Chapter 10: Chapter 9: Shopping in the Modern World with Annie
A knock on the door snapped Annie out of her daze.
She quickly tidied her clothes before opening the door. Standing at the entrance, naturally, was Harutp.
"Yo, looks like you slept well."
Before Annie could say anything, she was pulled away. She was dragged to the dining table and pressed down onto a chair.
Haruto brought over a mirror and placed it on the table.
Then, he started brushing Annie's hair.
After a night of sleep, Annie's golden hair had fluffed up into a messy tangle.
A few stray strands of hair stubbornly stuck up, making her look unexpectedly cute.
Annie ran her fingers along the hem of her hoodie.
She didn't understand why Haruto was doing this for her.
She should have refused.
But… being cared for like this made her heart feel inexplicably warm.
Annie found herself unable to comprehend her own emotions.
Meanwhile, Haruto secretly smirked as he observed Annie's reaction.
Through the Blacklight Virus, he had gained access to Annie's memories. Naturally, he now understood her completely. This girl, though cold and distant on the surface, actually took every act of kindness to heart.
She longed to be cared for.
That was why she was so fixated on returning to her home in Marley to see her father. Even though that father of hers… well, it was complicated.
"I can do it myself," Annie muttered with a cold expression.
Her voice, however, was barely audible.
Haruto completely ignored her, pretending not to hear, as he continued speaking.
"Regarding the world of Titans, my plan is as follows. But first, let me fill you in on some intelligence…"
As he braided Annie's golden hair, Haruto shared secret knowledge about the Titan world.
Engrossed in the information, Annie let him do as he pleased.
By the time he finished styling her hair, Haruto had also brought over breakfast. Only after they finished eating did Haruto finally wrap up his briefing and explain his plan.
And that was just the short version, many details that didn't concern Annie were left out entirely.
After finishing his explanation, Haruto flipped his hand, producing the Absolute Contract Codex.
He turned to the final page of the contract and placed it in front of Annie.
The previous page was filled with unfair clauses. The signature line for the second party, however, was on the last page.
The level of deviousness was evident.
"If you agree with this plan, sign your name here," Haruto said with a solemn expression.
"Then, let's work together for the future of humanity."
Annie pondered in silence for a long time before nodding.
Though Haruto's plan was terrifying, after careful consideration, it did seem feasible.
She only needed to assist.
Thus, Annie signed her name on the contract.
Completely unaware that she had just sold herself to Haruto.
Haruto stored away the codex, grinning in satisfaction.
"I'm heading out to buy clothes and daily necessities. Annie, want to come along? It's a good chance to properly explore this world."
As he stood up, he extended the invitation.
Hearing about buying clothes, Annie instinctively lowered her gaze.
Hmm… Since the hoodie was quite baggy, when she looked down… she could see a breathtaking view.
Annie's face instantly turned red. Then, she nodded.
Thus, the two left the apartment and went shopping.
After stepping outside, Annie curiously glanced at the sketchbook in Haruto's hand.
It was an original manuscript of the Attack on Titan manga.
"Why are you bringing that with you?" Annie asked in confusion.
Following Annie's gaze, Haruto looked at the manuscript in his hand and replied,
"I'm going to submit it for publication. I need the manuscript fee to earn my first pot of gold—then I can use money to make more money…"
Annie's expression turned odd.
To her, this was priceless intelligence.
The future of her world.
Haruto, however, simply chuckled and playfully tapped her head with the rolled-up manuscript.
"These events will all become the past. Your world is going to take a different course. If you want to make a change, you have to look forward and let go of useless relics."
Annie said nothing more.
The two walked forward together.
Meanwhile, in the Apartment Next Door
In a second-floor room, Eriri was leaning against the window, eyes wide as she watched the scene.
"A girl!?"
"A girl just walked out of Haru's place!?"
"And they're talking and laughing, acting all close and intimate!!!"
Eriri let out a wail of despair.
How could the world be so cruel?!
The pain… the pain was unbearable!
Today's battle was Eriri's complete and utter defeat!
Unaware of his so-called "fake childhood friend's" despair, Haruto continued chatting with Annie.
They soon arrived at Chiba's busiest shopping district. Amidst the bustling crowd, Annie felt utterly out of place.
For Annie, a large crowd of pedestrians was dangerous.
Due to her wariness of the people around her, Annie gradually lagged behind, nearly losing contact with Haruto as the crowd threatened to separate them.
Haruto turned back and noticed Annie's uneasy state.
But he also understood that this kind of vigilance wasn't something that could be abandoned overnight.
So...
To avoid losing Annie, Haruto proactively reached out and held her hand.
(T/N: Smooth ass mf)
Surprisingly, Annie's palm was small and soft.
It wasn't covered in calluses from extensive training.
Perhaps this was one of the benefits of a Titan's regenerative abilities.
Annie's hand was grabbed, and she instinctively tried to struggle free. She pulled twice but couldn't break free.
Looking ahead at Haruto…
Annie suddenly stopped resisting.
Their fingers interlocked as they walked through the bustling streets, looking just like a couple.
There were many clothing stores in Chiba.
Haruto pulled Ani into a well-known women's clothing shop. A female store clerk quickly approached with a welcoming smile:
"Hello, how may I assist you?"
Haruto gently pushed Ani forward.
"Please help this girl pick out two to three outfits."
The store clerk immediately nodded with a smile.
Annie looked at the various outfits in the store, feeling a mix of curiosity and hesitation. Shopping wasn't something she had ever done before.
Fortunately, the store clerk guided her through it.
Meanwhile, HAruto watched Annie's reactions with amusement.
Hmm, why did he suddenly feel the strange joy of raising a daughter?
But at that moment, Haruto suddenly sensed that someone was watching him. He glanced toward the source of the gaze.
It was a blonde girl with a single ponytail tied to one side, wearing a cute outfit.
