Chapter 88: Chapter 88 You're Cheating Again
Hearing this, Yaoyorozu Momo was stunned for a moment before replying, "Just say something."
"Really?"
"Yeah!" Yaoyorozu Momo replied, nodding.
"Huh? Don't you understand this?" Jiro Kyoka, who was beside them, couldn't help but ask after hearing what Akira had said.
Akira smiled awkwardly, his expression a bit more expressive than usual. He hadn't realized that there was a specific way to swear an oath and had no idea what it entailed. It was something that never came up in his memories.
Seeing Akira's confused expression, both Jiro Kyoka and Yaoyorozu Momo couldn't help but cover their mouths and laugh. It was rare for Akira to be caught off guard like this.
"To take an oath, you just say the word 'oath' and then express your feelings," Yaoyorozu Momo explained patiently.
"Akira, please come up quickly!" Anchor's voice rang out from the top of the ring, snapping everyone back to attention.
"Okay, okay. Coming right away," Akira said as he walked towards the platform.
He glanced at all the first-year students before clearing his throat and speaking up.
"Oath: You work hard. If you win, I will lose." Akira said calmly, his voice carrying clearly through the stadium.
As soon as the words left his mouth, the entire audience—students, spectators, and even professional heroes—erupted into an uproar.
"Who is this guy?"
"Seriously? This tone... so arrogant!"
"He's so full of himself. Just because he thinks he's All Might's apprentice doesn't mean he can act this way!"
"I heard he's strong. Let's see if he can back it up."
---
"You're definitely All Might's apprentice. That much is clear," one of the professional heroes said, smirking. "But don't you think he's being a bit too confident? A rash approach like that will only backfire."
"You're right. I'd say if his strength doesn't live up to the hype, his next match is going to be a struggle," another professional hero added.
"Haha, well, if he's as strong as they say, it shouldn't be an issue. But this is the sports festival—he's not only competing against the other students, but also Class A."
---
"All Might, your apprentice seems... energetic," one of the staff members teased as they looked at All Might.
"Of course," All Might replied confidently, "What he said may seem over the top, but there's truth in it. He's ready."
---
After Akira made his statement, he returned to his position. Anchor immediately called for the event to begin.
"Alright, everyone, let's get ready for the first event," Anchor announced.
The big screen lit up, and the first event of the day appeared on the screen: "Obstacle Course."
"Let me explain the rules. There are 11 classes participating. The course is roughly 4 kilometers long, weaving around the sports ground. You can use any method as long as you stay within the track," Wu Ye explained.
Akira muttered to himself, "Obstacle race? A bit traditional, but I'll manage."
The countdown began, and once it reached zero, the gate opened with a loud *click*! Students from all directions surged forward.
Behind the gate lay a 20-meter-long tunnel, and soon, many students were stuck trying to navigate through it. However, an unexpected sight appeared.
An ice bridge stretched over the tunnel as Shoto Todoroki from Class A used his Quirk to glide smoothly across.
Present Mic's voice echoed through the arena. "And there it is! Class A's Shoto Todoroki is leading the pack, crossing the tunnel with his ice bridge. Right behind him, Bakugo Katsuki from Class A follows closely, using the ice bridge to gain second place. Midoriya Izuku is third, using horizontal jumps to avoid the chaos and make it out next."
Akira, however, wasn't far behind. In the blink of an eye, he sprouted a pair of wings and soared through the tunnel, snatching the lead.
The audience gasped.
"Wait, what's that? He's... flying?"
"Unbelievable! Class A's Kitagawa Akira just bypassed everyone using wings. That's... cheating!"
"Technically, it's not against the rules since he's staying within the track," Present Mic clarified with a chuckle. "But wow, what a move."
