The next morning, after exchanging greetings with Professor X, George used Apparition to appear in front of Tony's mansion.
"Good morning, Mr. George. Mr. Stark is already waiting for you in the lab."
The camera at the entrance scanned George and Jarvis's voice echoed from the speakers, the iron gate slowly opening.
George nodded and walked into Tony's mansion once again.
Since the last incident when Obadiah and his mercenaries attacked the mansion and killed many of the bodyguards, Tony had stopped hiring any new security. His only driver and bodyguard, Happy, remained at Stark Tower as the head of security, primarily tasked with ensuring Pepper's safety.
In Tony's mind, if his enemies couldn't even handle him, then those bodyguards were just expendable lives.
After passing through the main hall, George arrived at the basement laboratory, where Tony was deeply focused on designing a new suit.
It had to be said, despite Tony being a notorious playboy and often carefree, he never slacked off when it came to his work. Even after a night of passion with one of Hollywood's most beautiful actresses, once he had a breakthrough idea, he would immediately get up and head to the lab.
"George, you're here. I've already made the five sets you asked for last night," Tony said, putting down the design sketches and pointing to a large box nearby.
George walked over and placed the various alloy wands into his own box. After a moment of thought, he asked Tony:
"Tony, now that you've handed the company over to Pepper, do you find yourself with more free time?"
"Yeah, a lot more. I think it's great—gives me more time to work on renewable energy, upgrade my suits, and so on."
Tony had his mechanical assistant, Bobo, pour him a glass of red wine. Finally, he didn't have to drink that terrible chlorophyll juice anymore. Since confirming his relationship with Pepper, Tony had stopped his womanizing ways, leaving the company's affairs to her. He only focused on his research and occasionally stepping in to take care of terrorists.
To be honest, sometimes he felt a little bored.
"How about occasionally coming to our school to teach the kids? You could be a part-time teacher. Logan's been talking about wanting to have a drink with you," George suggested.
Recently, George had been giving this idea some thought.
Thanos would definitely come to Earth with his cosmic army to collect the Infinity Stones. So, it seemed wise to start preparing in advance.
Nick Fury's idea of forming the Avengers to deal with potential crises wasn't a bad one. After all, if Earth was destroyed, everyone—George included, along with the teachers and students at his school—would be in trouble.
So, George had no intention of stopping the Avengers from forming, but he didn't want Fury or the government to control it. If they did, it was possible they might focus on dealing with him, an unrestrained individual, before even getting to Thanos.
He could gather these superheroes around himself and use them to face Thanos when the time came.
The reality was that when Thanos and his army attacked Earth, what role did the government play? What role did Nick Fury play? None, really. The only thing they did was use a pager to call Captain Marvel back, and that was only after the situation was already under control.
Right now was the perfect time. The school was recruiting teachers, and Captain America and Hulk had already joined. He had a good relationship with Tony, so he could bring him in too.
In a few days, he'd help Thor, and with most of the original Avengers on his side, he'd have a strong team ready.
Later on, he could recruit more students and teachers, train them well, and perhaps when Thanos came with his cosmic army, he wouldn't even need to step in. The teachers and students alone could defeat Thanos.
Actually, it didn't even have to be a big effort or take much time. Sometimes it was just about doing things when the opportunity arose.
"Logan wants to drink with me? Sure, I won't lose to him this time," Tony said, his face lighting up at George's suggestion. "But sending me to teach a bunch of kids? Is that really..."
Tony seemed intrigued by George's offer, but his pride made it hard for him to give an immediate answer. Despite his glamorous life, he didn't have many close friends.
Rhodey counted as one friend, Happy was half a friend, and Ethan, who had shared hardships with him, also counted as a friend. However, Rhodey had official duties and was rarely available to meet, Happy was assigned to protect Pepper, and Ethan had gone back to his hometown to help the poor with free medical care.
George had already considered both Logan and Tony as friends deep down.
But these two wouldn't share the location of the school with him, nor invite him to visit. It was clear they still had reservations about him, which left him with some lingering discomfort.
Now that George had invited him to be a part-time teacher, it meant that he trusted him completely, and with that, his doubts had disappeared.
"Don't you have any confidence?" George asked, deliberately provoking him.
Tony couldn't stand being insulted like this and immediately responded loudly:
"Who am I? I'm Tony Stark! I graduated from MIT with top honors at seventeen, I've given lectures at prestigious universities, and I've been to plenty of those—are you telling me I can't teach your school's kids?!"
"Well then, are you interested in coming to our school right now and having a look?" George shrugged.
Tony nodded eagerly.
"Let's go, right now."
Without hesitation, George grabbed Tony and used Apparition to bring him to the mutant school.
"I think next time, I'll just fly over in my suit instead," Tony said with a bit of dry heaving, clearly not fond of his first experience with Apparition. It felt like being squeezed through a rubber tube, and it was definitely uncomfortable.
"I'll send you the location later, and next time, you can just come by yourself. But remember to bring this," George said, tossing a small glass ball to Tony.
Tony caught the ball and examined it.
"What's this?"
"It's a ball with my energy inside. I've set up a special barrier around the school, and only those carrying this kind of ball can see the school and pass through the barrier," George explained, then led him on a tour of the school.
They hadn't walked far when they encountered Banner and Betty.
"Good morning, Banner and Betty! Did you sleep well last night?"
"Good morning, Principal! It's the first time I've slept so peacefully without worrying about turning into the Hulk," Banner replied with a smile.
"This is Banner and Betty, our school's new teachers. And this is Tony, you met him yesterday," George introduced them.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Dr. Banner. I've read a few of your papers on positron fields—very impressive," Tony said, walking over and patting Banner on the shoulder. It was rare for him to speak so kindly to someone he had just met.
"Thank you!" Banner replied with an awkward but polite smile.
