Chapter 92: Chapter 92 "Drive"
Akira's voice carried an air of confidence as he commanded his team to move forward. The crowd erupted with excitement as the cavalry battle officially began. Teams scrambled across the field, some darting forward aggressively while others hung back, strategizing.
Yaoyorozu, acting as the backbone of the team, whispered, "Akira, what's our plan? Charging in might draw too much attention, especially with the high point targets out there."
Akira smirked, standing atop their makeshift horse with Kaminari, Yaoyorozu, and Hatsume supporting him. His sharp eyes scanned the field, noting Todoroki's team already locked in a heated clash with others aiming for the coveted 10 million points.
"We'll play it smart. No need to attract unnecessary attention right now. Let the others weaken each other first."
Kaminari, who was positioned as one of the front carriers, chuckled nervously. "That's good and all, but if we don't act soon, someone else might take all the points, and we'll be stuck with nothing!"
"Relax, Kaminari," Akira said calmly, his tone unwavering. "This isn't just about brute force. It's a chess game. Watch and wait—that's how you win."
Hatsume, the team's wildcard, grinned excitedly. "Great strategy! It'll give me more time to test out my babies!" She patted the gadget strapped to her waist, though Akira shot her a warning look.
"Just don't get us disqualified, Hatsume. Remember, no unauthorized equipment."
"Don't worry, it's all within the rules!" she reassured, her smile unbothered.
As the battle unfolded, chaos reigned across the field. Todoroki's team immediately became the main target, with multiple teams gunning for his 10 million points. Bakugo, having assembled his own team, was plowing through competitors with explosive determination.
"Damn it, Half-and-Half!" Bakugo growled as Todoroki skillfully evaded his attacks. "Stop running and fight me like a man!"
Meanwhile, Midoriya's team played defensively, carefully avoiding direct confrontations while slowly accumulating points by stealing from weaker teams.
Akira's team, however, remained relatively unnoticed.
"Akira," Yaoyorozu said, her tone filled with concern, "we might have waited too long. Teams are closing in on us!"
"Perfect," Akira said with a grin. "Let them come."
As one overly ambitious team charged toward them, Akira raised his hand.
"Sand Wall."
A barrier of sand erupted in front of their attackers, sending them skidding to a halt. Before they could react, Akira directed a second wave of sand to sweep across the field, scattering them in disarray.
"That's... dirty!" one of their opponents yelled, flailing in the sandstorm.
Akira shrugged. "It's called strategy. Try it sometime."
Kaminari laughed nervously. "Man, I'm glad I'm on your team. You're terrifying."
As the battle continued, their calculated approach started to pay off. While the other teams exhausted themselves fighting for Todoroki's 10 million points, Akira's team began targeting smaller groups, quickly amassing points without drawing significant attention.
Present Mic's voice boomed across the stadium. "What's this? Akira's team is making some serious moves! They're climbing the ranks without even breaking a sweat!"
"That's how you play the long game," Aizawa commented from the commentator's booth, his tone neutral but impressed. "He's using his environment and his opponents' aggression against them."
Midnight nodded in agreement. "But the question is, can they maintain this pace as the timer runs down?"
With five minutes remaining, the field had narrowed significantly. Todoroki and Bakugo were still locked in an intense battle, their respective teams refusing to back down. Midoriya's team continued to evade, their tactical gameplay earning them a respectable position.
Akira, standing tall atop his team, surveyed the field once more. "It's time," he said.
"Time for what?" Kaminari asked, his nerves getting the better of him.
Akira's smirk widened. "Time to take the crown."
Without warning, Akira's team surged forward, aiming directly for Todoroki's group. The sudden move caught everyone off guard, including Todoroki himself.
"Akira?" Todoroki muttered, his eyes narrowing. "So you're finally making your move."
With a flick of his wrist, Akira summoned a swirling vortex of sand, isolating Todoroki's team from their attackers.
"Let's see how you handle this, Half-and-Half," Akira said, his voice calm but commanding.
The final moments of the battle were chaotic, with teams scrambling to secure as many points as possible. As the buzzer sounded, Akira's confident grin remained unwavering.
Present Mic's voice rang out once again. "And that's it! The cavalry battle is over! Now let's see how the teams rank!"
The crowd erupted into cheers, eager to see the results.
