Chapter 34: Importance Of Anti-Parasite Drops
Maxwell felt the wave of mana before it reached him. It was strange to sense mana on such a scale. It was like trying to understand every individual in a crowded gathering.
The impact itself was very brief. A multicolored flash consumed Maxwell's sight, but his vision started to return immediately, signifying that the wave had passed.
This of course was not because the wave was small, but because it was ridiculously fast. Individually, the mana particles had no intention to harm. Maxwell could see thath if they had that, this area would obediently turn into dust.
The mana was doing something opposite. It was trying to change everything it touched with no concern for efficiency. It was as if someone wanted to use this mana as inefficiently as possiible.
For a moment after the impact, Maxwell had the illusion that everything was normal. The mana seemed unbothered if things didn't have consciousness. It just passed through them, changing them. For living beings, though, Maxwell was not sure, as his barriers were completely demolished by the mana.
The puppy and Blueberry seemed fine. The puppy was in Maxwell's embrace, and if anything, it looked confused. Meanwhile, Blueberry was even stranger than Maxwell, as it was not physical at the moment.
The bird simply let the mana phase through her by completely turning immaterial. Maxwell could see the bird, but the bird gave him a strange feeling. She didn't seem fully real. He felt that she wouldn't be this relaxed if the mana actively tried to harm them, but whatever the bird used had been more than enough for the present situation.
After checking the situation of his slowly growing group of pets, Maxwell turned his attention to himself. His body felt unharmed but not unchanged. He felt weirdly light. He quickly summoned his notifications to see the reason. He had been ignoring them for quite some time.
Window Of The Soul Leveled Up 38→50
Visualization Leveled Up 43→50
Guide Mana Leveled Up 73→76
Prima Sense Leveled Up 56→65
Magic Theory Leveled Up 50→60
Soul's Voice Leveled Up 56→63
Mana Infusion Leveled Up 56→62
The Compendium Leveled Up 2→8
Parallel Thoughts Leveled Up 27→28
This will take some time… Maxwell thought as he couldn't see a few skills in the list. That usually happened when they were being readjusted. Also, this time, the system seemed not to reward him with any soul manipulation levels. He quickly summoned the next screen.
Metal Mana Achieved Level 2 Recording
Water, Blood, Wood, Wind Affinities Reached Level 1 Recording.
The fact that a simple way could give him this much progress in this skill was a bit scary. He wouldn't complain, though. Now, he would have a considerable advantage in many mana types.
He could also see that there was more progress in mana types that aligned with the forest. It made sense for the wave to contain such types. Metal mana was probably drawn in by his infusion into his body. He summoned the next screen.
Myriad Mana Projectiles(42)→ Myriad Mana Constructs(40)
Myriad Mana Constructs: Create constructs of different shapes from mana. The number of constructs created is connected to how much mana you can control. Created mana constructs can absorb the ambient mana after creation, strengthening them and giving them different properties.
Myriad Mana Constructs Leveled Up 40→51
I guess the barriers worked better than I realized. Maxwell commented as he saw the level increase. This skill essentially just said that he now didn't have to throw his constructs. Maxwell was pretty satisfied with it as he fought with the skill whenever he wanted the construct to stay where it was before.
Infused Mana Burst(30)-->Infusion Empowerement(12)
Infusion Empowerment: Infuse mana inside your body to make it more conductive toward the type infused. The infused body part will be affected according to the concept of the affinity of the mana. Infused can be released violently.
Infusion Empowerment Leveled Up 12→15
Now, this was a readjustment that Maxwell really liked. The previous version of the skill was very limited and more basic. This skill, on the other hand, had much higher potential compared to the other.
Mental Resistance(45)-->Mind Of The Merchant(1)
Mind Of The Merchant: You are the Merchant who deals with beings beyond your comprehension. Just their memories inside your mind protect it against the mortal dangers. May the width of your mind increase to contain the incomprehensible.
Maxwell was not really sure what this skill did, but the level drop was just stupid. It made him suspect that the system had given him this skill just to prevent the previous event from getting leaked. It didn't even level up after the readjustment. He summoned the next window.

New Ratio 6:4
Huh? This is why I feel lighter? Maxwell was not really sure what to feel about this. He never expected this trait to upgrade this fast. He summoned his status to see how it affected things.

His list of general skills was getting shorter and shorter. He was not sure why he wasn't receiving any, but it was not like he was trying many different things. His observation and mathematics were coming along too. He muted notifications for those skills some time ago due to their passive nature.
The main subject of the moment, though, was his health. Maxwell stared at the ridiculous stat. Normally, one would need 152 vitality to have the health he had. This would probably place someone in the ranks of people who were specializing in this stat. Partial Ethereal Body was truly overpowered.
He closed the status window and glanced around at last, taking in the new landscape around him. Everything around him was weird in a way. Trees had different colors and textures, the soil was strange, and the grass was individually changed. Every single blade of grass had a different color, making the place look like a kaleidoscope.
The puppy let out a whimper as it watched the world from Maxwell's arms. It seemed to now understand what was happening. Blueberry, on the other hand, was going from tree to tree in an apparent excitement. The bird seemed to like the new decorations. Maxwell observed some things randomly.
Mutated Tree - Lvl-11
Fire Rock - Tier 2
Mana Infused Soil – Tier 1
This place... it didn't take too long for Maxwell to realize that this place was suddenly filled to the brim with treasures. He started to move towards the cave once more to see if the quality was getting better.
If he could get some tier 2+ or even tier 3 materials from here, even if he didn't know what to do with them now, he felt that he would thank himself later.
The puppy let out a yelp as they suddenly accelerated towards the cave. "Be calm, Felix," Maxwell tried to calm the Puppy, also naming him on the spot.
They were soon near the cave, once more. Maxwell could see that the rock around the cave was completely different now. It shone brilliantly in a multicolored light. He observed it .
Mana Rock – Tier 1
A form of rock appearing environments saturated with mana. This particular rock was created by unnatural means. It has many uses.
This close to the cave, the rock probably didn't have enough time to get infused by a specific affinity. It was bombarded by every type instead.
Maxwell walked towards the cave, feeling the mana around him increase. This was probably one of the uses of the mana rock, as it noticeably increased the mana in the air.
Maxwell hoped that insides of the cave would have a higher tier version of the same rock, and he was not dissapointed.
As he walked inside the cave, the walls were even more brilliant than outside. As a formality, Maxwell observed them too.
Mana Rock – Tier 2
A form of rock appearing in environments with immense mana density. The rock is fundamentally changed. Has many uses.
Simple enough, Maxwell commented as he continued to walk towards the heart of the cave. The walls progressively got smoother, as if the mana pruned the irregularities. They slowly became more crystallized in texture, and Maxwell was not surprised to see that they became tier 2+ as they walked.
When they were in the familiar opening, they were faced with a surreal sight. All of the folliage that was covering the place was gone as the giant space was now empty. The walls were completely made of beautiful crystals, and Maxwell could literally touch the mana around them due to sheer denstity. He observed the walls.
Crystalized Mana – Tier 3
With enough density, the concept of the rock was completely erased from this material, turning it into pure mana. Crystalized Mana is almost impossible to break in the same tier. Has many uses.
This was good and all, but Maxwell couldn't really see how he could transport this rock outside. He was strong for his tier, yes, but he was not strong enough to mine a material which tier 3's couldn't break. His attention, though, was on something else.
From what he has seen, until now, the trees have not died due to the mana wave. They changed, sure, but they still lived. The fact that an immense number of plants were disappearing from this room was a bit worrying.
Maxwell walked towards the center of the room, trying to understand what had happened. As he moved towards the center, he realized that the soil here was the same as before. In a circle around 30 meters, the mana wave left the soil untouched, as if it were forbidden to change it.
In the center of the room, though, there was something all right. It was just that Maxwell wasn't sure what it was. On the ground, there was a green sludge. It looked like it was made from an innumerable number of little strings, and it was moving slowly as if it were breathing. It made a weird friction sound as it moved. Maxwell hurriedly observed the the truly disgusting object. To his dismay, he could actually instinctively feel that this thing was considered valuable by his trait, so it should be pretty unique. His trait never reacted like that before.
Symbiotic Nature Parasite – Tier 1(Growth)
A mutualist parasite, desiring to merge with a willing host to grow together. The creation of this parasite should have been impossible in this timeline, but due to the interference of the ??? It was created for ???'s child. The creator sends their regards to the Merchant.
Maxwell's eye twitched as he saw the explanation. The traveler seemed truly powerful, being able to send a message using a system explanation even after dying. He was a bit lost about what to do with the parasite. From the explanation, it was apparent that this was intended for Felix. Was he supposed to throw the Puppy inside?
Luckily, his question was answered as the sludge suddenly started to move. It made a sickening whistling sound as it moved, and Maxwell was pretty sure that he would receive a level to Mental Resistance if he still had the skill.
The parasite launched itself towards them, with a speed comparable to the average tier 2 animal on the planet right now. To Maxwell's senses, it was still in slow motion, but this made it even creepier.
Countless filaments of the parasite eerily flowed in the air towards them. Felix seemed strangely unbothered by this, apparently not feeling the same revulsion as Maxwell towards the unholy creature.
It barked excitedly towards the parasite, before the green sludge entirely covered him. It was not a long or complicated process. Just about two seconds later, he was looking at Maxwell with the same eyes as before, looking eager to play.
Maxwell observed the puppy once again to see if anything had changed. The last time, he couldn't discern anything out of the ordinary.
Felix – Dog – Level(4)
A completely ordinary dog.
Is the system kidding me? Maxwell was confused by the result. Before, he could understand that this result was due to the dog's inherited trait being dormant, now though it had a giant ass parasite inside it.
It's probably for the better this way. Maxwell sighed before picking up the dog once more. If he couldn't see anything out of the ordinary, probably normal people wouldn't be able to see it too.
"Chirp!" Blueberry, who was following them in a distracted manner, chirped from a nearby tree. She was holding something in her beak. Maxwell observed it.
Mind Fruit – Tier 2++
A fruit changed by an immense amount of mind mana. Could be used to enhance the affinity for the mind mana.
You got yourself a treasure, too? Maxwell asked the bird as he chuckled. The trio started to walk towards the city soon. And Maxwell's satchel continued to grow heavier as he stashed anything valuable inside it.
