Chapter 286: Chapter 286: Guardians of the Galaxy?
"Why?" Quill asked nervously, looking at Alan.
Alan replied, "Because this isn't an ordinary object. There's immense energy hidden within it. You'll understand later."
Seeing that Alan had no intention of explaining further, Quill stopped pressing. Regardless, he was determined to go to Xandar.
The spaceship was fast, equipped with warp-drive capabilities. Before long, they arrived at Xandar.
Xandar was a highly advanced planet, governed by an organization called the Nova Corps. The planet was covered largely by water, with the land divided into geometrically designed regions. The architecture was diverse, exuding the cultural essence of an alien civilization.
On the ship, Wanda and Gwen were glued to the screen, staring in awe at the planet's surface as they descended. They were like kids on their first field trip. Even Red Queen couldn't hide her excitement, joining in their marvel at the alien civilization.
Xandar's climate was pleasant, as its advanced technology allowed for full control of environmental conditions. The planet served as a hub for many space adventurers, making it a mix of all sorts of individuals.
The spaceship landed, and the hatch opened. Quill, Alan, and the others stepped out slowly. They found themselves in a plaza, centered around a fountain-like landmark. All around them were various kinds of aliens, some looking similar to humans, while others resembled outright monsters.
Standing behind Alan, Gwen and Wanda were both nervous and uneasy.
"Don't worry. Just think of them as locals."
Alan acted nonchalant, seemingly unfazed. Little did he realize that many beings from other planets were looking at them as if they were aliens too.
Quill walked up to a large building and said to Alan, "I'm going to sell the Orb now. Wait for me here."
Alan wanted to say something but stopped when he saw Quill had already entered the building. He knew Quill wouldn't be able to sell it. The buyer would back out the moment Ronan's name was mentioned, and soon after, Quill would encounter Gamora and the rest of his future teammates.
Sure enough, within minutes, Alan saw Quill emerge, looking dejected. Nearby, a green-skinned woman was standing by the entrance.
Quill exchanged a few words with her, and the woman immediately lunged for the Orb, snatching it away.
Seeing this, Alan rushed forward like the wind. He already knew what would happen next, and to avoid drawing attention from the Nova Corps, he decided to secure the Orb himself.
Gamora, having seized the Orb, started sprinting away. She was agile, but Alan was faster. With a swift leg sweep, he knocked her to the ground, causing the Orb to slip from her grasp.
At the same time, two bounty hunters lying in wait sprang into action, charging toward the Orb.
Alan turned and shouted at Wanda and Gwen.
The two acted with perfect coordination. Gwen shot out webs, wrapping around the Orb, while Wanda's hands glowed with chaotic magic, freezing everyone else in mid-air.
"I got it, Alan!" Gwen exclaimed joyfully from afar.
Alan quickly rushed over. The Power Stone was in his hands!
By now, the group of individuals vying for the Orb had surrounded them. Originally, the still-unformed Guardians of the Galaxy would have been apprehended by the Nova Corps. However, thanks to Alan's intervention, the commotion went unnoticed.
Alan glanced at the people approaching from a distance and smiled in satisfaction.
