MHA: All For Me

Chapter 3: Growth Pains

I wake up to that damn All Might alarm.

"Wake Up! Morning is Here! Wake Up! Morning is Here!" it blares in the most annoying way possible.

"Ugghhh ... noooo." I groan out weakly while shoving my head under my pillow to drown out the noise.

"Sorry Ken." Izuku said while jumping out of his bed and getting dressed quickly like he did the day before. He had the decency to at least look sorry about it.

"How often are you going to wake up early?" I question. I might just start sleeping on the couch if this is going to be an everyday occurrence.

Izuku pauses and looks over at me sheepishly. "Well, I kind of need to keep this schedule for my training. Sorry again!"

"Don't shout you idiot! It's just gonna make me lose any of the sleep I have left in me." I say as I wrap myself in my blanket to try and regain the sleep I've lost.

"Sorry!" Izuku yells as he rushes out of the bedroom. I hear the apartment door open and close a couple of seconds later as he rushes out.

I sigh and roll over, glaring at the ceiling. Training, huh? Izuku has a clear goal in mind. He wants to build up his body so he can take All Might's quirk and then pass the U.A. entrance exam and get into the hero course. Meanwhile, I'm still trying to figure out what I want to do with my second chance at life while also trying to figure out how best to steal quirks and keep a low profile.

What's my endgame here? Honestly I'm pretty lazy in general and I doubt I would have even left the house if I actually was quirkless. I would just spend my time in my home until the weekend was over and then go back to school.

But now I have a pretty sick power and that has motivated me to go outside and actually do things. If the novelty of super powers ever wears off then I'm done for.

I may not know if I want to try and get into U.A. high school yet, but I know Ken did and since I'm him now I may as well work towards that goal. I mean, it's not a bad goal at all. Being a successful hero would make someone set for life. They would have wealth and an unreasonable amount of fame. Plus they get a free pass to use their quirks legally.

There's a reason that everyone applies for hero schools and this is it.

While Ken and Izuku both wanted to be heroes, they didn't really work towards that goal. They were just going to take the U.A. entrance exam and hope for the best. Lets face it, there was no way that they would have gotten into U.A. like that. Quirkless and no special skills to help them. Even Batman had all those crazy gadgets and martial arts.

I honestly don't understand how they thought they had a chance when they weren't working towards it. Izuku got lucky and caught All Might's attention but Ken would have failed to get into U.A. for sure.

But now I inhabit his body so we have a chance.

I kind of feel like I'm being held hostage. I read the manga and watched the anime for My Hero Academia. Japan was essentially destroyed and had to rebuild. I doubt that things will get better if I don't at least try to help. Plus I don't want to live in a ruined country.

Well there are worse goals than being a hero. I may as well try my best at it.

And to start I should train my body.

I hop out of bed and dress in a green tracksuit that the original Ken never used. It was in the back of the closet and smelled like it had never been used. The damn tags were still on it. Why even buy it if you were never going to use it!

Whatever, why am I even getting mad about it.

I leave the apartment building and start jogging to the park. I also activate Growth Surge on my muscles.

There were many different uses for Growth Surge. It could make a person or, in the way I was using it, an animal grow faster in general or I could gear it towards specific types of growth. In this case I'm using it just for my muscles. I don't want to age myself faster like I am all the animals in the park.

This doesn't last forever. I would have to reapply it everyday but that's fine.

By the time I make it to the park I can actually feel a slight toning to my figure.

Izuku would actually become the perfect vessel in like a week if I used Growth Surge on him considering his workout routine was intense. I only jogged for like 5 minutes and I can already feel a slight improvement to myself.

I walk into the center of the park and use Heightened Vision to look around. I examined all the animals and there were many new additions. A bunch of baby animals.

Well that's a problem. It seems like Growth Surge didn't pass on to the babies. I had hoped to come back today and see a bunch of generations of animals already being bred but it seems like I'll need to dedicate a full day to this project and keep on applying Growth Surge.

There actually was one quirk in the new generation which is crazy since there must have been hundreds of new animals here.

It was a squirrel with a pretty promising quirk.

[Quirk: Tinder. Allows the user to create small flames.]

It wasn't amazing but it was very promising. If I could nurture this and pass it on to the next generation of squirrels then it could end up strengthening with each generation.

I apply Growth Surge to all the animals, specifically the females, to speed up the birthing process and then use Animal Control to command them to breed. I specifically focused on the squirrels. Luckily the Squirrel with a quirk was male so I could have him mate with multiple females in hopes one of the children would inherit the Tinder quirk.

Wait a minute. Is this eugenics?

Moving on, I decided to continue with my training. I didn't really exercise much in my first life. I'd run every morning but I wasn't doing much other than that. Having a stay at home job with a computer science degree led to me living a pretty sedentary lifestyle.

So of course I decided to follow the greatest training plan to have ever been created.

100 push-ups, 100 sit-ups, 100 squats, and 10 km run!

Saitama used this to become the strongest so why couldn't I!

I started with push ups.

I greatly overestimated my capabilities.

By the time I completed 10 push ups my arms were tired. By the time I did 15 I collapsed to the ground. Holy shit I'm weak. 15 pushups and I've already collapsed.

Lying on the ground I feel my arms start to burn and the pain disappear as they become slightly more toned.

The original ken wasn't fat by any means. He and Izuku both ate little so they were actually really skinny. Like twigs. So even slight toning in my arms was pretty noticeable.

Getting back into the push up position I begin again with determination. I refuse to stop until I do 100 push ups in one go. Growth Surge did its job well since I was able to get back up to 15 push ups a lot easier than my first attempt. When I reach 25 my arms start to tremble again. I was at that point where a normal person would stop and regret that they tried to exercise because they knew that they had strained themselve too far and they would be in pain for the next couple of days.

But I pushed past that urge! I didn't need to worry about straining myself and putting myself out of commission because Growth Surge would handle it by building the muscles up quickly.

Through sheer force of will I was able to get up to 50 before I was literally screaming in pain and collapsing once more while letting Growth Surge speed up the process of building up my muscles.

This is going to be so worth it when I can do 1000 pushups at once.

I pull myself up and sit on the grass and take a little break. Using Heightened Vision I check on the animals again, specifically the squirrels. The squirrel with the Tinder quirk had already bred a couple of litters that were birthed. I applied Growth Surge on the new litters and watched in fascination as those fleshy baby squirrels grew into proper furry adults.

Out of the 16 new squirrels that were born from the Tinder squirrel only two of them had quirks.

[Quirk: Tinder. Allows the user to create medium flames.]

[Quirk: Pyrokinesis: Allows the user to control existing flames.]

One of them was the same as the Tinder squirrel but a little stronger. The other had a Pyrokinesis quirk that allowed them to control existing flames. That last one was actually pretty good. I could just carry around a lighter and then I'd be able to use it well. Or I could keep breeding the squirrels until I got a squirrel that had a form of Pyrokinesis that could actually generate its own flame.

I know I could just steal both of these quirks and use them in tandem but why do that when I could just selectively breed the squirrels until I get what I want.

Checking on the other animals and using Growth Surge on the newborns I can assuredly say that it's rare for an animal to have a quirk. I think the fact that the squirrels already have a quirk makes it easier for their newborns to also have quirks but even that was only 2 out of the 16 that were born so even that was a little rare.

Feeling the strain in my arms disappear I get back into position and continue the push ups until I reach 100.

And then I continue onto the next exercise. And then the next, and so forth, until I eventually reach the last exercise and begin jogging around then park. I had regularly checked on all the animals and applied Growth Surge to the new spawn between my rests.

Unfortunately none of the animals, other than the squirrels, had gotten quirks. And the squirrels just had different forms of Pyrokinesis and Tinder with varying strengths.

By the time I had spent 2 hours at the park I decided that was enough for today. I command all the animals to do one last breeding before leaving. I'll check on the results tomorrow when I come by again to train.

It was so awkward to train in the middle of an animal orgy.

Speaking of training, I got a lot of gains today. Growth Surge was really the perfect quirk for anyone that aspired to train their body. Overall I now looked like a healthy young teen with a toned body. I wasn't on the level of Izuku by the end of the 10 months training with All Might but I'm sure I'll get there eventually. Even surpass it.

Anyway, leaving the park behind I pull out my phone and look up where the closest hospital is.

I could be there in 20 minutes if I jogged the whole way. And I was going to do that. Any form of physical activity is good for me.

20 minutes later I was standing outside the hospital. There was a slow but steady stream of people going in and out the pristine white building. Each with their own quirk sparkling within my sight.

If I was a lesser man I'd be stealing all their quirks right now. It would be so easy to just pull on all the quirk in my sight. No one would even realize what was going on before it was too late. And any hero that came to investigate would end up powerless since I could just steal their quirk. But no. My inner demons can't win.

Ignoring those thoughts I activate Heightened Vision and look through the hospital. Ignoring the hundreds of quirks I had the urge to steal, I just focus on finding the hospital's morgue. Eventually I found it. It was a sterile room with metal walls and a doctor writing something on a clipboard.

4 corpses were lined up on metal tables within the center of the room with sheets covering them.

Thank god!

They all had glowing orbs in their chests. I could steal their quirks. I examine each quirk and read their descriptions.

[Quirk: Tiny Wings. The user can summon small, delicate wings on their back]

[Quirk: Surveillance. The user can create an invisible lens-like object that can be affixed to any surface. The lens allows the user to see through it, offering a clear view of the location.]

[Quirk: True Sight. The user can perceive invisible people or objects as if they were fully visible, allowing the user to interact with them or track their movements. However, the quirk only works within a limited range and requires focus to maintain.]

[Quirk: Bestowal. the user can bestow their attributes to others through touch. Attributes given away are lost in the process.]

Tiny Wings didn't seem that useful. I'd have to test it out but its description makes it seem as if they are just cosmetic.

Surveillance seemed really useful but it seemed like I could only have one lens active at a time.

True Sight seemed useful but with further thought maybe it wasn't that useful. I know there was that invisible girl at U.A. high school, I forgot her name, so I'd be able to see her but other than that I don't remember there being any other invisible people in the anime. Or invisible objects either so True Sight seemed like it was more of a novelty.

The worst was Bestowal. That was my first thought when I read its description. What a useless quirk. Why would anyone ever use it when all it could do was give up pieces of the user. If I gave my intelligence to someone I would be permanently stupider.

It just doesn't seem like a smart thing to use.

And this is true for the average person. But I'm not the average person. I know for sure I could safely bestow my strength to others. I might lose it temporarily but then I'd just use Growth Surge to build it back up so that's one way to use it that wouldn't affect me too much.

Plus, quirks are technically attributes right, so I'd be able to give them away with Bestowal. Maybe. I'd need to test it.

God damn I'm excited! And now I know for sure that I can steal a quirk even after the user is dead. Well, as long as the body hasn't been destroyed. And I might have the perfect quirk to now give away quirks as well!

I need to test this!

I ran away from the hospital, very suspiciously I might add, and travel back to my domain, the park.

First I place a Surveillance lens on the ground. It's invisible but the funny thing is that True Sight lets me see it. It looked like one of those plastic toy jumping poppers that you turn inside out and then they jump into the air but it looked like clear glass.

The second it's placed on the ground I can switch my vision from my actual vision to a 360 degree view from the lens.

It's pretty useful. This park is essentially my base now and at least this way I'll be able to check on the animals just in case.

Next I need to test Bestowal. I command one of the rabbits to come towards me. It hops towards me and I pick it up. It wriggles around a little in my arms so I grab it by the scruff of its neck and activate bestowal while thinking about giving it Tiny Wings. I feel the Quirk flow through my arm and into the rabbit and settle nicely into its chest.

Nice! That worked really well.

I watch the rabbit for a couple of seconds more but don't see any actual changes to it.

Does it not know how to activate the quirk?

I use the possession aspect of Animal Control for the first time and possess the rabbit.

Wow, that's disorienting. And I'm so high off the ground. Let me try activating the wings.

I focus on activating Tiny Wings and suddenly a pair of small detached wings the same color as the rabbits gray fur appear on the back of the rabbit. I can even flap them around a little.

With further testing I find that I can unsummon them and summon them again. So at least they're not permanent.

Letting go of the possession I pop back into my body and look down at the rabbit while examining its new wings.

They are pretty cute.

I let go of the rabbit and let it hop back to the orgy. I'm hoping that maybe the Tiny Wings quirk will become part of its DNA and that maybe one of its litter would inherit it.

With another application of growth surge on all the animals I leave and go back to the apartment.
