It wasn't surprising that Jason Bourne chose to stay.
His life in the mundane world had been a mess. He had lost his memory, his lover had been killed by mistake, and countless other troubles awaited him.
Although Bourne was unfamiliar with the concept of magicians, he could tell how dangerous this place was.
In truth, he couldn't even remember what SHIELD was. However, after seeing how easily he could outsmart the CIA and gain access to their intelligence, he knew that SHIELD must be an even more extreme organization than the CIA.
Bourne gathered this information easily after the two SHIELD agents—Fury and Coulson—returned from their visit to the magic world.
As he looked over the detailed information, Bourne felt his scalp tingle despite still suffering from amnesia.
"Why don't you stop these?" Bourne asked, reading through documents like the Stumbling Stone Plan and the Black Heather Plan.
"Stop?" Fury and Coulson had been wandering around the magic world for most of the day, and had also watched a movie called "Noah's Story" with him. They hadn't quite recovered from the experience yet.
But they quickly understood what the amnesiac agent was asking. "We have no reason to stop it. Can you tell me what position we have to stop it from?" Fury responded flatly.
"But can you tolerate what they're doing?" Bourne challenged, his gaze fixed on Fury and Coulson. "Even if we announce that we've dealt with one person or one plan, there will be more like them. Are we supposed to just get rid of one every time?"
Fury didn't mince words in his response. "We don't have the luxury of picking and choosing who we eliminate. It's easy to take out one person, but if you keep going down that path, you'll only attract more trouble."
Fury's blunt answer made Bourne think deeply, though he was still processing it.
Fury, however, didn't pay much attention to Bourne. To him, Bourne was just another unlucky guy. If Noah hadn't found him, he'd probably have died in some ditch. Fury didn't think Bourne would have survived for long.
"Anyway, let's talk about something else," Fury said, turning his attention back to Noah with a sly grin. "I saw your movie. It's pretty interesting."
"It's a money-making tool," Noah replied indifferently. "Many parts of it were altered. What you saw is just the modified version."
"Do you like little girls?" Fury asked, his words slipping out without much thought.
"If you don't want to turn into a sheep and wander around Westminster, you might want to reconsider those dangerous thoughts," Noah said with a pointed look, his voice darkening.
Noah's danger level was still high in Fury's eyes. He couldn't ignore Noah's threat, even if it was just a warning.
After a brief exchange, Noah opened a portal for them to leave. They'd been lazing around most of the day, and it was time to get back to business.
As for Jason and Elena, one of them was pondering things deeply, while the other was still uncertain about what to do.
Noah, thinking it over, decided to have Wong and Dennis guide them for the time being. Both of them had little to do at the moment.
Wong and Dennis were idle, as Noah was immersed in his research, and they weren't interested in participating. The tasks requiring attention at the temple were no longer urgent either, so they were both free.
Wong , who had spent most of his time in the library, was quite happy in his role as the library administrator. Dennis, on the other hand, had other duties, like going out to buy groceries and taking care of the day-to-day life of the children Noah had taken in.
So, there was no issue with Wong taking Elena under his wing, and Dennis looked after Bourne without hesitation.
Dennis also understood Noah's reasoning. While he initially objected to allowing an ordinary person into the temple, he quickly realized that Jason Bourne might be more interesting than he had initially thought.
With Noah's approval, Dennis started teaching Jason the most basic Kamar-Taj training methods.
Yes, these were the ancient methods that blended magic with physical training. Though outdated in Kamar-Taj, they were still useful for others.
Thus began Jason's unfortunate days. He never expected that this monk-like figure could be so terrifying.
Dennis didn't even use magic while training Jason—he relied solely on his raw physical power, utterly overwhelming Jason with his strength and skill.
After facing Dennis in training, Jason no longer entertained any rebellious thoughts. He had witnessed firsthand the power of the magicians here, so he stayed quietly in his role.
His job was simple: take care of the daily needs of a group of children, all magic apprentices. Initially, Jason wasn't comfortable, especially worried that the children would be afraid of him.
However, after some time, Jason realized he had been overthinking it. None of the children were scared of him, and they all got along with him quite well.
This warmth gradually melted the coldness in Jason's heart, a coldness that had formed after the tragic loss of his girlfriend. Jason started to believe that maybe he didn't need to worry so much anymore.
After all, these magicians were no pushovers. You couldn't just capture someone who could open portals at will!
Jason also found himself helping Noah with "moving goods," which shattered his entire worldview.
One of those "goods" was a dragon—an enormous creature, nearly ninety feet long. And apparently, that dragon was part of their regular cargo?
Jason tried to attack it, using every caliber of weapon at his disposal, but he couldn't leave a single scratch on it.
Charles, the bald professor, concluded that only a missile would be powerful enough to deal with it.
For the magicians, that was just another piece of cargo. If all these creatures were released, Jason could only imagine the chaos they would cause.
Meanwhile, Elena was adapting much more easily than Jason. Although she initially resented Jason for killing her parents, after reading Fury's files, she realized that Jason had only been a tool, a mere instrument in a much larger scheme.
Truthfully, Jason, who had lost his identity, was more pitiable than Elena.
While Elena struggled with her new environment at first, Wong guided her, and she soon began to enjoy this new world. She was learning and thriving in this new place, without the constant worry of survival or safety.
In this environment, Elena found a kind and beautiful woman who cared for her deeply, giving her experiences she hadn't had in years. This warmth made Elena appreciate this new life even more.
Elena valued everything she had here and worked hard to learn.
Noah noticed the changes in both Jason and Elena, but he didn't pay them too much attention. After all, he had bigger fish to fry.
For Noah, his primary concern was analyzing the dragon. Everything else was secondary.
As for the social software, it was just a tool to make money. Yet, surprisingly, this venture had brought some good news.
A few months after Jason and Elena arrived at Noah's temple, Charles rushed in, excited. Eric and Jean Grey followed him, bringing along a large machine.
"For this software, Jean and I put in a lot of effort," Charles said with a smile, eyeing the bulky machine on the floor.
"Is this the AI terminal you designed?" Noah asked, raising an eyebrow at the size of the device.
Noah had expected a small software solution, but this terminal was far larger. He quickly realized it had to be big in order to handle complex calculations.
"Of course. It's not perfect yet, but you just have to give it a verbal command, and it can help you manage this software. Of course, it's only for this software—it's not a smart assistant like Jarvis."
Noah nodded, understanding the limitations. While it wasn't quite Jarvis, it could certainly help him operate the software that Tony had created.
"Great," Noah said. "Now all we need to do is get Gringotts on board, and our software can be launched. Looks like we've succeeded again."
"Yes, we succeeded once more," Charles smiled. "But how do you plan to make money with this software? Advertising fees?"
"Advertising fees?" Noah chuckled. "That's the simplest way, but there are plenty of other ways to make money with social software. In fact, there are all sorts of methods. We could offer memberships, charge for premium content, and even sell downloads!"
Charles was intrigued. "Sounds like you've got a lot of ideas."
Noah grinned. "There's no shortage of ways to profit from this kind of software."
