Chapter 25: Part 2 week 1

The air in the detention classroom hung thick and heavy, like a particularly stubborn fog. Gone were the vibrant hero costumes, replaced by an assortment of ill-fitting sweatpants, oversized hoodies, and the occasional rogue pair of pajama bottoms. This wasn't a heroic gathering; this was Class 1-A, exiled to the purgatory of after-school detention for a week. Day one had been marked by a resigned silence, punctuated only by the occasional sigh and the rhythmic tapping of pencils against desks. By day five, the atmosphere had curdled into a potent cocktail of boredom and simmering resentment.

Lida, surprisingly, seemed unaffected (or simply excellent at masking it) by the monotony. Bakugo, on the other hand, was a coiled spring, his jaw clenched so tight it looked like he might shatter a molar. Uraraka kept trying to do handstands against the wall and failing spectacularly, which provided a small, fleeting source of amusement.

But day six… oh, day six was where the volcano of boredom finally erupted.

It started, predictably, with Kaminari. His eyes, usually lit up with mischief, had taken on a dull, vacant quality. "Dude," he groaned, sliding down in his chair until he was practically horizontal, "I'm gonna turn into a puddle of pure apathy if we don't do something."

"Like what, Sparky?" Sero drawled, spinning a piece of tape around his finger with the practiced ease of a bored spider.

That's when the idea bloomed, festering like a particularly potent mushroom. "Truth or Dare?" Kaminari announced, his voice tinged with a manic excitement that didn't bode well.

And so, it began.

Initially, the dares were tame. Asking Todoroki to sing a pop song (his monotone rendition of "Baby One More Time" remains a source of both nightmares and giggling fits), or forcing Bakugo to compliment Kirishima's hair (which he did through gritted teeth). Things escalated quickly.

Deku, bless his heart, was forced to do a series of increasingly ridiculous pushups while making bird noises. Soon he was topless. Sero, in a moment of misguided bravery (or perhaps just plain stupidity), dared Kaminari to lick a window, which led to a face-off with a rather angry looking fly. And then the shirts came off again, this time it was Kaminari and Sero. By the time Mina and Jiro got involved, the room had transformed into a chaotic circus of adolescent hormones and questionable decisions.

Things took a truly bizarre turn when Mina, eyes gleaming with mischief, pointed at Bakugo and Shoto and exclaimed, "I dare you… to kiss!"

A collective gasp filled the room. Bakugo looked like he might explode, and Todoroki's normally impassive face registered something akin to utter confusion. But a dare was a dare. After a tense standoff that lasted far longer than anyone thought possible, they finally collided in a surprisingly awkward, yet somehow intense, kiss. Mina and Jiro were practically rolling on the floor, tears streaming down their faces. The rest of the class was a chaotic mix of shock, fascination, and thinly veiled amusement.

The dares got worse, and yet, strangely, no one seemed able to stop. It was a bizarre, glorious, chaotic mess. By the time the bell finally rang, marking the end of detention, the classroom looked like it had been raided by a pack of particularly rowdy teenagers – which, it turns out, was exactly what had happened.

Day seven arrived with a strange sense of calm. The energy was still there, buzzing just beneath the surface, but it was… different. Instead of defaulting to bored silence, the students actually started… talking. Real conversations. They debated the merits of different ice cream flavors, shared embarrassing childhood stories, and even, dare they say, laughed together without the underlying pressure of a poorly conceived game.

Bakugo and Todoroki, while still radiating a certain level of grumpiness, seemed a little less like they were ready to combust. They sat together, an unspoken understanding simmering between them. Deku, Kaminari and sero had their shirts back on, and Mina and jiro were still giggling from the previous events, but they were able to have genuine conversation.

As the bell rang for the end of detention, there was a strange sense of camaraderie in the air. It was almost… nice. Maybe, just maybe, the rest of detention wouldn't be so bad after all. And, if the quiet smirks on a few faces were anything to go by, they were already concocting new, equally ridiculous games for the days to come. This detention was far from over.
