"Controlling iron sand for attacks with this level of power—are you yesterday's runaway clone, or the original?"
Accelerator's expression changed as he watched Misaka Mikoto effortlessly slice the container in two.
Misaka Mikoto dispersed the electromagnetic chainsaw, transforming it into a storm of high-speed, vibrating iron sand that enveloped Accelerator from all directions. Simultaneously, she pulled out a coin and fired it at three times the speed of sound, unleashing her strongest move: the Railgun.
"Does it matter whether I'm the clone or the original? Why are you participating in these experiments, killing so many people? Don't you think you're being cruel?"
"You're not a clone. Even if yesterday's runaway was a clone, they didn't have power like this. You're the original."
Accelerator waved his hand, forcibly dispersing the energy in the iron sand. At the same time, his reflection ability activated, deflecting Misaka Mikoto's full-powered Railgun.
Confirming that his opponent wasn't a clone, he felt a sense of relief deep inside.
"Don't make me out to be so cruel. All I'm doing is handling a bunch of replicas that can be mass-produced at the press of a button."
"Even if they're replicas, they are living beings with flesh and blood!"
Having prior knowledge of Accelerator's abilities, Misaka Mikoto was shaken when her signature move failed but didn't lose focus. She immediately launched her next attack.
"Come forth, Thunder Titan!"
Violent electromagnetic forces erupted from her body, forcefully extracting iron sand and dust from the ground. Gradually, they formed a towering, terrifying titan of lightning over a hundred meters tall.
Inside the Thunder Titan, iron sand and dust constantly collided, generating a storm of electrical energy that raged within its massive form.
"This move could destroy a mountain. Face your judgment!"
Standing atop the Thunder Titan, Misaka Mikoto held Misaka 9982 in her arms and pointed down at Accelerator.
Seeing this, Accelerator covered his face and laughed maniacally.
"Judgment on me? Fine! These boring experiments are progressing too slowly anyway. Defeating you, the original, should speed things up significantly!"
He rose into the air with a gust of wind, spreading his arms wide.
"Let me see the power of your attack!"
"Take this!"
Misaka Mikoto unleashed all her electromagnetic power. The Thunder Titan's hands crackled with terrifying electricity, firing countless streams of iron sand straight at Accelerator.
It was essentially a supersized version of the Railgun.
"Not bad at all!"
Meanwhile, George, who was invisibly approaching Accelerator, couldn't help but marvel at Misaka Mikoto's Thunder Titan technique.
From the data on Misaka 9981, this move wasn't listed. It seemed to be a new technique Misaka Mikoto had developed based on her abilities.
In terms of power, George found it impressive. After all this was over, he decided he would ask Misaka Mikoto to teach him this move.
The massive supercharged Railgun struck Accelerator perfectly. Unfortunately, it couldn't break through his defenses and merely remained locked in a stalemate.
Clearly, Accelerator's defensive abilities were far stronger than Misaka Mikoto had anticipated.
Meanwhile, on the bridge near the dock, a van screeched to a halt. Four girls stepped out and walked to the center of the bridge.
"So this is the Railgun? Doesn't seem all that impressive."
The tallest among them, a brown-haired girl, sneered as she looked at Misaka Mikoto standing atop the Thunder Titan.
"It's all just for show," she said with a condescending smile.
This girl was Mugino Shizuri, another Level 5 esper known as "Meltdowner." Her ability allowed her to maintain electrons in their purest form, without letting them transform into particles or waves.
As someone who shared a similar electron manipulation ability with Misaka Mikoto, she was often compared to her. Ranking just below Misaka Mikoto fueled her resentment, and she had long disliked the Railgun, whom she had never even met.
"She could never compare to our queen, the strongest of ITEM!"
A petite blonde girl chuckled at her side.
However, another girl, wearing a hood, shook her head.
"She's up against Accelerator, the number one esper. It's best not to underestimate her."
"Enough," Mugino interrupted. "Our target this time is Clone 9981. Is she the injured one Misaka Mikoto is holding?"
She turned to the quiet black-haired girl beside her for confirmation.
The black-haired girl weakly shook her head.
"Based on the intel, that's Clone 9982. Clone 9981 seems to possess invisibility. I'm scanning for any other force fields in the vicinity."
She closed her eyes for a moment, then opened them and pointed behind Accelerator, where nothing seemed to be.
"There it is—an additional force field reaction!"
At that moment, Misaka Mikoto's electricity reserves ran low, and the continuous Super Electromagnetic Cannon came to an end. As Accelerator relaxed, preparing to mock her, George revealed himself and activated his magic.
"Spirit Extraction!"
The spell's magical waves bypassed Accelerator's reflection defenses and struck him directly, leaving a blissful smile on his face.
"Disable defenses," George commanded.
Obedient under the spell's influence, Accelerator deactivated his reflection ability and landed on the ground under George's control.
With his defenses down, George activated his ability, manipulating the surrounding iron sand into fine wires that pierced through Accelerator's body in multiple places, binding him tightly.
It was at that moment that Accelerator's eyes regained clarity.
The soul-controlling spell wasn't very effective against those with strong wills, and for a Level 5 esper like Accelerator—whose brain operated at an exceptional level—the effects were even weaker.
However, George had no intention of relying solely on the spell to maintain control over Accelerator.
"I wouldn't recommend using your powers," George warned coldly. "The wires have pierced several of your vital organs. If you attempt to manipulate them, you might die on the spot."
"You're not the original," Accelerator spat out a mouthful of blood and fixed his gaze on George, his pupils contracting sharply. "You're a clone too, aren't you?"
The real Misaka Mikoto had just dispersed the Thunder Titan and was being supported by the Clone 9982. So, naturally, this new figure—who had somehow bypassed his reflection defenses—had to be a clone.
"Correct," George replied nonchalantly. "I'm Clone 9981, the one who almost died at your hands last night."
Shrugging, George turned to the original Misaka Mikoto and asked, "How are you holding up?"
"My electricity reserves are drained, but with a night's rest, I'll recover," Misaka Mikoto replied, her voice weak as she nodded slightly. She still couldn't believe how powerful Clone 9981 had proven to be—managing to subdue Accelerator with an unknown method.
"This doesn't make sense," Accelerator muttered, his body trembling. He stared at George with wide eyes. "You're just a clone. How can you act so much like a normal human?"
He wasn't trembling because George had bypassed his reflection defenses. He was trembling because George—a mere clone—was indistinguishable from a regular human in both behavior and expression.
And if that was true...
Then what about the other clones he had killed?
The realization sent a chilling wave through Accelerator's mind.
