Chapter 20: Greetings from Lord Eldric
Ravon patiently waited until Cain was completely out of sight before beckoning Violet to move closer. The servants he brought with him had already begun moving around the room to clean it. Doing their best to collectively work as hard as they could, considering they were in Cain's wing of the mansion.
Violet moved closer, until she stood right in front of Ravon who silently glided his gaze over her before he began to speak with a stony expression on his face.
"Where is the empty bottle?" he asked in a low tone with a pissed off expression on his face. Trying not to escalate the situation in a way that would draw attention to their conversation.
"The bottle?" Violet asked with a slightly confused look on her face even as her heart hammered in her chest, terrified!
How could she forget the way she had broken into Ravon's office and stolen from him, convinced that he found out and simply trying to manipulate her to confess.
But her words only seemed to tick him off even more, as his expression became much fouler and his glare became more intense.
"The medicine bottle!" he growled under his breath, taking a menacing step closer to her almost like he was about to hit her, in a way that dangerously reminded her of her father.
"Where is it!" he snapped and honestly Violet's fear only worsened when she realized that not only had Cain not taken it, she also had no idea of where it could possibly be.
"He took it right?" Ravon asked in a tone that promised nothing but pain if the answer he got wasn't the answer he was looking for.
"Ye-yes! I threw it away, I didn't think you would ask for it!" Violet responded expecting Ravon to finally let it go only to watch him double down even more.
"Get it!" He ordered even as he turned around to leave. "I want to see it by tonight!" he said even as he walked out of the doors of the room in a rush of anger.
Ravon didn't know exactly what was wrong but he could tell that something had definitely changed even if he couldn't put his fingers on it.
It didn't help that he had gone back to his office the night before and realized that the bottle he had kept was missing, which had been the original compared to the watered down version he had given Violet to give Cain.
Ravon didn't spare a glance at anyone he passed as he headed back to his office, intent on finishing some work when he suddenly changed direction and instead, headed out of the mansion.
He got into his car, and gave the driver the address he needed to go, which was a bar he frequented often. He didn't care that it was still early in the morning since it didn;t matter to him.
"Get me my usual!" he ordered as he dropped into a couch, even as he saw a woman approach him from the side, falling into his lap the very next second as she splayed herself over him.
"I heard you were around! You seem down!" she whispered in his ears, her lips gliding against the edges of his lobes as she breathed against the nape of his neck.
The room they were in was completely private and there was no reason for her to whisper which meant that she did it simply to flirt better.
"Louise! It's too early to be teased by you!"
"But you like it when I tease you!" she responded, lowering her head onto his shoulders and leaning her body in until her breast fully rested on his chest.
"I can make you forget all your troubles!' she said, confidently in a way that showed that she meant every word.
"What I have is not that kind of trouble!" Ravon rasped as he took a deep gulp out of the glass of wine he had previously poured for himself.
"Your boss is giving you troubles! That's bad!" she sighed even as she simply continued to rest against him without doing anything else, waiting for him to open up which he finally did.
"Worse! I think there's something different about him!" Ravon responded. Louise was someone he had picked out of the gutter himself and helped, just to ensure her loyalties would completely belong to him so he had no issues confessing some of his troubles to her.
"Different?"
"His uncle hangs a sword over my head and my family just to keep me in line and watch his every step, but don't you think I should have a little power of my own?" Ravon asked with a sly smile on his face as he spoke.
"Why should Lord Eldric be the only one to control the ravage beast? I've been saving enough bottles so soon, Cain wouldn''t need him anymore once I'm able to get the details of the witch who makes it?"
"Really?" Louise asked, her eyes lightening up as she closely listened to Ravon, already aware of the details of what he was talking about considering how many times he had spoken about his plans.
'I don't mind! He pays a lot and he's my patron. I live a pretty good life. If he wants to ramble on then he can do so for as long as he likes!' Louise thought to herself as she leaned closer into him and heard Ravon continue to speak.
"I'm just tired of being so powerless. You'll think that as a vice of the Lord of one of the ten werewolf districts, I would actually get the respect I deserve, yet I can't help but feel like I'm just rotting away," he continued with a loud sigh about to pour himself another glass, when Louise beat him to it , raising the cup to his lips the second she was done pouring.
"Lord Ravon!" she whispered in his ears the second he was done drinking, taking the glass from him and placing it back on the table even as they stuck closely to each other in the dark private section of the bar they sat in.
"It's early! I think doing it here would be even more exciting!" convinced that with Ravon's status, the club owner wouldn't so much as blink an eye.
Ravon hesitated ever so slightly before he leaned his face closer and began to voraciously kiss her, intent on swallowing her whole. His lower body heated up as Louise began to grind against him.
By the time he was done, he left the club with a huge smile on his face, having been thoroughly satisfied. Going as far as to get a cup of coffee first before heading back to the mansion.
However, he had just gotten into the car about to slam the door closed when someone dashing by on a bike suddenly tossed a box right into him, to his immense surprise. Ravon waved it off , even as his muscled driver asked for permission to chase after him.
Instead Ravon slowly opened the box, confident that it had been meant for him, and wary considering the way the message had been sent.
But he was yet to open it up when he caught the whiff of blood, only to see two well manicured fingers the second he did with a bloody piece of paper squeezed in.
Ravon grit his teeth tight enough to almost break a tooth as he slowly unfurled the piece of paper.
{Greetings from Louise! The wine was good? You tampered with the potions!} but he was barely done reading when he coughed, watching blood spray out of his mouth even as he hurriedly ordered his driver to head back to the mansion.
He would survive since it was merely a warning, yet he couldn't help the resentment he felt towards the sender whom he was sure was no one else but Lord Eldric.
He didn't care for her but at the same time, his eyes blazed with anger at the realization that Louise would never get her fingers back and he could never look at her the same way again.
'Lord Eldric! You'll regret this! One day, I'll make you regret this! his fists clenched, even as he didn't dare to say the words out loud.
