Chapter 23: Chapter 23: Haruto: Run, Cute Little Witness Cat
Kamishiro Rize was shocked but she then laughed wildly.
"It's great!! You can recover so quickly, I can savor you thoroughly when eating!!! Great! Great!"
Haruto merely glanced at Rize, it was just a test of a ghouls power, now their is no need to prolong this battle.
A white long sword appeared in Haruto's hand; the Dawn Divine Sword, the next moment, Haruto's figure disappeared in a flash leaving a blur of shadow in place.
Rize's eyes widened for a moment but she then launch her kagunes at him. But the cold white blade easily severed Kamishiro Rize's kagune.
The intense pain caused Rize to hesitate for a moment.
In an instant, Haruto's figure appeared before her.
With a simple, unadorned punch, he struck forward.
Although rinkaku kagune regenerated quickly, it still took a few seconds to grow back. Rize had no choice but to raise her arms to defend.
However, the force behind this punch was beyond her imagination.
Her arm fractured instantly.
Her entire body was sent flying by the overwhelming force, crashing into a nearby wall. With a loud bang, the cement and brick wall was smashed open, leaving a hole.
Kamishiro Rize's head was instantly bloodied.
Haruto, however, had no intention of showing mercy.
He grabbed both of her arms and exerted sudden force.
With a crisp snapping sound, Kamishiro Rize's arms twisted unnaturally, clearly broken and in an extremely severe manner.
With a swift kick, he also disabled her legs.
At this moment, Rize's kagune once again surged from her tailbone.
But with a simple swing of the Dawn Divine Sword, Haruto easily severed them. At some point, Haruto's eyes had turned blood-red.
Under the gaze of his Sharingan, the movements of the kagune seemed as slow as a snail.
Kamishiro Rize let out a scream of agony.
Pointing the Dawn Divine Sword at Rize's lower back, he decisively stabbed down.
Then, he cut open the skin and muscles. From within, Haruto located Rize's kakuhou and extracted it.
Kamishiro Rize let out a heart-wrenching wail.
(T/N: Ouch...)
Clearly, the pain of having her kakuhou removed far exceeded the pain of broken limbs. Before long, Rize ceased all resistance and fell unconscious.
The kakuhou was the essence of a ghoul's power, it would not regenerate in a short period. Storing the kakuhou away, this object held immense research value.
Haruto casually sat on Kamishiro Rize's body, took out his phone, and made a call.
"Send a team of armed personnel to my location for containment."
"Hello, Miss Hayasaka Ai, please come to my location to handle the scene."
After making the two calls, Haruto let out a breath.
He lifted the Dawn Divine Sword.
Its blade was stained with Kamishiro Rize's fresh blood.
Ghouls had the restriction of only being able to consume human flesh.
However, Haruto did not believe that the Blacklight Virus would inherit such a limitation after assimilating ghoul genes.
The essence of the Blacklight Virus was evolution, not simply absorbing all genetic traits. Thus, Haruto prepared to devour the ghoul genes.
At that moment, Haruto's movements suddenly halted.
He raised his head and looked toward the far end of the alley. There, a girl was peeking out.
A girl with long, straight black hair.
Their eyes met.
Haruto felt an intense headache. Why would there be a witness in a place like this?
Half an Hour Earlier
Yukinoshita Yukino.
The eldest daughter of the Yukinoshita family.
Although the Yukinoshita family was not among the Four Great Conglomerates, it was still a prestigious household in Japan.
Born into such a family, Yukinoshita Yukino possessed both the intellect and appearance befitting a high-class young lady.
She had a refined face, flawless white skin, long black hair draping over her shoulders, and a face so cute it felt criminal. Though her chest was as flat as the Kantō Plain, she had slender and well-proportioned limbs, a delicate waist, and a perfect figure.
Her gently flowing black hair, her translucent, exquisite skin, her bright eyes, and her thin cherry-colored lips—
just like her name, she was as unattainable as the snow beneath the sky, an existence only worthy of admiration.
Today, Yukinoshita Yukino wore a black evening gown.
The outfit accentuated her slender, well-proportioned figure, making her an absolute sight to behold. Coincidentally, Yukinoshita Yukino had just entered a prestigious high school this year.
She was in Chiba to attend a gathering of elite students to establish connections for her time at Sōbu High.
However, Yukinoshita Yukino struggled with social interactions.
Unlike her older sister, Yukinoshita Haruno, who could easily get along with people, she felt out of place at such gatherings.
Feeling overwhelmed, she eventually slipped away from the event without anyone noticing.
As she wandered through the streets of Chiba, she spotted a white cat near a small alley.
Known as the "cat encyclopedia" and a "cat lover extraordinaire," Yukinoshita Yukino was easily drawn to adorable felines.
After all, she was an extreme cat enthusiast.
Due to family restrictions, she couldn't keep a cat at home. So, she often spent time at pet shops playing with cats.
Now, seeing an adorable cat by the roadside, Yukinoshita Yukino couldn't resist.
"Meow, meow, meow."
She tried to coax the white cat, attempting to get closer.
However, the cat seemed wary and darted into the alley.
Yukinoshita Yukino followed after it.
Eventually, she caught the white cat in the alley and held it in her arms. Just as she was happily playing with the cat, a loud noise erupted from deep within the alley.
At the same time, a woman's wail echoed.
The cat in her arms instantly fluffed up in alarm. As if something terrifying lurked in the depths of the alley.
Yukinoshita Yukino herself also grew wary, glancing toward the alley's depths.
After a moment of hesitation, she decided to check out the situation.
Maybe someone needed help.
She would just take a quick look.
If she stayed quiet, she wouldn't be noticed.
Holding the cat, she tiptoed toward the alley's depths.
Eventually, as she peeked around a corner, she was greeted by a horrifying scene.
A young man was sitting on top of a purple-haired woman, bringing a sharp weapon to his lips.
The purple-haired woman lay on the ground, her limbs twisted, her life or death unknown.
Not far away, a half-eaten corpse lay in a gruesome state, as if devoured by an unknown creature.
Blood splattered the alley, the scene chaotic and monstrous.
This sight immediately reminded Yukinoshita Yukino of a deranged cannibal.
That young man looked like a real-life Hannibal Lecter.
No, he was even more terrifying.
What made Yukinoshita Yukino feel suffocated was the moment the young man lifted his head, locking eyes with her.
His eyes were a deep, bloodthirsty crimson.
Faced with this situation, Yukinoshita Yukino didn't hesitate.
She turned and sprinted away with all her might.
She absolutely could not let herself be caught by a cannibal!
