Opening his eyes again with great effort he sighed frustratedly. When would it end? The ceiling of the hospital room, the same ceiling I've seen a million times before, and the same smile on the nurse's face, with not a drop of joy in it. The faces change, but the smile is still sad. What is there to be happy about in my situation? To find out at twelve that you're terminally ill, to be completely paralysed at fifteen, and to know that I won't be able to celebrate my twentieth birthday. Let's be honest, there's no reason to have fun. And that smile is just annoying.

- What are you smiling about? - I squeezed out of myself, - what, that this time the operation helped and tomorrow I'll go to play football?

- I'm sorry... - holding back tears whispered a young girl who has been working here for no more than a month and ran out of the room. She will lock herself somewhere and cry again, and then I'll have to listen to the doctor's admonition.

The operation went off without changing a thing. Just like the five surgeries before it in the last week. I've long had doubts about the usefulness of all these procedures, too much I operated, and no change and at whose expense all this? I'm from an orphanage, no friends, all communication is reduced to nurses caring for me and the doctor, who comes in for ten minutes to make a joke and leave. Maybe they're doing experiments, and who can I complain to, the perfect test subject. I don't really care, I just wish it was over already.

- Why did you make the new girl cry? - I heard the familiar voice of a nurse who worked here on my first visit and I know her well. A well-fed woman of about forty years of age came into my field of vision with a brisk gait and gave me the finger. - It's hard enough for them here as it is...

- I'm sorry,' I looked away, 'I'm just tired, can you give me a shot and I'll finally fall asleep for good?

- You're still so funny! - The woman laughed, - today you have a free day, and tomorrow you'll have another operation, so get some rest. A book? - She took the last book of the Harry Potter series from the bedside table and twirled it in front of my eyes.

- Thank you, I'm not in the mood,' the woman shrugged her shoulders and returned the book to its place, leaving me alone.

The rest of the day went on like that, until it started to get dark in the room, and I closed my eyes and fell asleep, hoping it would be the last time.

- Ahem! - Still no luck and I'm still here. I opened my eyes to check the time, but it was too dark, I couldn't see anything. I blinked, but the same darkness was still in front of me, too dark, even the street lamp, which dispelled the night darkness a little, had ceased to fulfil its role.

- Have you decided to meet your guest at last? - A very pleasant female voice sounded, confusing me. Not only was it the first time I'd heard it, but it was definitely not a good time for a visit, as far as I could tell from my surroundings. My eyes got used to the darkness a little, but I didn't see a visitor in sight, as people here do, maybe one of the newcomers? - Oh! You like Potter? Would you like to be like him, the chosen one?

- No!

- Huh?' the stranger was genuinely surprised, 'but you like the story, don't you? Why else would you have a book? The last one by the way... or haven't you finished it yet? I can tell you...

- I finished it,' I interrupted the girl, 'and I don't like it. The world with magic in books is not that rare, and Potter's world is dying, without a stick in your hands you can't create a soap bubble, there are better worlds.

- And what's wrong with Potter himself?

- Hm! As to defeat the main villain so all at once shout 'come the main hero!', 'save us the main hero!', and as to seduce the most beautiful and clever girl, so from behind the corner suddenly crawls out a red-haired friend. I would have written it differently... - the girl laughed out loud at my explanation, but apparently didn't dare to object to the dying guy.

- You seem to be a fan of fanfics, don't you? - The guest asked, laughing, 'All girls should be yours and only yours? It's quite a life story, isn't it?

I didn't answer. Maybe she's right, but I haven't even seen this 'ordinary life', but in the world of fantasy, I've spent a short, but quite pleasant life.

- All right! - The girl interrupted sternly, - you don't want to and you don't have to! - Her voice sounded close by, and I could finally get a glimpse of her appearance. Long black hair, black eyes, and very soft features of an unnaturally white face. Strange that I could see her so clearly in the darkness. - There are other worlds. - she said.

- What?' I shouted involuntarily when I saw the girl's hand on my chest and a very bright light came from it.

- Sleep, - she whispered softly, and I was wrapped in weakness, along with the warmth that spread throughout my body, and caused even more surprise, because my limbs for three years as did not give signs of life, but under the pressure of strong weakness, my eyes began to close involuntarily, - hold a little gift from me, lover. - The last thing I heard was the long beeping of the devices next to the bed, falling into darkness.
