NOVEL NEXT Chapter 5: Training Time
Pearl and Crystal enter the courtyard ready for training
Pearl: whoa! This place is huge!
Crystal: this is where all merpeople train to become warriors and where you'll train to become one
Pearl: awesome, let's get started!
Crystal: now try and make a weapon made of ice like you did before
Pearl: okay
Pearl strains until her necklace glows makes an ice spear
Pearl: is this okay?
Crystal: perfect, now try and attack me
Pearl: are you sure?
Crystal: yes, I'm sure
Pearl: all right
Pearl tries to attack Crystal but she grabs the Spear easily and pokes Pearl with the other side
Pearl:Oww!
Crystal breaks the spear
Pearl: how did you do that?
Crystal: I'm as surprised as you. How come you almost defeated My mother but struggling against me?
Pearl: I don't know, I guess I was so Angry that my powers were stronger
Crystal: hmm your mother did say that her strong emotions made her necklace powers stronger
Pearl: so I need to get angry?
Crystal: not exactly, your mom's powers were tied to her emotions so if she ever felt happy or angry something would always happen
Pearl: so the stronger the emotion the stronger the power?
Crystal: exactly!
Pearl: well, I think I can manage that. Does Excitement count as an emotion?
Crystal: I guess so
Pearl: well I'm really excited to learn to be a warrior, I'm excited to learn that I'm a Mermaid and I'm excited to learn that I'm a princess!
Pearl's necklace glows and as she's listing the things she's excited about her voice becomes increasingly high-pitched creating a sonic boom blasting Crystal away
Crystal: Oww!
Pearl: Oh My Gosh! Aunt Crystal, are you okay?!
Crystal: yeah, your mom's done that attack on me hundreds of times when we were kids
Pearl: I'm glad that you're okay but did you see that?! I can create sonic blasts! What else can I do?!
Crystal: well let's see...
Before Crystal can answer Pearl an eel monster is attacking the City
Pearl: what is that thing?!
Crystal: looks like one of The Vortex Queen's monsters!
Pearl: I already took down one, how hard can this one be?
The monster shoots a bolt of lightning at the palace destroying it
Pearl: okay, maybe a bit hard
Crystal: don't worry Pearl, the Royal guards have it all under control
The guards All try to stab the monster but as soon as their spears touch the monster they all get shocked and fall to the seafloor
Pearl: under control?
Crystal: okay I might have underestimated this monster, wait where's your friend Lilly
Pearl: last time I saw her She said she wanted to stay In the palace with Grandma
Pearl and Crystal stand still for a moment before realising something
Pearl: (gasps) LILLY!
Crystal: (gasps) MOTHER!
they both swim to the palace to check on Lilly and Azura but the monster blast a bolt of lightning at Pearl but Crystal pushed her out of the way
Pearl: Aunt Crystal, are you all right?!
Crystal: (coughs) I'm paralyzed... but I should... be... okay...
Crystal goes unconscious
Pearl: Aunt Crystal?! Aunt Crystal wake up! Aunt Crystal!
Pearl looks up to see the monster charging another Lighting bolt
Pearl: you! I'm gonna make you regret doing that!
Pearl's necklace glows before the monster blasts her with a lighting bolt but Pearl blocks it by making a whirlpool redirecting it back to the monster
Pearl: hey freak, get ready 'cause I'm gonna take you down
Pearl makes another whirlpool causing the Eel spin around and throwing it on the ground multiple times before throwing In the nearest underwater Volcano
Pearl: (pants) that should do it
Crystal: well done, Pearl
Pearl: you're okay?
Crystal: yes, I new that you could defeat that monster, you just needed the right incentive so I pretended to be paralyzed and be unconscious
Pearl: but what if I failed?
Crystal: you couldn't because I believed in you
Pearl: thanks, Aunt Crystal. Wait, shouldn't we check on Lilly and Grandma?!
Crystal: you're right
They both dig through the rumble of the palace but can't find Lilly or Azura
Pearl: where are they?
Crystal: I don't know, I think they're...
Azura: right behind you?
Pearl and Crystal look behind themselves to see Lilly and Azura and hug them
Crystal: mother! How did you get out?
Azura: well I saw the monster and just before the lighting bolt struck I was able to swim away with the human using my superspeed
Pearl: wait, Mermaids have superspeed?
Azura: you have much to learn
Lilly: anyway, Girl, I saw you fighting that monster, you were awesome
Pearl: thanks, but we gotta go, we have school In the morning
Lilly: oh right
Pearl: Bye Grandma. Bye Aunt Crystal
Crystal: bye
Meanwhile at The Vortex Queen's lair
Vortex Queen: another one of my monsters bites the dust, it's clear that Pearl is a capable warrior... maybe it's time we met face to face
