MARVEL:ABSOLUTE EVOLUTION (AU)

Chapter 21: Hero persona And Bombs.

[Peter's POV]

"Peter... You can turn around now..." Gwen's voice was almost a whisper, light and hesitant.

I turned around, feigning surprise, though deep down I knew she looked incredible in the suit I'd designed. Gwen emerged from the corner, clad in the custom-made suit I'd designed for her. It was a sleek black bodysuit that hugged her form perfectly, reminiscent of Ghost-Spider's iconic look.

A striking white Spider emblem stretched across her chest, its bold design drawing the eye and accentuating her curves. The white hood framed her face, adding an air of mystery and making her look every bit the superhero she was destined to be.

"Wow, Gwen. You look stunning," I said, my voice a mix of admiration and disbelief. "That suit highlights your figure—especially your curves."

Gwen's cheeks flushed, and a shy smile crept onto her face as she twirled playfully, the fabric flowing around her. "You think so? I wasn't sure if it would fit right."

"Mhm… Well, it fits perfectly. But do let me know if it's too tight anywhere," I teased, my eyes trailing from her chest to her thighs before quickly glancing away.

"PETER!!" Gwen hit me on the shoulder, her face turning even redder as she caught me staring.

"Can't help it... you look too good right now, it's hard to control my feelings," I said, my tone playful.

"Uh, thanks, Peter," Gwen stammered, still blushing. "I can't believe you made this for me. It means a lot."

I shrugged, trying to play it cool, though inside I was buzzing with excitement. "Well, if we're going to be partners in crime-fighting, you should at least look the part. And you do."

Gwen's eyes sparkled with enthusiasm. "So, what's next? Are we going to test it out?"

"Something like that..." I nodded and started to take off my shirt and pants, revealing my black and red Spider-Man suit. Red lines highlighted the spider theme, and webs made it look... well, cool, I guess.

"Eh...?" Gwen paused, staring at me silently. "So??..." I frowned, wondering if something was off. Was my suit that bad?

"Is it bad?" I asked nervously. No matter what, I wanted to look cool in my Spidey suit.

Gwen's eyes were wide, and for a moment, I thought I saw a flicker of surprise—maybe admiration? But her expression quickly shifted, and she fell silent, mouth slightly agape as she took in the sight of me.

"Peter…" she said, her voice soft and almost breathless. "You look… hot."

Her compliment hit me like a jolt of electricity. I felt my cheeks warm a little, but I couldn't stop grinning, even though a wave of self-doubt crept in. "Really? You think so?" I asked, trying to gauge her reaction.

"Yeah! I mean, the suit highlights your muscles and body frame," she continued, her eyes sparkling with genuine admiration.

I couldn't help but feel a swell of pride, but that nagging voice in my head still wondered if I truly looked as good as she said.

"I just… I don't know. I thought it might look a bit over the top," I admitted, glancing down at the suit.

Gwen stepped closer, her gaze unwavering. "Over the top? No way! It's bold and striking. You look cool, Peter. Like, cool."

As she moved closer, I felt the heat radiating off her body, and I couldn't help but look down at how her new costume hugged her curves in all the right places. The air between us thickened, charged with an undeniable tension.

Gwen's fingers traced lightly over my bicep, and I felt a shiver run down my spine. "You've got to own this," she said, her voice low and sultry. "You look like you could take on anything."

'Hm... is she getting affected by her spider pheromones again?'I thought to myself. Gwen was usually shy, and she wouldn't be this bold unless... well unless something was going on.

"Okay, Gwen... calm down, can you?" I said in my strict tone, flicking her forehead lightly with a bit more force than necessary, snapping her out of it.

"Ouch! What was that for?" Gwen yelped, rubbing her forehead and giving me a look of playful blame.

"Come on, if I hadn't done that, you might've... well, let's not go there," I chuckled, noticing her face turn crimson.

"Anyway, put down your mask," I said, trying to shift the focus. "It's time to train you in web-slinging."

I pulled down my mask as well and wrapped my left arm around her waist, leaping off the ground with ease. Gwen didn't try to pull away or act awkward, so I assumed she was fine with it. We landed effortlessly on top of a warehouse. "Damn, I love being a jumping spider," I chuckled to myself, feeling Gwen's arms tighten around me.

"Shh... calm down, and follow me," I said, firing a web to the nearest skyscraper swinging down fearlessly and throwing her in the air suddenly.

"Damn, Parker... NOT AGAIN!" Gwen yelled in frustration, but after a second, she found her balance and shot a web to another building. She quickly followed me, her movements graceful, almost like she'd been practising this for years.

I kept swinging, doing acrobatics mid-air, feeling free—no restrictions, no fear.

"Is this the freedom I'm seeking?" I mumbled to myself, my mind feeling refreshed. But then I corrected myself. No, it's not. It's just another step toward true freedom and absolute power—unrestricted by anything or anyone, even death itself.

The city stretched out beneath us, a tapestry of lights and shadows. Gwen, still tentative but improving, clung to her web-line as we swung from one rooftop to the next. Watching her learn brought a different kind of joy.

"You're getting better, Gwendolyn," I called out, executing a perfect somersault before landing on a nearby ledge. "But your swing's still too rigid. Loosen up! Let the momentum carry you."

"Easy for you to say, Mister Show-Off. I'm trying not to splatter myself against a building!" Gwen scoffed, but there was a smile in her voice.

I chuckled, launching myself into another arc. "You'll get there. Just trust the web. It's like dancing—you let the rhythm guide you."

"Dancing? Really?" she scoffed, though a smile tugged at her lips.

Our playful banter was interrupted by a plume of black smoke rising into the sky. The faint wail of sirens followed shortly after.

"Peter," Gwen said, her tone shifting to concern. "Do you see that?"

"Yeah," I replied, my eyes narrowing. "Looks like trouble."

"And a perfect opportunity," I muttered under my breath.

We adjusted our trajectories, swinging toward the source of the chaos. As we got closer, the scene came into focus: a blazing apartment complex engulfed in flames. Firefighters were struggling to contain the inferno, and the streets were packed with onlookers, police officers, and news crews.

I landed on a streetlamp, scanning the chaos below with my extraordinary vision. My 360° vision helped me navigate the smoke and debris. I could hear the cries of people trapped inside.

"I can't believe that family is trapped," one woman cried out.

"Firefighters had to retreat, and the fire's getting worse. It's a miracle they didn't lose any first responders," another person added.

"Are they going to get her out?" someone asked.

"They can't! The fire's too out of control. More people will die trying!"

I felt my palms begin to sweat. Am I getting nervous? I frowned. No matter how powerful I was, I was still just an ordinary guy, and even with these superpowers, I wasn't about to put myself in danger unless it was necessary.

Ugh, screw it, I thought. I need to be brave.

Gwen's hand rested on my shoulder, pulling me from my spiralling thoughts. "Peter… they're going to die!" she said, her voice full of urgency.

"We need to save them," Gwen said, her voice now filled with determination as she leapt through a broken window.

"Ugh. GWEN, WAIT!!" I called out in frustration, but I quickly took a deep breath and followed her. My sharp senses, especially my 360° vision, helped me avoid falling debris as I navigated the building.

The heat inside was suffocating. Smoke stung my eyes as I turned off my 360° vision and focused on my enhanced senses. They guided me through the chaos.

"Wait, they're in the bathroom!" I shouted, stopping Gwen from charging in recklessly.

"Let me break it down first," I said, then used my full strength to smash through the door, sending it flying against the wall.

Inside, I saw a woman huddled in the small bathtub, holding her wheezing children in her arms, crying desperately. She stared at us through the steam and intense heat.

"Get up and move," I gestured for her to stand as we approached, but she sobbed, shaking her head frantically.

"Why?" Gwen asked, leaning forward to gather the terrified children.

The woman sobbed harder. "I can't! I'm trapped. They planted bombs on us. Please, save my kids."

"Who are they?" I asked, moving closer and helping Gwen take the kids from the woman's arms. Gwen's expression shifted from shock to fury as she realized the cruelty these people had inflicted, even attempting to burn the woman and children alive.

"Ugh…" I muttered in frustration. "You don't need to be scared anymore. They've already done worse to your kids..." My words were laced with anger as I examined the bombs around her body.

"I... it's Kingpin's men... they..." she stammered, her voice trembling with fear.

I wanted to ask more, but there wasn't time. More debris began to fall, and the building was on the verge of collapsing.

"Gwen!! Take the kids out! I'll handle the bombs," I ordered urgency in my voice.

"No... no, I'm not leaving you alone," she insisted, grabbing my arm.

"Come on, I won't die. I promise. Now please, save these earthen looked at her through her mask, speaking in a serious tone.

"Ugh…" She glanced down at the kids in her arms, then back at me. "Fine, but please don't do anything stupid."

As soon as she left, I quickly began brainstorming how t o diffuse the bombs. The countdown had started after a I took the kids from her.

Kingpin and his men were ruthless. I sighed, glancing around as fire spread through these earthen Even with my superhuman durability, it wasn't enough to withstand the raging heat and flames.

I reached down to dismantle the nearest bomb, trying to focus despite the overwhelming heat. The ticking grew louder.

Then, the ground beneath me shifted, and the whole building groaned. The walls seemed to close in, the flames growing hotter, the countdown relentlessly ticking.

I glanced around, my mind racing. There was no time left.

I had to act fast...
