Melanie's Adventures

Chapter 3: Lucy tears up

Lucy was born in a not-so-remote town. This town was plagued by misfits who committed many atrocities without any reason. Her mother was a teacher at a basic school. Madame Sefa was what the students called her. She was very kind and helpful to many people much to the dismay of her husband. Her husband feared that one day, she would help the wrong person at the wrong time.

Unfortunately, his predictions came true. Late in the night, the cry of infants could be heard all over the place but everyone knew better to stay inside and mind their business, well, everyone except Madame Sefa. Under the guise of darkness, she left her husband's side and went straight for the door. She thought smart but not enough, she decided to open the door a little and peek through the opening.

As soon as she did that, an overwhelming force came from behind the door, pushed her and pinned her down. She managed to let out a scream whichade the head of the house come rushing to the center of commotion but at the instant he found himself there, he was shot in the head. Madame Sefa let out muffled screams at the sight of cruel death.

As if that was not enough, the culprit decided to eat his cake and have it as well. Madame Sefa's garments was torn to shreds exposing her cleavage. She was raped before being tortured to her death.

All this while, twelve year old Lucy had managed to creepy silently into a corner and witnessed everything of what must not be mentioned again. She was too stunned to speak, too stunned to react at all. With devastation, she knocked over a set of stacked bowls and gave out her hideout.

The killer let out a sigh, fueling his intent to kill with every breath he took in. He dashed towards the helpless little girl, formulating new gruesome ways to kill a child with every step that he took.

Lucy was petrified. Her instincts made her move her hand and felt something on the floor. It was flat and edgy.

The killer plunged head-on and was at her neck. Lucy, fearing for life, jammed the scissors into the killer's neck with whatever strength fear had in store for her. She took it out and jammed it in again until the end-of-all-things came for him too.

Lucy stood in the midst of the bloodshed and felt nothing again. She ran out of the house with her bloodied dress, with no knowledge of where she was going. She just ran. She ran the distance of two small towns that night and fainted somewhere.

Lucy woke up in a comfy bed, warm and feathery unlike anything she had felt before. She spied some movement across the large room and noticed a woman in a nurse's attire running to fetch the master of the house. This master of the house was none other than a soldier. He walked into the room steadily with all the authority he could command; his wife, two children and some other subordinates.

The sight of men gathered at once reenacted her recent trauma. Lucy was shaking uncontrollably on the bed. The men tried to hold her down but it was fight or flight for the dainty girl. The soldier's wife has to step in as she figured the girl needed a soft embrace.

The struggling girl gave in and her body did too. She slept like she would never wake up again. The soldier quickly assessed the situation and declared that no man enters the room without permission and with that he left with everyone except his wife and daughter who stayed behind to help her mother.

It took Lucy six months to utter a word, a year before she got over her fear of men. She was indifferent to everything, nothing bothered her or maybe she just didn't show it. It seems she was still holding on to her trauma.

With all that, she became a robot. She never asked questions and followed instructions well. This made the soldier, now her adoptive father, decide to draft her into the army to hone this rare gift, the gift of submission.

Melanie stubbed her toe and snapped Lucy out of her flashback.
