Master of Strange Dao

Chapter 113: The Arsonist Thief, Consequences of Recklessly Planting Flags (8.2k)_3

Yu Ziqing watched Lou Huai's weakened state, pondered for a moment, and then asked,

"Don't you Devils have a method to devour other Devils for quick advancement?"

"Of course, there is. Many Devils have grown stronger by devouring others," Lou Huai replied, shaking his head immediately after, "Humans and Devils, too, but I refuse to use such an Evil Dao. Devouring for advancement only increases Demonic Qi, but the aggressiveness and chaos grow as well. That is the path to self-destruction."

Every time Yu Ziqing heard Lou Huai speak of the righteous and evil paths, he felt somewhat speechless.

Just think, even a Devil knew not to touch the Evil Dao, yet some Cultivators dared to boldly walk it; it was truly inexplicable to him.

Seeing Lou Huai slightly weakened, offering the Heart Blood Heritage seemed to have taken a toll on him, so he thought he'd find a couple of Devils for Lou Huai to replenish himself.

Unexpectedly, Lou Huai refused to tread the evil path.

Such a firm will, to not walk the righteous path was indeed a pity.

"Then recover well first. In a few days, we'll go to the Abyss again. I need to catch a white sky Devil; otherwise, cultivation won't be as seamless."

The Secret Technique advanced rapidly. The Double-headed Black Snake that the Secret Technique morphed into had no Devil Thought, yet progressed swiftly.

Especially when paired with his strong Qi-Blood and the Golden Water Yin Escape, a positive cycle formed. Moreover, as his kidneys were continuously tempered, they grew stronger, reinforcing this cycle.

He found it increasingly difficult to control the Xin Metal Qi from entering the organs, and within a few months, he might lose control, with it naturally entering the organs.

Days later, Yu Ziqing, taking Lou Huai with him, quietly left, sneaking into the Abyss through the Abyssal Rift in Almsgiving Town.

"Wang Fugui, any idea where to find a white sky Devil?"

"I heard if you follow the rift path forward and cross the end, there are some white sky Devils there, though not many, and their strength is not weak..."

Yu Ziqing wanted to ask where he'd heard it from as everything seemed second-hand.

As Yu Ziqing departed, Wang Fugui added from behind,

"Master, be careful. Word is the Abyss has been unstable lately. Should we accompany you?"

"Forget it..."

Bringing hungry ghosts to attack other Devils would just be sparking a war; better to let those hungry ghosts grow more first. Though there were millions of hungry ghosts, they were still somewhat lacking compared to the vast Abyss filled with Devils.

Being provoked by others was not the same as having hungry ghosts actively provoke Devils.

The former would only result in other Devils watching, while the latter would make one wonder if these hungry ghosts, who devour Devil Thoughts, could no longer restrain themselves and were finally ready to hunt.

Yu Ziqing was there merely to catch a white sky Devil, to harvest a sliver of power as a seed, not to wage war.

Standing in place, Wang Fugui watched as Yu Ziqing's form disappeared, then returned to his little nook, listening intently.

As the strong wind blew through the Abyssal Rift, it seemed to carry countless whispers, which Wang Fugui continually listened to, attentive to every sound from all directions.

As a shrewd merchant, he was sensitive to changes and paid close attention to any rumors. Despite regaining some memory, he couldn't alter this habit.

He felt compelled to gather information in advance, listening to those rumors more attentively.

Their boss had entered the Abyss a second time—first for the Black Sky Devil, now for the white sky Devil—certainly, he would seek other Devils afterward.

If he could acquire detailed knowledge early on, perhaps even creating a map of Devil distributions within a hundred or even several thousand mile radius, he would surely gain importance.

Perhaps, like Miss Cece and Wu Shuangge, he might earn recognition and divine favor, able to walk the world in human form henceforth.

He stretched his neck slightly, trying to listen more carefully, his almost atrophied ears seemed to grow slightly larger under such a strong desire, and the whispering winds sounded clearer.

He lay there, head sticking out from the edge, continuously listening.

On the other side, Yu Ziqing had a Double-headed Black Snake coiled around his waist, his whole body enveloped in the aura of the Black Sky Devil. Beside him, Lou Huai had already dissolved his body, turning into an illusion accompanying Yu Ziqing.

The two journeyed across the desolate land, occasionally encountering some Devils, who at most glanced at them but paid no further attention.

After two days, they faintly heard a howling sound ahead, like a bellows or the golden wind sweeping through Yuan Magnetic Mountain.

Crossing a valley, they looked ahead and suddenly saw a rift appear, revealing a vast basin, over a thousand feet deep.

In the center of the basin lay the remnants of an unknown living being.

The remains were two to three hundred feet tall and dozens of miles wide, devoid of limbs and a head, leaving only the chest area. Its fur had almost vanished, but the original owner could be seen to be enormous with black bristles.

In that advanced part, the ribs rose up like mountains, but within them were two objects, like lungs forged of gold and silver.

As the two mountainous metal lungs rose and fell, they let out a bellow-like howling from the lung pipes.

The golden wind lung qi roared out, yet confined by the terrain, it only echoed within the basin.
