flicker, and her eyes looked bloodshot. She's gonna lose at this rate, though she didn't show any signs of giving up.

"You... will... die~..." Red said with a sadistic smile, before charging at the Elder Boarbatusk, which now seemed to be looking at her with contempt.

Though, that expression quickly changed as she went around the broken trees heading for its face instead of the legs, or back, like before. The Elder Boarbatusk tried to roll into a ball, to take advantage of her being directly in front of it. But, suddenly it sounded like a whistle was blown, and the next second one of the Grimm's four eyes popped, causing the beast to howl in pain.

"The hell was that?" I asked as I saw Red take advantage of the Grimm's suffering by lunging towards its face, more specifically towards one of its tusk.

The Elder Boarbatusk, thinking she was going to attack its head, tried to shake her off, but it looked like this was exactly what she wanted. Focusing her aura on her feet she used the tusk to launch her high up into the air, which combined with the erratic shaking of the beast to send her even higher. She must have put a lot of aura and strength into that move, because I heard, and saw, the tusk almost break in two.

As she kept going higher and higher, passing the tree tops and reaching the clouds above, she didn't lose that sadistic smile for a single second. In fact, I think her smile grew wider as she looked down at the Elder Boarbatusk on the ground below.

"Oh! She finna fuck it up. Though, what was that whistling sound earlier?" I asked as Red started to focus her aura down towards her fist.

[Answer: That was the sonic scream ability of the quirk, Siren Song. Though it was focused for a more precise and powerful attack]

"I guess I should have expected that, because she didn't throw anything, and it's not like anyone else was around to attack it. And with that sound earlier, I can kinda tell how she did that." Red continued to pour more of her aura into her hand, like she was trying to make something happen.

It was only when it looked like every drop of aura in her body was in her fist, that something did happen. The gauntlets that covered her hands began to grow in size at an extreme rate, until they dwarfed her body entirely. And due to the addition to her weight she began to fall at a rapid rate.

My eyes widened as I saw her descend to the earth, believing that she might be trying to go for a giant attack to break the Elder Boarbatusk. But that idea was immediately squashed as she seemed to move the giant gauntlets up to her mouth.

"Meat... should learn... its... PLACE!!!" She screamed down towards the Grimm while using Siren Song, her gauntlets funneling the attack straight towards the beast. The sound of her scream was so loud that I had to cover my ears with the pillows on the couch, even though I was only hearing it through the screen.

As the attack made contact with the Grimm, the beast was slammed down into the ground from the force of it, and its armor seemed to break to the point most of it started to fall apart.

Once Red stopped using Siren Song she put her gauntlets together, and continued to fall from the sky like a meteor sent from the heavens. When she neared the creature she yelled out one last 'DIE', before her giant gauntlets made contact and kicked up a large cloud of dust and dirt, the sound of breaking bones and weakened cries of pain were the only thing to that told me that she was successful.

"I can't tell if all of that shit was planned to catch it off guard, or if she just got tired of getting kicked. But, either way, damn that hurt!" I said as I put the pillows down and rubbed my ringing ears, hopefully being the one using Siren Song is less painful than hearing it.

While the dust settled, and the cries of pain became more strained, I went to take a sip of my drink. Which was when I saw the results of Red's earlier attack.

In the center of the screen there laid the Grimm, a massive hole going through it where Red made contact, its armor completely shattered, and a pool of its black blood spreading from its body. Yet, it was still somehow alive, it was still somehow breathing, even if it was just barely.

The Elder Boarbatusk was unable to move, the breaking of its spine and the pain of its injury leaving it crippled. Which meant it was completely powerless as Red ate its body to her heart's content.

Inside its gaping wound I could see her actively devour its stomach and other organs, with a sickeningly blissful smile on her face and covered in its blood. It kind of made me sick to look at, not because I felt creeped out by the smile or anything.

Instead, it was because of... well, I don't know really? Maybe it's the fact that the thing was still alive while she ate it, or maybe it's because the way the Elder Boarbatusk looked right now reminded me too much of myself at one point? Either way, it just made me feel sick when I looked at it, to the point I began to feel nauseous.

"...I don't think I'll be able to look at, or eat pork for a good long long while... System, can you get rid of the stuff from the fridge, and keep it out for the rest of the quest?" As I said this the screen went black and disappeared, I guess that was the end of the recording.

[Answer: Affirmative. All pig-based food products will now be eliminated]

"Thanks..." I laid down on the couch and held one of the pillows close to my chest, trying my best to calm my nausea, and trying to forget that sight.

"After seeing that... I only got one name in mind for my semblance... Bloody Berserker... A perfect fit, don't you think system?..." I chuckled tiredly while I hugged the pillow closer to me.

[Answer: Affirmative, Host. The Semblance of the Host will now be designated as, Bloody Berserker]

I laid there for a couple more minutes, still processing all of that, before the system decided to ask me one of its rare questions.

[Query: Would the Host like to recieve their rewards for completing the first stage?]

"Hm?... Oh, right, the reward... I kinda forgot about that for a bit there..." I turned on to my side, now facing the bookshelf that sat across from the couch.

"Though... before that... can you do something for me?..."

[Answer: As long as it is within the System's power, it will be done, Host]

"Can you stop calling me Host... can you just call me by my name?... It's been bugging me for a while now..." I pulled out a knife from inventory, the hard wood of the handle in my grasp calming my nerves gradually.

[Answer: Understood, Terminus]

I looked confused at what the system had just called me. "My name's, Eve, dude... Not, Terminus." 'Was that it's attempt at a joke or something?'

[Answer: Understood, Eve]

"Thanks... I guess... Now, would you kindly show me the rewards from the first stage?..." I said while I ran my index finger along the back of the knife.

_____________

I dropped my knife in shock as I looked at the rewards I was given, specifically, I was shocked at the item I was given. A blessing from a god, something that I never could have imagined getting prior to today.

"System... how the fuck did I get a blessing...?" Seriously, how?! Last I checked I haven't done anything worth getting one!!

[Answer: Unknown. Hermes has often chosen people to take his blessing for the 'hell of it', so his reason for giving it to you, Eve, is a mystery]

"I... fuck this... I'm taking a nap... System, accept the rewards while I sleep, put the quirk through the adjustment thing... and leave the thing from Hermes in my inventory, I'll put it on later...." I pulled out a blanket from my inventory and wrapped myself in it while I said this. Hopefully I won't feel any pain from the skills while I sleep.

[Answer: Understood, Eve. The System hopes you sleep well]
