Chapter 95: The Mistletoe Plan!
As the last traces of Christmas cheer lingered in the classrooms of U.A. High School, Class 1-A buzzed with excitement. The holiday decorations were slowly being packed away, and in their place, an array of glittering New Year ornaments were brought out. Peppy music filled the air, and laughter echoed as students exchanged playful jabs while climbing on ladders and passing one another rolls of tinsel.
Mina Ashido took a break from her task, wiping a bead of sweat from her forehead. Standing atop a chair, she halted in her actions to gaze at the ceiling where a sprig of mistletoe hung from the beams. An idea sparked in her mind—a mischievous scheme that had her grinning from ear to ear.
"Perfect," she whispered to herself. The mistletoe was the ideal setting for the couple's kisses she had been thinking about. She imagined how cute each couple would look, blushing and giggling as they shared fleeting kisses beneath the iconic greenery. Her friends might just need a little nudge in that direction.
Mina quickly devised her plan. First, she gathered her classmates, announcing, "Hey everyone! I've got something fun in mind for us!" The rest of Class 1-A gathered around curiously, eager to hear her proposition.
After a few minutes of arranging, Mina approached Shoto Todoroki and Izuku Midoriya first. "Hey, you two! Come with me for a second, would you?" she said with a bubbly grin, her eyes sparkling with mischief.
Shoto raised an eyebrow, unsure, while Deku looked excited yet apprehensive. "What's going on?" he asked.
"Just a surprise!" Mina chimed, leading them down the hall to an empty classroom, which she had carefully prepped earlier. Inside hung the mistletoe, glowing like a beacon amidst the cheerful New Year decorations.
"Wait, what's happening?" Shoto questioned again as Mina shut the door behind them.
"Okay, you both have to kiss under the mistletoe!" Mina announced, her excitement bubbling over.
"Mina! We can't do that!" Deku's face turned a crimson shade, while Shoto merely blinked.
"C'mon! New Year's is all about new beginnings and embracing love!" Mina insisted, crossing her arms confidently. "Just one little kiss!"
With no time to argue, Mina counted down. "Three! Two! One! Go!"
Deku and Shoto exchanged glances, both flustered but sensing the ridiculousness of the situation. They inched towards each other, cheeks bright red, and with a whisper, Deku said, "Just a quick peck, right?"
"Right," Shoto replied, slightly smirking now.
As they leaned in under the mistletoe, the moment felt surreal, and in that heartbeat, they shared a sweet and gentle kiss. Mina squealed from the side, thoroughly satisfied with her matchmaking efforts.
"Okay, next!" she announced, bubbling with energy as she opened the door and beckoned Bakugo and Kirishima inside. "You two are up!"
"Why are we here?" Bakugo barked, crossing his arms. His usual scowl softened slightly when he saw the mistletoe.
"Because you have to kiss under here!" Mina challenged, feigning seriousness.
Kirishima turned redder than a beet, his eyes sparkling with surprise. "Oh! Like Deku and Shoto?"
"Exactly!" Mina grinned, her plan in full effect.
After a boisterous debate filled with teasing and reluctance, Bakugo finally huffed, "Whatever! Just get it over with!" He grabbed Kirishima by the collar, and before either knew it, they leaned in and shared a quick kiss.
Mina cheered, dragging them out and bringing in the next couple: Kaminari and Shinsou. After a couple more rounds of laughter and kisses—each one bursting with energetic enthusiasm—the small classroom transformed into an impromptu love den, filled with giggles, playful shoves, and sweet moments.
Eventually, it was time for Tsuyu and Uraraka, then Iida and Mei Hatsume. Each couple entered shyly and exited with widened smiles, their hearts fluttering in the aftermath of stolen moments. Mina felt a warm glow spread inside her as she witnessed the beauty that unfolded before her.
Finally, after what seemed like magical minutes of joy, Mina brought everyone back to the main room where the rest of Class 1-A awaited. "So? How was it?" she asked, her eyes sparkling with satisfaction.
"I can't believe you did that, Mina!" Deku said, still blushing profusely.
"I never knew it'd be so much fun!" Kirishima laughed, his usual exuberance undiminished.
"Yeah, yeah. You all owe me after that embarrassing stunt," Bakugo huffed, though even he couldn't hide the slight smile curling on his lips.
"No need to publicly thank me! Happy almost New Year, everyone!" Mina rejoiced, her heart swelling with happiness knowing she had played a part in making memories for her friends.
As they settled into a celebratory mood, the atmosphere thrummed with unspoken potential. The night continued filled with laughter, games, and a hopeful spirit as each couple lingered in the playful warmth created by mistletoe kisses, marking the beginning of a year rife with dreams and endless possibilities.
