Chapter 29: Touch it!
Violet had no idea when she fell asleep, but she knew the exact moment she was startled awake as she heard a loud noise that sent her scrambling awake and looking around to ensure her safety.
But she had just fully opened her eyes when she froze, alarmed by the sight in front of her as she finally realized that Cain was no longer lying beside her.
In front of her was a beast with dark fur and four legs that looked extremely like a wolf but one that was three sizes bigger. It had been slowly slashing its long claws against the wall when it froze almost like it sensed that it was being watched, turning its gaze to look at Violet, who clenched the sheets hard, prepared to scramble back and put as much distance between her and the beast.
Yet, watching it intensely, she was surprised to see that not only did it not move from where it stood but continued watching her. The one thing that stood apart from the last time she saw it was the air around it, which seemed much calmer. Its eyes remained red, but they lacked the cruelty and violence she had previously seen when she stared at it.
It stood watching her for a bit longer before it turned around and continued slashing the walls with its claws, leaving huge dents in the walls and roaring as loud as it could intermittently in a way that scared Violet from how loud it was.
Still, she silently watched, taken aback a little when it suddenly stopped and slowly began to make its way toward her. Violet was just about to move away when the beast dived right into the bed right beside her, its weight heavy enough to break the bed and stun her as she felt her body sink down as it broke.
But that had just happened when she heard what sounded like the cracking of bones as she watched as the beast slowly transformed into a human, both in awe, shock, and dismay. Watching Cain sink into the bed with a weary look in his eyes but otherwise nothing else that made him look different except for how completely naked he was.
Violet noticed, and yet, her eyes couldn't help but look a little long at his abs and chest muscles, surprised to realize that it was something she liked, cheeks becoming redder as she wondered how it would feel to touch them.
It wasn't until she heard Cain speak that she was thrown out of her dreamy state. "You blush a lot for a man!" he said, his eyes fixed on Violet with a smirk that only made her cheeks grow even more inflamed than before as he stared intensely at her, his eyes roving through her face to her body.
"I-I don't have muscles!" Violet stammered to find an explanation to replace the apology she had been about to give, even as she felt Cain settle on the bed with a calm look on his face, not seeing a need to drape a robe on his body as he continued to speak.
"Yes, you look too skinny," he replied, even as Violet watched in horror as he stretched his hand to touch and poke her stomach, his expression still as cold as usual, even though his eyes seemed to take on a more curious glint than before.
"Your stomach feels soft! Take off your shirt!" an order that made Violet forget to breathe, as her eyes widened as she stared at Cain like he had just asked her to cut off her hand.
"My Lord! Why would you--" never had she questioned him, but she couldn't resist, only to be interrupted before she could finish by Cain, who spoke in a slightly more impatient tone than before.
"I want to see if indeed you have no muscles!" he said, yet he could feel that it was something more. It was something that had been slowly grating on his nerves, a feeling he was yet to understand every time he saw the man sitting in front of him.
A feeling he was yet to conclude whether he wanted it to end or would prefer to completely ensure it didn't continue.
Violet vigorously wanted to argue, to tell him that there was no reason for him to do such a thing, but she was a servant, and the last thing she wanted to do was to piss off the man who had only a second ago turned into a beast.
Slowly, she unbuckled the buttons of her shirt, just enough to reveal a bit of her stomach, feeling her entire face burn as she watched Cain reach forward to touch her belly, his palm snaking into her shirt as he placed it against her stomach, leaving it there as he focused his gaze on the same spot.
"They're indeed soft!" he said, with a slight frown appearing on his usually blank face, one that worried her but not as much as his hands snaking up her shirt inch by inch, as she heard the sound of her heart thumping in her chest like a siren warning her of consequences if he went any further.
With a rush and flurry of movements, Violet jerked back even as she stuttered, trying to think of the best way to stop him from being interested in her very normal stomach.
"I-I'm sure yours feels very different. Can I touch it?" she asked, fully expecting the man who got angry at the drop of a hat and killed people as easily as it was to breathe to say no.
To cast a look of annoyance upon her, glare before getting off the bed as he reproached the fact that a servant like her would dare to say such a thing.
Which was why her jaw dropped open the second she heard him respond and watched him scoot closer to her.
"Go ahead!" he said, with his expression still as cold and neutral as before, even as she felt her entire body heat up from the tips of her hair to the heel of her toe.
