George and Mirajane did not participate in the fighting. After explaining to Makarov how to deal with Gajeel, George was tasked with staying behind with Mirajane to guard the unconscious mage.

Gajeel was critical evidence of Phantom Lord's unprovoked attack on Fairy Tail. If Phantom Lord managed to reclaim him, it would be difficult to explain the situation to the Magic Council during their investigation.

Naturally, Lucy and Happy stayed with them as well.

Lucy, being a Celestial Spirit Mage, relied on her spirits for combat, lacking much offensive capability herself. Moreover, her spirits often had unique personalities and tended to ignore her commands, opting to act on their own. As a result, Lucy would typically summon her spirits and then retreat to a safe spot, cheering from the sidelines.

As for Happy, he was mostly useful for assisting Natsu in flight but had even less combat ability than Lucy wielding her bare hands.

"Hit him! Hit him!"

"Nice work, Natsu!"

"Keep it up, everyone! Be careful!"

Watching the Phantom Lord mages fall one after another, Mirajane, Lucy, and Happy enthusiastically took on the role of the cheer squad.

"Erza, Natsu, and Gray, follow the Master! Don't let him go up alone!"

While observing the battle and analyzing which mage's magic might be worth prioritizing for his future studies, George noticed Makarov effortlessly swatting aside Phantom Lord mages as he made his way up the stairs to the second floor. Concerned, George quickly called out to the fired-up Erza, Natsu, and Gray.

So far, neither Phantom Lord's Guild Master Jose nor the Four Elemental Commanders had shown themselves. It was highly likely they were all on the second floor.

Although Makarov was strong, Jose was also a Wizard Saint. If Jose decided to play dirty and had the Four Elemental Commanders ambush Makarov as he ascended, things could get dangerous.

If Makarov fell to a combined assault, the tide of the battle would shift entirely in Phantom Lord's favor, and Fairy Tail would lose its advantage. In a guild war of this scale, recklessness was not an option.

After all, Phantom Lord had four S-Class mages on their side, while Fairy Tail only had Erza today. Mirajane was unable to fight due to her psychological issues, and while Natsu and Gray were powerful, neither had reached S-Class yet.

George couldn't help but notice that while Fairy Tail mages excelled in every other way, they had a tendency to get overly carried away in battle. This often led to unnecessary destruction and losses.

Even Makarov, who appeared mature and steady most of the time, seemed to have an impulsive streak beneath the surface.

Logically, they could have handed Gajeel over to the Magic Council and let them deal with Phantom Lord. If that wasn't an option, they could have at least summoned S-Class mages like Mystogan and Laxus to balance the scales at the top tier of the fight. With three S-Class mages, the outcome would be far more assured.

However, since Makarov had charged in with such confidence, George surmised he must have a significant advantage over Jose in terms of raw strength, enough to make up for the difference in elite forces.

In any case, George knew his own limitations. He wasn't an S-Class mage, and the only reason he had been able to defeat Gajeel earlier was because of the strategy he shared with Makarov.

Thanks to the Amplifying Charm George used, his voice boomed across the battlefield, pulling Erza, Natsu, and Gray out of their battle frenzy. The three immediately sprinted after Makarov.

"Let's follow them as well."

Seeing Erza and the others heading upstairs, George used magic to levitate Gajeel and brought Mirajane, Lucy, and Happy along.

The battle downstairs was progressing well, and victory was only a matter of time. The real deciding factor lay in the battles upstairs.

Ultimately, the outcome of this guild war would hinge on the top-tier fight. If Makarov defeated Jose, Fairy Tail would secure victory. But if he lost, even triumph downstairs would mean nothing.

A single Wizard Saint-level mage was more than capable of wiping out the remaining mages below.

"Jose, I demand an explanation! Otherwise, I'll deal with you the same way I did six years ago!"

As George reached the second floor, Makarov's furious roar filled the air.

The scene on the second floor had split into four duels:

Makarov versus Jose, Erza versus Sol, Natsu versus Totomaru, and Gray versus Juvia.

"Huh? Someone's missing. Could it be they're not in the guild?"

Sweeping his gaze across the hall, George noticed that Aria, the leader of the Four Elemental Commanders, was nowhere to be found.

"What a failure. To think you got yourself captured alive. And I actually thought you were worth admiring."

Jose glanced at Gajeel, who was being controlled by George, and immediately understood what had happened. Turning back to Makarov, he sneered:

"No explanation is necessary, Makarov. Six years ago, you won by sheer luck, and you think that makes you stronger than me? Today, I will not only kill you, but every single Fairy Tail mage as well. I will erase Fairy Tail from existence and let the world know that Phantom Lord is the strongest mage guild!"

"If that's how it's going to be, then prepare to die!"

Makarov's fist instantly enlarged, and with tremendous force, he hurled a punch toward Jose. The power behind it was so immense it seemed capable of shattering a mountain.

"Such an attack won't harm me."

Facing Makarov's blow—an attack strong enough to knock out an S-Class mage—Jose merely smirked. He solidified the magic around his body, forming a tangible shield, and met the punch with his own magic-infused fist.

Makarov wasn't surprised that Jose could block the attack; he was well aware of Jose's strength.

"Let's take this fight upstairs if you don't want your guild completely leveled."

With that, Makarov sent a single punch upward, blasting a hole through the roof of the guild. Then, he used his immense magical energy to levitate into the air above the building.

At their level of power, even without knowing specific flight magic, floating with raw magical energy was a trivial matter.

However, Makarov's decision to move the battle outside wasn't out of concern for Phantom Lord's guild. That was of no importance to him. His true worry was that their clash could be so destructive that it would endanger the Fairy Tail mages fighting below on the first floor.

Jose's lips curled into a sly grin, and he followed, also using his magic to ascend into the sky.

"I knew you'd do that."

Jose had anticipated that Makarov would prioritize the safety of the Fairy Tail mages below and suggest moving the battle to the air. Because of this, he had already instructed Aria, leader of the Four Elemental Commanders, to conceal himself in the skies above, ready for an ambush.

*Boom!*

As the two Wizard Saints rose into the air to face each other, the sheer collision of their magical auras caused a dramatic change in the atmosphere. Thunder and lightning tore across the sky, accompanied by deafening roars.

At their level, the oppressive force of their magical energy alone was enough to render ordinary mages unable to move.

"So this is what it means to be a Wizard Saint," George muttered, staring up at the two guild masters. His heart was pounding with awe.

He had thought Erza was already incredibly strong, but witnessing the scale of power displayed by these two left him utterly stunned.

"Dark Bind Stream!"

Jose, a master of dark and death magic, struck first. Torrents of dark energy transformed into countless beams, hurtling toward Makarov.

"Holy Light Array!"

In response, radiant magic circles burst into existence, releasing beams of brilliant light to intercept Jose's attack.

Makarov's holy magic was every bit as potent as Jose's dark death magic.

"Death Storm!"

"Light Burst!"

Black and white magic clashed violently in the skies above the city. Each collision sent shockwaves rippling outward, causing the buildings below to tremble as if on the verge of collapse.

The city's residents, roused from their sleep by the deafening noise, peeked out to see the chaos. Recognizing that Fairy Tail and Phantom Lord were at war, they immediately fled, streaming out of the city in panic.
