Chapter 15: Chapter 15: Unleashed Fury

---

The Moment Everything Shattered

Gwen's breath hitched.

Clark wasn't moving.

The bullet had torn through his body, his eyes dull, his once-cocky smirk replaced with lifeless silence. His head lolled to the side.

"No…" Gwen whispered, her voice shaking. "No, no, no…"

The world around her blurred. The distant sounds of screaming civilians, the flickering streetlights, the metallic stench of blood—all of it felt unreal.

But the terrorist standing before her? The one who had just shot Clark?

He was real.

And he was aiming his gun at her next.

Gwen barely had time to react. The gunman's lips curled into a twisted grin, his finger tightening on the trigger.

Then she heard it.

A hissing sound.

Like the air itself was being torn apart.

The gunman hesitated, his grip faltering as a dark shadow loomed over them.

A figure hovered above, her long red cloak billowing in the night wind. Blonde hair, glowing eyes, rage personified.

Kara.

She descended like a vengeful goddess, her boots hitting the ground with a deafening THUD.

The terrorists turned their guns toward her.

They never stood a chance.

---

A Few Moments Earlier…

Kara sat beside Natasha, half-listening as the redhead talked about some stupid school event.

It didn't matter.

None of it mattered.

Because the moment Clark's body hit the ground, she felt it.

An unnatural stillness gripped her chest. Her heart stopped, her hands trembled, her breath came out in a sharp gasp.

"No…" she whispered, standing up so fast her chair crashed behind her.

Natasha blinked. "Kara?"

But Kara wasn't listening. She closed her eyes, her enhanced hearing expanding outward, zooming through the town, scanning through thousands of heartbeats—until she found his.

Weak. Fading.

And then—

Gunfire. Screaming.

Kara's eyes snapped open, and for the first time in her life, she didn't think.

She just acted.

With a burst of wind, she shot into the sky, her body cutting through the night like a missile.

Natasha stumbled back, watching Kara disappear.

Her mind raced.

Kara had never been this reckless. Not once. She was always careful. Always paranoid about revealing herself.

If she had just taken off like that…

Something had gone horribly wrong.

Natasha didn't hesitate. She pulled out a burner phone and dialed the only number that mattered.

"Director Fury," she said, voice urgent. "Something's happening."

---

Unleashing Hell

The terrorists barely had time to process what was happening before Kara moved.

She grabbed the nearest man by the throat, her fingers tightening like a steel vice. The man gasped, clawing at her arm, but Kara's grip was unyielding.

Her eyes burned red-hot.

Then, with a scream of pure rage, she incinerated him on the spot.

The remaining two men staggered back, pure terror flooding their eyes.

"Monster…!" one of them choked out.

Kara turned to him, her glowing gaze promising death.

With a flick of her wrist, she crushed his gun in midair, then blasted him apart with a single shot of heat vision.

The last terrorist fell to his knees, dropping his weapon. "P-please—"

Kara didn't hear him.

She didn't care.

In a blur, she closed the distance, grabbed his skull—

And snapped his neck.

Silence.

The only sound left was Gwen's ragged breathing.

She was shaking.

Kara's burning gaze finally landed on her—then on Clark's unconscious body lying in a pool of his own blood.

In an instant, all of her anger dissolved into terror.

"Clark," Kara whispered. She dropped to her knees, hands shaking as she touched his face.

He was cold.

She pressed her ear to his chest. His heartbeat was faint.

Too faint.

Panic surged through her veins.

Without a second thought, she lifted him into her arms and shot into the sky.

The Race Against Time

Gwen could only stare, still frozen in shock.

One second, Kara was there—then she was gone, disappearing into the night with Clark.

It all felt like a nightmare.

Her boyfriend just got shot.

An alien girl just murdered three men like they were nothing.

And now she was standing alone, covered in blood, with nothing but the distant sound of sirens growing closer.

She fell to her knees, trembling.

Then, finally—

She screamed.

SHIELD Takes Notice

Location: SHIELD Headquarters

Nick Fury stood in his office, arms crossed, staring at the urgent report Natasha had just sent.

His expression was unreadable.

But deep down?

He knew.

The world had just changed.

Forever.
