Chapter 4: Chapter 4
She then quickly checks for his first template.
Character template: Pride (3%)

Classification: Homunculus
Tier: 8C
Strengths: Class 25
Speed: Supersonic
Abilities: Homunculus Constitution (mid-novice level), Darkness Manipulation (BLOCKED), Absorption (BLOCKED), Minor Possession (BLOCKED), Alchemy (BLOCKED).
What the Heck mean she's got a Homunculus constitution? Is she—
"King, Souma," a voice interrupts her thoughts. She looks up and sees the teacher looking around. Nervously, she raises her hand.
The teacher nods and writes something on her pad before saying with a drolling tone, "Your presentation now."
Shit. What does she say now? She remembers that in her body memories, she usually says the minimum to satisfy the teacher whenever the first classes of the year come up, and this question is asked, but…
"I'm Souma King," she starts haltingly, causing a couple of snickers from the jocks on the back, murmuring not so quietly 'we know that, dumbass.'
She doesn't bother turning around to glare; the teacher only needs a glance to shut them up. Instead, she takes a deep breath and decides to do something different for a change.
"I like... er, cooking?" she says less nervously, glancing at her status. However, she stops inventing more stuff just in time. Right, this is her body now. More confidently, she adds, "Also reading and drawing. I don't like olives or bullies."
This time she does glance at the jocks that usually jeer at her sitting on the back.
She then sits down. This must have been a normal reply for the others, but for her, it was something else. This is her body now, and she will live how she wants. However, she hopes her 'I don't like bullies' doesn't have the opposite effect and attracts bullies. After all, she's in Midtown High. The School Spider-Man used to go to was quite known for its bullies.
She has looked around since she remembers that the name of the high school is the one Spider-Man goes to, but she hasn't seen Holland, Garfield, or Maguire.
Anyway, after reading the definition of the Homunculus Constitution, she doesn't know what to feel. In one part, she has some of the passive regeneration they do, though it will cost stamina instead of souls (as she was born with one). The downside is that if she wants to be immortal or if some of her injuries are too severe, she will have to consume souls.
Not counting that she is also part hollow, that will give her certain urges.
Shit.
.
It's not until classes are over that she remembers how much she hated them. She knows most of it, though maybe she'll study more to remember some minor details. She ignores the bus, the stink still too fresh on her mind, preferring to jog to the foster house instead. After less than ten minutes, she runs. The feeling of the wind on her face is heavenly and how her legs move is just nice, borderline fantastic. She wants to jump, laugh, and kick in the air. Do splits—just have fun and share her good mood with others. Mashiro's antics are probably bleeding into her.
Since she saw the template, she has been feeling so happy. She also, and this she assumes is some of Pride's mind, prefers to be under the shadows. She feels more secure under them.
When he buys a newspaper, she's happy to find out it's September 2006. If she's not mistaken, she has from one to two years until Iron Man and the Hulk, and 'The Avengers' doesn't start until 2012.
However, she really needs to do a timeline of all the events she remembers.
Also, she must familiarize herself with her new powers, which means training. It's good she's finally reached her current home. And she's not even sweating!
She first goes to the kitchen, not surprised to find no one. At this time, Maria gossips with the neighbors and won't be back until some time has passed. Since she started cooking, she has been given a free kitchen range. Jennifer is still outside with friends and won't be until later so she probably has one hour before the other kids are back, and she has to start cooking dinner.
After making sure no one is there, she goes to her bedroom. She checks once again her abilities and sees that Hakuda and Homunculus Constitution are at the beginner level while Reiatsu's manipulation is at the novice level.
From their description, Hakuda is hand-to-hand combat, while reiatsu manipulation is anything related to reiatsu. It even says her strength, which, embarrassingly enough, is low.
She revises the recent memories she's gained from Mashiro, and they are all about the six years of the Academy, which makes her understand why Hakuda is a beginner and not a novice. This girl could pack a punch! Or a kick, in this case.
She could search for a Taekwondo dojo around her house to search for sparring partners. Maybe Capoeira, too. She has a bit of pocket money as she doesn't spend it like the others do in magazines and clothes, but maybe getting used to the training she has from Mashiro's memories is better.
She tries equipping the Double Gold Spandex and is glad to see it hidden beneath her pants. She has to lift his pants mid-thigh for them to transform and when they do, she's got to admit they are cool scythes. Black with gold accents.
She'll wear them just in case, but she hopes, he really, really hopes, she never gets to use them. She gives them a couple of practice swings, and while she cuts herself a little, it's nothing serious, thanks to the Homunculus Constitution. After all, she will have to receive injuries and heal to improve, which, given the training she will undergo, will be easy enough.
While cleaning the blood from the small cut, she asks the System more questions, 'What other function does the system have?'
'The system only has the 'Wheel' and 'Status' functions.'
'So, no inventory?'
'The system can only keep system-related items inside its inventory.'
So she can't simply equip her regular clothes or things like that? Shame.
Well, it's time to try some more things up.
