Time passed… minutes… hours… he didn't know. The only thing he knew was that the itchiness on his body's pores were slowly dying out.
Although it was still a little itchy, it wasn't as intense as earlier, making him satisfied with this session. He still had a long way to go but at least there was progress.
Progress was important no matter how little it was because only then will one have the motivation to continue the discipline.
Although he wouldn't really stop, there's no doubt that without seeing progress, his mood will be quite bad but now, just at the first day of trying to refine the physical body's pores, he had made significant progress.
The goosebumps-like itchy feelings began to subside but at this moment, a familiar voice, and a pat on the shoulder, jolted his eyes awake.
In front of him was Zhao Feng who had an apologetic smile, "Tian Ye, did I disturb you again? Sorry, it's just that it's already night time, you've already skipped lunch, will you skip dinner too?"
Tian Ye soon realized that it was already nighttime, and even the windows that were closed by the curtains that were originally emitting light on the sides due to the brightness of the sun outside had stopped.
He also saw that a candle lamp was also opened within the room, looking at Zhao Feng who was in front of him, he smiled and replied, rubbing his stomach, "Thanks for waking me up, if you didn't I might not have eaten anything. I didn't feel hungry a while ago but now I do."
One of the two roommates, along with them, looked at Tian Ye in curiosity with a mix of shock, "Tian Ye, did you already learn how to sense and absorb spiritual qi? I read the book lightly that you have to take it easy or else you'd damage your pathway."
Although he was the same age as them, he had a scholarly vibe to him and had a lean figure.
If it was in the modern world, his previous life, he would have been called a nerd.
Turning his gaze to him, Tian Ye agreed, "I know, I've finished reading it this morning, you're right, you have to take it slow or else you'll make irreversible mistakes."
Zhao Feng also looked at Tian Ye in shock, "Did you really already learn how to absorb spiritual qi?!"
Tian Ye explained as he shook his head, "Although I did learn how to absorb it, you can't absorb it so easily, you have to refine it slowly starting from your pores, veins, and lastly the roots turning them into spiritual pores, spiritual veins, and spiritual roots.. I now know why most of the other servants failed or faced a backlash in their youth causing their mortal pathway to be damaged. It has to become a spiritual pathway first."
"Are you telling the truth?" The scholarly child asked solemnly with a hint of excitement.
Tian Ye smiled as he nodded.
The scholarly child sat down beside Tian Ye's bed and asked, "Can you explain so I don't fail?"
This scholarly child's name was Sun He, he was also 5 years old, the same as them and was one of the orphaned children within the orphanage.
Tian Ye had always known that this child pursued knowledge and had no doubt that as long as there weren't any accidents, he would be able to make it and become a cultivator who will live for a long time.
So he explained, "You should know what a meditative state is, right?"
"Yes, a meditative state is a state in which the body and mind is completely relaxed." Sun He answered.
Tian Ye then continued with a nod, "When you follow the breathing method written in the [Qi Refining Manual], you'll sooner or later enter this state when you've gotten used to it. Due to the instinctive thoughts, it's easy to suddenly absorb spiritual qi within the body unconsciously so one has to program the mind to instinctively only try to refine which one they had to first. So the method I thought of is a chanting method."
Sun He then nodded in understanding, "I see… if one has a chanting method, then memorized this chanting method, one will have the ability to unconsciously hypnotize oneself even if they're not aware of it."
Hearing Sun He's words of understanding, Tian Ye couldn't help but grin. These were the children he liked to teach, the smart ones, since it wasn't a hassle.
Zhao Feng looked at the remaining roommates besides Tian Ye and Sun He, after looking at each other's eyes they both shook their heads, they couldn't understand.
If anything, they thought that Tian Ye and Sun He were weird.
Tian Ye who saw Zhao Feng and the other child's confusion, he chuckled as he stood up, "You don't need to understand, you just need to memorize what I'll give you later, I told you I'll help you become a cultivator, so I'll help you. You don't have to worry so much, Zhao Feng."
"Thanks, Tian Ye." Zhao Feng also laughed lightly but a hint of seriousness was visible in his eyes.
The other child, the one who had a lean figure as well but looked quite weak, couldn't help but stare at Tian Ye as if shy to ask.
Of course, this didn't escape Tian Ye's eyes and said, "I'll teach you too, you don't have to worry as for Sun He, although you don't need my teachings, you want a copy right?"
Sun He was contemplating as he sat on the bed, was awoken by Tian Ye's words and nodded with a slight smile, "Yeah."
Leading the way to the outside, Tian Ye said, "Let's go eat first Zhao Feng, Sun He, and Yang Wei. I'll give you the copies tomorrow, I already have the basic idea of the chants."
The three children nodded and followed Tian Ye to the cafeteria to eat.
After they finished eating, Tian Ye sat on the table with a pen made out of feather, and ink in a container. There was also a coarse paper with the signs of being of poor quality.
Although they were poor as servants within the sect, the sect is at a higher level compared to the mortal world's servants after all so getting pieces of paper wasn't difficult.
Tian Ye saw that Zhao Feng, Sun He, and Yang Wei sitting around the table with a hint of sleepiness and couldn't help but chuckle, "You can go sleep first, I can do this alone, when I'm done I'm gonna be cultivating anyways so I won't feel to tired. Although sleeping can't be compared to sleeping in terms of relaxed state, it's still quite similar."
"Sorry, Tian Ye, we can't help you much." Zhao Feng said meanwhile Sun He and Yang Wei smiled apologetically to add to Zhao Feng's words.
"It's fine, it's fine, you can owe me one. Go to sleep first, I'll leave the chant on the table." Tian Ye as he began to write slowly on the pieces of paper on the table.
The three children didn't say anymore and went back to bed looking at Tian Ye gratefully as he wrote down his findings.
A few moments later, the three children fell asleep and Tian Ye was deep within his thoughts, 'Although I'm writing hypnotic chants I also have to incorporate the breathing method written in the [Qi Refinement Manual].'
The breathing method written in the [Qi Refinement Manual] was a unique breathing technique that had a few seconds of inhaling, stalling, and exhaling in 5 instances.
The chants he would make will have four levels, one focused on refining the pores, then the veins, then the roots connected to the dantian, and finally absorbing spiritual qi to his dantian.
The only one he needed to make was the chants to refine the pores so it wasn't overly difficult.
He stopped writing and sat in a cross-legged position and began chanting the words he had thought of. He failed a few times to align with the first instance of unique breathing, but succeeded after a few more times of trying.
Each level had the same breathing method so it was quite easy to make. Since it had 5 instances, he was prepared to make 5 lines for each level.
After making the 5 lines of words for the first level, it was easy to make the chants for the next levels since all it needed was rewriting some words for it to fit the remaining veins, roots, and absorption to the dantian.
It doesn't really need a chant for the absorption to the dantian because the mortal pathway had already been turned to a spiritual pathway but it was just to help out the ones who aren't too smart like Zhao Feng and Yang Wei.
After an hour, he finished writing on three pieces of paper, then after reviewing, he killed the fire from the candle lamp, and sat down on top of his bed in a lotus position to continue refining his pores into spiritual pores.
