Chapter 13: Napua's anger (2)
They shielded their eyes, momentarily blinded by the intense light. Evelyn's white wolf, now fully emerged, stood tall and proud, its fur shining like diamonds in the radiant light. The air was filled with an otherworldly energy, as if the very presence of the wolf was purifying the space.
Evelyn's eyes, now fully transformed, gleamed with a fierce inner light, as if she was channeling the power of the moon itself. The wolf's gaze fixed on the three men, and they knew they were in the presence of something ancient, powerful, and wild, which their wolves didn't dare to face.
'I am Napua! No man touches us without our consent!'
Just after she mindlinked them, she vanished from her spot, and in a blink of an eye, was right in Ryder's face. Before he could process what was happening, talk more of dodging, the wolf's fang had sunk deep into his neck and bit off a large chunk of flesh.
Fresh blood spewed into Napua's glowing fur, dying it red. The wolf didn't hop down, but instead, jumped onto Thane, who's spirit seemed to have flown out of him. Her claws shot forward and stabbed straight into the middle of his throat, forcefully yanking out his windpipe, silencing his terrified screams...before he could let out any.
Thane's body went limp, his eyes frozen in a permanent state of horror. Napua turned to face Kael, who was paralyzed with fear.
He tried to speak, but his voice was barely a whisper. "P-please...don't kill me..."
Napua took a step closer to Kael, her claws still dripping with Thane's blood. Then, she transformed back to Evelyn, but with elongated nails and fur. The ethereal light still surrounded her, bright as ever.
"You should have listened," Evelyn whispered calmly, sending chills down the Kael's spine. Her voice was devoid of her usual naivety. "You should have respected my boundaries."
Kael's eyes went wide as Napua's claws reached out, and he knew he was about to meet the same fate as his friends…
Just as she was about to touch him, he suddenly transformed into his big grey wolf, that was bigger than Napua, hoping to fight back.
But just as he pounced forward, Evelyn ruthlessly kicked him squarely in the chest, sending Kael's massive grey wolf form flying backward. He crashed into the door with a loud thud, the sound of splintering wood and crumbling plaster filling the air.
He and his friends were just shifters without abilities, so that kick was a huge blow for him.
Kael struggled to get back to his feet, but Evelyn was relentless. She shot forward with her claws, and dug right through his thick fur, pulling out his bloody heart, and leaving a ghastly hole that seemed to stare like an empty eye socket.
'I hate when weaklings challenge me,' Napua hissed inside of Evelyn's mind.
Kael finally regretted it. He's bullied Evelyn all her life, but had never went for her body. If he had known, he wouldn't have listened to that person. But there was no medicine for regrets.
His body went limp, his eyes frozen in a permanent expression of shock and terror, as he gave up the ghost.
Evelyn stood over him, giving him a disgusting look, as she crushed his heart and threw the bloody mess on the bed.
With her nakedness covered in white fur that was dyed red, Evelyn stood in the pool of blood and gave her 'work of art' one last look before she strode out into the darkness, her bare feet making barely a sound on the cold stone floor.
Barak's breath caught in his throat as he watched the lady enveloped in white light, stepping out of the damaged cabin, with blood dripping down her claws. "S– she…what is she?"
"Primordial Wolf," Vlad blurted out, his eyes glued on the ethereal woman, who moved with a confident, purposeful stride. Her silver hair shone brightly, swaying in the wind.
Suddenly, she halted her step and looked behind her, but it was only a tree there. However, like a flash, she vanished from her spot and reappeared behind the tree.
Barak gasped at her speed. He only saw a flash of light!
Standing before a ghostly pale lady, Evelyn said casually. "You smell familiar…" she paused and tilted her head to the side. "Maria?"
Miranda's maid. The one who doused scalding water on her. The one who said she should be thankful that Miranda was kind…
Maria's legs gave way and she dropped to her knees, visibly shaking. "Pl - please, spare me, Evelyn. I'm - I'my very sorry."
"Sorry doesn't fix anything," Evelyn said coldly.
Before Maria could speak further, Evelyn lifted her hand and sliced through the air with her razor-sharp claws, and the next moment, Maria's right hand fell off from her shoulders.
"AHHHHH!"
Maria let out a blood-curdling scream that sent the birds soaring into the air. Her eyes widened in horror at the stump of her arm, blood gushing out in a torrent from the wound.
She stumbled backward, her healing powers couldn't keep up, blood trailed beside her, as she tried to escape from Evelyn, the monster.
But Evelyn didn't stop. She took little steps after her. "You should have been nice to me," Evelyn said calmly, her voice cold and detached.
Maria's screams grew louder, more frantic, as she ran while calling for help. Suddenly, she tripped over a branch and collapsed to the ground, her body shaking with agony.
Evelyn, who used to be timid, submissive, and kind, now seemed like a demon who had crawled out from the pit of hell.
It wasn't clear if she was totally taken over by Napua, or was too heartbroken, that her heart had turned to stone, fueled by a burning rage and a deep-seated desire for vengeance. Her eyes, once bright and full of life, now seemed to bore into those she looked at, filled with a malevolent intensity that made her enemies cower.
Barak's teeth could be heard chattering nervously in the background, a stark contrast to the alpha's calm demeanor.
"My Lord, what do we do? The pack members will be here soon." He was worried that Evelyn would be in trouble.
If his Alpha had saved her from the beginning, this wouldn't have happened.
"Alpha, the pack members are here!"
Barak was even more agitated than Evelyn, who was still toying with Maria.
"The more damage, the easier it would be to take her away," Vlad said calmly, watching the pack members who heard the commotion run over in their wolf forms.
