Chapter 39: Chapter 37 Quirk's Test
Hearing what Aizawa Shouta said, everyone in the classroom, except Akira, was slightly taken aback. Their ideal head teacher would be tall, strong, handsome, and powerful, but what stood before them was a disheveled, listless man who looked like he could collapse at any moment.
Despite his appearance, the students quickly remembered that in a superhuman society, being thin didn't equate to weakness, and height didn't necessarily indicate strength.
"What's the matter?" Aizawa Shouta glanced around, his tired eyes narrowing.
"No... no problem," everyone answered in unison, shaking their heads.
"Good. Let's not waste time," Aizawa said, bending down to retrieve his sleeping bag and pulling out some sportswear. "Put these on and meet me on the playground."
While Aizawa Shouta headed to the playground, the students went to the locker room to change.
"Akira, you're really incredible," Midoriya Izuku said softly, having already changed into his sportswear and walking over to Akira. "I heard from All Might that you set a new record for the highest entrance exam score in history."
"Really?" Akira responded casually, not particularly concerned. "I didn't pay much attention to that."
Akira wasn't one to focus on records. All he cared about was passing, and anything beyond that was just a bonus.
"I'm a little nervous. It's my first day at U.A.," Midoriya admitted, placing his hand over his chest.
Nervous? Akira smiled slightly. Having lived through countless challenges in this world, he had long since learned not to be nervous about such things.
"Bakugo looks like he wants to eat you alive. Did you do something to him?" Akira asked, raising an eyebrow.
Midoriya quickly shook his head, flustered. "No! It's just... that's just how he is."
"Ah, I see. Well, let's get going. We don't want to be late," Akira said, already heading for the door.
As they walked toward the playground, Akira felt a tap on his shoulder several times. Turning around, he saw Yaoyorozu Momo.
"Excuse me? Do you still remember me?" Yaoyorozu Momo asked softly.
Akira was momentarily puzzled, wondering why she would ask this, but answered truthfully.
"Remember? What's wrong?"
Yaoyorozu Momo smiled slightly. "What a coincidence. I didn't expect that we're in the same class. Thank you last time."
"Last time? What happened in the building?" Akira asked, confused.
Yaoyorozu Momo nodded. "If it weren't for you, I don't know if I would've been safe."
Akira smiled and jokingly said, "If it weren't for me, you would have been safer."
Yaoyorozu Momo looked puzzled at the strange comment. "What?"
"Nothing," Akira said with a grin as they continued walking.
They soon arrived at the playground, where the rest of the class had already gathered in lines.
Aizawa Shouta glanced at them, then spoke in his usual sleepy tone, "You're going to take the Quirk mastery test today."
"Quirk mastery test?" Uraraka Ochaco asked, confused. "Isn't there supposed to be an entrance ceremony or some campus introduction?"
Aizawa Shouta glanced at her with a deadpan expression and said, "If you want to be a Hero, you won't have time for such leisurely activities."
"U.A.'s liberal school spirit applies to us teachers as well," he added.
"You should've done something like this in junior high, right? A physical fitness test, but with Quirks disabled."
As he spoke, Aizawa Shouta pulled out a small device from his pocket and handed it to the students. It displayed various physical fitness test items, such as standing long jump, 50-meter run, repeated horizontal jumps, and more.
"Yeah!" the students nodded.
"Here at U.A., you're allowed to use your Quirks for testing. Everyone understands the importance of this, right?" Aizawa Shouta continued.
Everyone nodded again.
"Well, then, the one who won first place in the practical test is Akira, right?" Aizawa Shouta asked.
Akira nodded.
"How many meters could you throw a softball in junior high?" Aizawa Shouta asked, his tone flat.
Akira frowned, unable to recall the exact number. "70 meters," he replied randomly.
"Good. Then use your Quirk and throw it around," Aizawa Shouta instructed.
Akira nodded, picked up the softball, and stepped into the designated circle.
Aizawa Shouta added, "As long as you don't step out of that circle, you can do whatever you want. Let's start quickly. Time is tight."
Akira gave a slight hum in response, then gripped the softball tightly and threw it with all his strength.
As soon as the ball left his hand, the air around it rippled with the force of the throw. A sharp whistle cut through the air as it sped away.
The device in Aizawa Shouta's hand beeped and displayed the data. However, the screen showed only a pink horizontal figure 8—representing infinity.
Aizawa Shouta's expression stiffened. "This guy..."
He turned the device toward the rest of the class, showing them the result.
"Infinity..."
"How powerful! He threw it infinitely far!"
"That's terrifying. No wonder he ranked first."
Bakugo Katsuki, standing nearby, clenched his fists. The admiration and awe around Akira made him feel uneasy.
"Teacher! Please allow me to throw with my Quirk too!" Bakugo suddenly demanded.
