Match Made In Hell: Her Immortal Boyfriend

Chapter 16: On-Top

So here is the interesting gist you've all been waiting to hear. Demons as their names implied have been mankind's enemy ever since the saga of the forbidden fruit. The devils still wanted to show they could make mankind fall and fall so hard not to ever recover from their fall again.

Demons in their thousands were released to every part of the world daily. Lower demons. Possession doesn't really interest the more intelligent demons. The ones who represented the seven deadly sins and ruled over every administrative of Hell.

Azrael was born into the families that represented lust and ranked low but rose to be bold enough to sit on the very throne of Lucifer to rule Hell.

A human can be possessed either by the demon itself or shared of its demonic essence for two reasons; to promote sin and bring the morals of hell to earth and at the end of the day kill its host after being used to there's nothing left.

The government on earth funded as much exorcism centers as they could worldwide. Those knowledgeable in demonology and spirituality. As well as those scientific engineers who work hard to make things easier and faster.

DPB agents are deplored to every corner of the earth to pick up any human who shows vivid signs of demonic possession. And more than half of America's daily pick is being brought to Hell's paradise, in which their visitors would be handcuffed and quarantined for days in an underground base level facility under strict monitoring and assessment. Everything about both the victim and the entity in them would be studied to see if there would be need of an exorcism or the other option.

Once a victim could be saved through exorcism, they are then taken up to different levels and floors, have them settled in their highly monitored cells for their daily dose of exorcism. Once they are being delivered, they would be named as clean souls and taken to the secret floor to confirm if indeed the exorcism was a success and the demon was not just trying to deceive them. They are administered the sigil of protection, wiping their memory completely of all they went through under the oppression, before being given a new life and sent back to the world as a survivor.

The sigil was founded by an unknown organization which has spawned up different conspiracies around the globe. It can only protect you if you were previously oppressed by a demon before. It's useless against a demon trying to attack a host who hasn't been overpowered yet.

Era ran with all her might, Jude and a group falling several feet behind her as she pursued her visitor relentlessly.

Jude and the rest watched their boss run, impressed by how fit she was in comparison with them that do take their gym journey more serious than anything.

The demon would throw her head back various times to echo a deranged laugh. The feeling of being pursued by the very ones that wants to get rid of him was thrilling as well as fulfilling. He could make them run all day and night.

He could make them run non-stop, forever! Until they all run out of breaths and die to feed on their corpses.

Amelia looked over her shoulder to see the owner of this establishment hot on her trail, even if most of her people had already given up to catch their breaths half way.

The demon cocked an eyebrow at her, impressed at her level of endurance, and threw her a proud smile.

Era cursed as she leaned over a semicircular railing, watching Amelia jump off it to land right back on the first floor. She was breathing heavily as sweat poured down on her face like rain, chest heaving and trying to recover from that crazy distance she covered in a run. They were currently on the seventh floor. She would die if she should try to mimic the demon. She approached the nearest stairs and tried not to fall as she raced down it.

When she was back on the first floor, the demon was nowhere to be spotted. Era stared around confused and decided to search the entire floor to be sure that rascal wasn't hiding anywhere. The slight ding from a nearby elevator caught her attention, and the bastard waved cheerfully at her as the doors began to slid close.

Era banged, cursed and punched at the doors when she missed. This was her elevator that led all the way to her penthouse. She cursed and ran to the others to keep up, but they were not in service.

Her eyes began to tear up as she felt like she was slowly beginning to lose everything. If this visitor should escape and mingle with the outside world when not even going through any stage of deliverance, and the government should find out about it….

Era screamed while bunching her hands tight in her hair.

…she is as good as being cooked forever.

She ran back to the nearest stairs that could lead to a floor closest to her penthouse, and was crazy enough to want to climb that high after just surviving a marathon with an active demon.

''Ma'am wait!''

She paused after taking a few steps to see a young employee of hers calling out to her from a distance.

''Allow me thirty seconds to get the rest of the elevators working again!'' She pleaded before running back to get it done. Era rushed down the stairs to plant herself eagerly before an elevator.

She would fucking strangle that demon once she gets her hands on them both.

The girl was the one that has always admired how cool she thought her boss was. In less than thirty seconds, it was back online. Era didn't waste as much as a breath to get in and smashed the top floor button as quick as she could.

As the elevators slowly went up through the floors, she leaned on one of the transparent walls to finally relax to catch her breath.

All the people she called her team were all incompetent. She needs to fire most of them now, or they could all be the end of her.

Why was it only the visitors at the base level that always find a way of escaping? What exactly goes on down there when she was not there to supervise.

She didn't wait for the door to open fully before she was out of it, racing down her posh hallway of her penthouse with labored breaths. She thought of checking her penthouse first, but the door to access it was still locked. There was also no sign of a false entry.

Era stared around her crazily.

Where could that little rascal have gone to now?

She removed the rubber angrily, keeping her hair pinned up to tug at the strands as she began to lose it. Until the thought of a place she was yet to check occurred to her, and she was running down the hallways again.

The soft, cool breeze of the evening air blew her long hair in different directions as she stepped on their not so large rooftop. And Amelia was there at the edge, smiling down at her with the demonic look.

Era moved back to cover her mouth in disbelief. The demon still maintained that soft smile, even though any crazy move by her could have the host falling to her death.

''Ah, you've found me.'' It said more in that eerie voice that was far from being human. ''Wasn't that fun?''

Era didn't reply as she gazed at her visitor thinking of what to do next. Amelia then slowly turned around to stare at the big world which looked so little now so high that she could touch the sky and blow a kiss to heaven.

''I feel like I am on-top of the world and I never want this feeling to end.'' Amelia turned and their eyes locked. She smirked at the faint sigh of paranoia on the human's face and basked in it.

''Oh, don't be so dramatic. I am not going to fall down and kill myself. Like you wanted to do…many, many, many years ago.''

Era fell back in shock at the demon. No one knows about that. Not even her father.

''Oh, you can't recognize me again? Your dear imaginary friend you believed I was when you had no other friends you could play with. The one who watched over you and loved you right from your cradle. The one who witnessed your first victory at your dumb swimming interschool contest. The one who got hit right across by her father for rebelling against him and his dreams. The one who saw your dirty, little secret the day it rained cat and blood on the fifth of October. Earthly calendar.''

The haunting smile on the girl's face proved it to be true. It wasn't trying to deceive her.

''You had always been the human I had always wanted to possess and not this boring teenager. For some supernatural reasons, I could not. Same for other demons that tried their luck. I was so pained and angry that I suggested taking your life out of the frustration of not being able to own that beautiful body of yours. You obeyed like the good little dog you were and was spared by someone unexpected. I left angrily to possess this girl just to come back at you in the flesh.''

His words weren't making any damn sense to her.

She smiled down at her once more.

''Be ready as you pay me with every drop running through your veins for the time wasted obsessing over you, Era. You are mine to destroy.''

Amelia gasped like she had a seizure and fell off to roll on the floor unconscious. Era could not move as she stared at the unconscious form of the girl for the longest moments. The sounds of rushing footsteps made her to quickly wipe the tears streaming down her face as her lovely teams swooped in to help Amelia from the floor. Era quickly moved to lean on the railings to avoid everyone else. Until she felt a light tap on her shoulder, she sniffed and turned to see Stephanie staring at her with a bothered look.

She then pointed a small white perfumed envelope to her face. Era frowned and received the enveloped, wondering who it was from.

The face of the letter read in fine handwriting.

To my beloved wife that will be happy to read this.
