Chapter 26 - Will He Remember?
Chapter 026:Will He Remember?
The next morning, Su Mingxuan woke up feeling uncomfortable. Su Xiaomeng was clinging to him like an octopus, wrapped so tightly around his body that he couldn’t move. And as for what was making him uncomfortable… well, any guy would understand.
“Wake up,” Su Mingxuan patted her cheek gently.
“Mmm~~” Su Xiaomeng stirred slightly but quickly slipped back into sleep.
Seeing this, Su Mingxuan figured she must’ve been truly exhausted. After all, she’d been on a long flight yesterday. He left her be, quietly got dressed, and stepped out of the bedroom.
Despite being called a “small castle,” the place spanned thousands of square meters. One of the annoyances he faced daily was the sheer distance from his bedroom to the dining room. Every morning, it felt like a hike just to get breakfast.
“Good morning, Young Master Su,” the maids greeted him one after another along the way.
Su Mingxuan nodded slightly in response. He wasn’t particularly warm or cold to them — just appropriately distant.
As he sat down in the dining room, his phone rang. Glancing at the screen, he saw it was an unfamiliar number. Frowning slightly, he still chose to answer. “Who is this?”
“Is this… Young Master Su?” came a melodious voice from the other end.
“Yeah,” Su Mingxuan replied flatly as he reached for a slice of buttered toast, chewing leisurely. His breakfast wasn’t lavish, but it was balanced and well-prepared.
“Guess who I am?” the woman’s voice took on a playful tone.
Click.
Su Mingxuan hung up without hesitation. Talk straight or don’t talk at all. He had no interest in playing such pointless games.
Seconds later, the phone rang again. Same number.
“You’ve got five seconds to introduce yourself,” Su Mingxuan said as he picked up again, his voice cool and devoid of patience.
“It’s me… An Mushui,” the voice quickly responded, this time sounding a bit aggrieved.
Su Mingxuan paused. “Oh, President An. You should’ve said so earlier. I thought it was someone trying to be funny.”
An Mushui, silent for a beat, felt her mood sink further. She had thought maybe he’d recognize her voice. But instead, he hung up on her — so casually. The disappointment stung more than she expected.
“I had to beg Jiang Ting for your number,” she said softly. “I just wanted to joke a little…”
“Sorry about that,” Su Mingxuan chuckled lightly. “If I knew it was you, maybe I’d have played along.”
An Mushui clenched her teeth. That sounded so perfunctory. Did she really have that little presence in his eyes?
“Well… thank you for picking up,” she said, feeling a little disheartened. She started to wonder if her charm only worked on other men. Why was Su Mingxuan completely immune?
“So, what did you call for?” Su Mingxuan poured himself a glass of milk and took a slow sip.
Getting to the point, An Mushui’s tone turned more professional. “About the investment — Assistant Jiang has already finished all preparations. We’re just waiting on your signature. Since the investor is you, we need your personal sign-off.”
Naturally, a contract of this size couldn’t be finalized without his presence.
“So you want me to come to your office again? Last time I ended up getting blocked in the underground parking lot,” Su Mingxuan replied with a faint smile.
“Uh…” An Mushui had no idea what he was referring to so he assumed he meant traffic.
“How about we meet at a restaurant instead? We can sign everything over a meal… and maybe make up for the lunch we missed last time?” she asked cautiously. She had no idea whether he’d accept. Every time she spoke with him, her usual confidence slipped away.
“Alright,” Su Mingxuan replied after finishing his milk. “Pick a place.”
“It’s called… Long Time No See,” she said, her voice softening. “It’s a music-themed restaurant I opened two years ago, by the seaside here in Tianhai. Let’s meet there for lunch.”
Su Mingxuan raised an eyebrow thinking that this woman had some taste after all. He chuckled. “Alright then. I’ll see you at Haojiubujian.”
“Mm… see you soon,” she said quietly before hanging up.
Her heart was beating fast.
Of course he wouldn’t remember… but they had met once before. Back then, just a brief encounter — yet when she saw him again at the banquet, her heart couldn’t help but flutter. She wasn’t the kind of woman who chased wealth or power. She just… wanted to say one thing to him.
“Long time no see.”
